I have a hp pavilion m8000 with vista.
I've just installed a new wireless broadband router yesterday. My computer was connecting ok then, except that it was occasionally losing signal. When I've turned it back on today, it can't see the network, and when I click on diagnose it says "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured".
My linksys wireless router does not want to connect to my hp pavillion dv 6700. I had tried already tried resetting it, and it still hadn't managed to solve the issue. It might be something wrong with the IP address, or other settings. I can connect just fine to a modem. What do I need to do to resolve this and get back running wirelessly?

Tests included some sort of number entry on intenernet explorer "192.6.10020" and i also connected the laptop to the internet with a wire which WORK :) But doesnt continue to work once i disconnect the wire. My internet provider said it was definitely down to my laptop. [code]

However, it does connect to pretty much any other router wherever we go. And there kicker is, the desktop I am on now, my phone, and pretty much everything else, WILL connect to my router (both n and g wireless devices). So, here are the details: My laptop is an HP Pavilion G Series, running Windows 7. My router is an N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (WNDR3700). The computer I am currently using (and do the router config on) is running Windows 7 as well. The router has both a g and n setup (WPA2-PSK [AES] pass). Passwords for both n and g are the same, so there is never any confusion.

Previous time: Couldn't connect, formatted, couldnt connect, took it to a store, it worked there i arrived home and it was working.
This time: I had internet and i was playing Guild Wars 2, it lagged, the connection went down, cant connect to my wifi anymore.
Already tried to reset the router, rebooted the pc, clear all the networks memorized on the wifi list, and this:

For over a month now my laptop has been unable to connect to the internet via a wireless connection. It will connect to the network, but that's as far as it goes. Resetting the router does nothing, and the same can be said for resetting the network wireless adapter. However connecting via the LAN cable to the Router will allow me to connect to the internet and use it normally.I've even tried deleting the wireless information for my network off the computer and re-inputting it but that didn't solve the problem either.I have an HP Pavilion g7 notebook PC that is running Windows 7. I got in it June 2012 brand new and have had nothing but problems with the wireless. It worked fantastic for the first few months and then this happened for the first time. I managed to fix it by myself that time, but I don't remember exactly what I did. It worked alright for the next few months but it was kind of spotty and temperamental. And now it's not working at all. I've tried everything I can think of to fix the problem but nothing has worked so far. According to the HP support Assistant my wireless adapter is called "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030"

I try to connect to the wireless network at my home, and either of the 2 wifi networks at my university, and I can't make either one work reliably. I have been on the online chat support with HP at least 5 times and the problem is still unresolved.

I have had this laptop for at least 3 years and it connects to any other wireless connection I've ever tried ( at my sons with Cox, every airport, overseas, and with my previous Qwest routers ). Since I moved and now have a Qwest PK5000Z router this laptop will not connect. The error message I get is " The network security key is incorrect ", but it's not of course. All other laptops I've used here connect successfully, Dell, Mac, Toshiba, etc.

I reinstalled windows vista on my HP pavilion dv4-1430us, after the fresh installation, the wireless internt would not work at all, and even when trying to plug in an ethernet cord it still would not connect to the internet. Is it missing the drivers needed in order to connect to the internet? if so where can i find them?

