View 1 Replies View RelatedI partitioned my hard drive and installed Ubuntu 12.04. Now I'm trying to install the wireless drivers found here:
[url]....
Which I got by selecting Ubuntu 10.10 in the dropdown list here:
[url]...
because it was closest to what I have.
I downloaded the tar.gz, extracted it, and double clicked on misc/<some long filename>.deb, which opened up the software center, and I hit install.Installation fails saying the dkms dependency failed, but I have dkms installed.
I know now that this is a Desktop motherboard, officially not supported for Windows Server operating systems, but I would still like to get it to work. I've confirmed that the motherboard network works in WinXP (Intel 82579V Gigabit) and typically the 32-bit Windows XP drivers work on Server 2003 as well. Several of the other drivers have installed just fine, but the network driver install package fails with "No Intel Adapters are present."
I am trying to install Windows Home Server v1 (based on Windows Server 2003) on this box and just want to get a basic network driver up and running. I've checked the BIOS config, and Device Manager shows a yellow question mark by "Ethernet Controller". The ID is:
PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_20408086&REV_043&11583659&0&C8 but I don't really know what to do with that...
I cannot install the drivers for my TrendNet TEW-423PI network interface card. I am running Windows 7 64-bit with an Intel i7 2700k and an Asus motherboard. I have tried installing with the card already in the computer - no luck. Card out of the computer install and then shut off and put in - no luck. The instructions that come with the card say that after you install the program that instantly runs from the CD provided you should shut off the computer and install the card and when you turn the computer back on the drivers will install automatically. It has failed to do so and although I pulled all possible drivers from TrendNet's site it still stubbornly refuses to even recognize that there are drivers for it to install.

The Wireless LAN is installed but the sometimes wireless networks are not detecting until the computer and access point are restarted several times. The situation is similar to the problem which I faced for Windows 7 in the following thread.

I like to know how to solve this error, where to find proper drivers and how to configure the laptop and OS to work properly.
Any way to install this excellent WiFi adapter on Ubuntu?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI came into an old Win 7 computer (64-bit) with a WMP54G v4.0 wireless card in it. Apparently the driver had already been installed previously but when I booted the computer it didn't acknowledge the existence of the card or drivers. I installed the driver from here[url]... and restarted the computer when prompted (the card was already in the computer). Upon restart the setup was supposed to complete, but it never came up. When I re-ran the setup it just said the driver is already installed. The card still isn't being recognized, scanning for new hardware in the device manager doesn't bring it up. There is an entry for a "Network Controller" with no driver installed, it may be the WMP54G but trying to manually install the driver doesn't work. Windows just says it can't find the driver even when I point the install wizard right to its location.

View 4 Replies View Relatedxps 410 running win 7 64bit cannot get usb bluetooth adapters to work. latest attempt is a micro innovations usb60bt that a Fry's salesman demonstrated in the store with an HP notebook. took it home and three drivers fail to install correctly:
bluetooth hands-free audio
bluetooth remote control
bluetooth L2cap interface.
None of these gave problems when the guy installed it (plugged it in) in fry's; it immediately was able to pair with my BB 8900. Since upgrading the XPS to win 7 have not been able to pair it to anything. Is the bleeping bios that is no longer supported out-dated?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to install the drivers for the adapter normally, Windows 7x64 gives me a message that the device name "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" already exists and is in use, preventing me from installing the wireless driver properly. In order to get around it, I changed all "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter" fields into "Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter B" in the netr28ux.inf file to make the driver install under a different name.I tried everything I can to remove all evidence of linksys drivers from my computer, uninstalling and removing driverstore with pnputil.exe, but I cannot seem to find the originating files to uninstall. For now the way I edited the netr28ux.inf file works, but I'd rather be able to install the driver as intended.

My roommate is running dual boot Windows XP PRO (SP3) and Ubuntu 10.10. I am running Windows XP PRO(SP3). Is there any software, that can run on both OS and can create a home network that will work between XP and Ubuntu. He has Samba installed but I have read that that works on Linux not Windows so he can see me but I can't see him.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy host OS is Ubuntu 12.04 and I am running a LAMP stack there. I have several Windows virtual machines (XP and Windows7) running in Virtual Box so I can test IE6, IE7, etc..
I frequently move this laptop between a few wireless networks and sometimes I am without an internet connection. I pause and save the VM execution state. Regardless, I want the virtual machines to be able to access the sites I am hosting locally on Ubuntu. The virtual machines do not need regular internet access. On the host I can point the browser at localhost or any subdirectory that apache is serving and view pages I've set up already. What is the best configuration for this?
Should I use Bridged or NAT virtual adaptors and should the guests use static IP's or DHCP ? I've also considered using ad-hoc networks between guests and host, but I think this will require that the host disconnect from any other networks (with internet access).
I have an Ubuntu box, 11.04 x64, running on a Dual Opteron SFF box (iWill ZMaxDP... pretty old machine). Up until a few weeks ago, it was acting as a Windows 2008 Server, but i moved it to Ubuntu.
Anyway, the machine will not stay on the network for any amount of time, without falling off... I have changed network cards, cables, ports on the switch, etc, and nothing seems to work. I have a Windows 2003 box giving out DHCP addresses, and for a while, i actually tured that off and setup a second Ubuntu box to give IPs... it made no difference. The box gets an IP, and can ping outside for a bit (2 min or so) and then just looses connectivity... ifconfig shows it with an IP (i have tried both Static and DHCP config) and nothing seems to work.Restarting the network stack (/etc/init.d/networking restart) some times gets a connection working for a few min, but then it falls over again..
Just to note, the main onboard network card is not showing up for some reason. I have an Intel Dual GigE PCI card installed. Eth2 is the "Working" interface, an ETH3 is not connected to anything.... Also, this is probably the first time since i installed the machine that the connection is staying up.