I know the router works fine because my pc (also windows 7) connects just fine. Also, when I take my laptop to a different wireless network, (i.e. coffee shop, library, etc.) it works fine. I am able to get an ethernet connection, just not wirelessly. Windows diagnostics gets me nowhere.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI own a HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to my home connection. My laptop connects to other connections but my desktop PC and gaming console are connecting to the "broken" internet just fine so I'm assuming it's the laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem/router for minutes, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapter device ((It now keeps coming up as "unidentified network" instead of the original name for the connection; Should I be concerned??)), and even just stopped using the laptop for a few days to see if somehow that would fix it.
I've troubleshot it and it says theres a problem with my access point/router but I don't see how that's the problem if everything else is working fine. I've spent 3 hours looking into solutions to this problem and I've come accross that the router may not be giving the laptop an IP to connect too but I'm still not sure how to fix this issue or if it's another issue all together.
My WiFi card went out in my HP Pavillion dv6000 and I tried installing an external adapter. Actually I've tried 2 different ones and both try and try to connect but can't. The signal is strong but connectivity is weak. I think the problem is that when my brother installed the first one (belkin) he enabled security on my internet connection. He lives in another town and he can't remember what the security code that he put in is. I never had any problem connecting when my internal wifi was working and the connection wasn't secured. how to disable security and make it like it used to be so that I can see if this will let my external card connect? I uninstalled the Belkin and installed a netgear and that wouldn't connect either.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Pavilion dv9930us laptop. I recently upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate from Visata Home Premium 64-bit. Everything worked fine until I decided that I didn't want WinAmp that I previously installed. I uninstalled WinAmp. However, when I rebooted the latop, it went into an infinte loop after startup (that is, it would load all the applicatons, but whenever it connected to the internet, it would go into an infinite loop). I also uninstalled HP Quick Launch Buttons. I thought the laptop was going into an infinite loop because it was looking for these programs since they may not have been properly uninstalled. I went ahead an reinstalled these programs but after 30 seconds after startup, when trying to connect to the wirless network, it would freeze (that is only the mouse would work but everything else on the desktop was unresponsive). I edited msconfig several times, at one point, went through each program to see which ones were responsible for the laptop freeze. I found two programs, the SSDP Discovery and the CNG Isolation Key that were causing the laptop to freeze up after startup. I later found out that these two programs, especially the CNG Isolation Key were important to connect wirelessly. The virus program I have is Kaspersky and I already ran a malwarebytes scan through safe mode. At this point, all applications work fine except that I cannot connect to the wireless network. I ran the troubleshoot for the wirless network and reinstalled the drivers but it still cannot detect any wireless networks. Is there anything I can do without reinstalling Win 7 or updating the BIOS? The radio button or the wireless adapter is blue telling me that its working ok. When I checked it through device manager, it says that the device is working properly. connect to my wireless network? (There is no problem with the wireless network through the wireless router since I can connect with no issues on another laptop).

I have a HP Pavilion D4990Y that I haven't used for about 6 months now. I just decided to set it back up but it will not connect to the internet. My laptop will connect, however. The computer cannot find any connections even though I know there are plenty that I can connect to with my laptop at my house, including my own router. The computer's radio search device for a connection is on and the router is working fine.

Now when I start it up, it cant connect to my wireless internet through comcast that I have setup. The internet does work because I currently have a second laptop and two xboxs which connect fine. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.

View 1 Replies View Related I have an issue with my router that disconnects from the internet in variuos situation when my laptop (an hp pavillion dv6) try to connect. It happen everytime when the laptop go in standby. When i turn it on from standby, the router disconnects from the net and the only way to have access to internet again is turn off and then on the router. It happens also when i turn on the laptop if there is yet some other device connected, like my desktop or my iphone or whatever.
Sometimes i have the same problem with my brand new tablet (a sony s) in a slightly different way. I navigate then, after a random amount of time, the router disconnects in the same way and the only way to have back connection is turn off and then on the router.
I've recently been having issues getting a wireless connection with my laptop (specifically dv6700) running vista. I had previously run it for 2 years without issue, but after returning from Sweden (where there was again no issue connecting wirelessly) I have often only been able to get local access. This isn't on all networks - my University library network works fine, for example, but my flat's personal network as well as my parents' network, as well as a local cafe which I had previously connected to fine, only get local access.

I have many other wireless devices that connect fine (xbox 360, 2 iPod touchs, and another laptop). It will connect fine at my in-laws and my buddy's house. I don't know if this means anything but I set up the network on the HP. It worked fine hooked up throu an Ethernet cord. I know it's not the modem or router. In my network center it will identify the network and show it's connected but in the manage wireless networks window it says it's connected to an unidentified network. The router is a belkin.
