Ive just formatted both my hard drives and reinstalled win 7. Before this, my wireless connection was working just fine and after everything was complete with the win 7 installation a wireless connection cannot be detected. However, plugging an ethernet cable in allows me to access the internet just fine. I can also use the internet wireless'ly via my laptop, so its not a problem with my actual internet connection. After reinstalling I put my Gigabyte motherboard CD into the computer which ran some auto installations, one of which being a driver 'Realtek 8111/8168 LAN driver for gigabit (Win 7).' This didnt make any difference and I still could not access wireless internet. The list of component parts I got when I ordered my computer lists a '802.11N 300mbps PCI Wireless Network Card,' but no further info on make or model.

I am unable to locate my wireless adapter on IBM Thinkpad R50 after I had to re-install Windows XP. It was not the cd that goes to the laptop, as I did not have one because I bought the laptop used. I went to the Lenovo website and have installed just about every driver on support page and still NOTHING.

I have a Gateway Notebook Model ML6720 that has built-in Wireless. The PC was heavily infected by Virus and I had to re-install Vista Operating system. Now, it will not detect the Wireless Adapter. I went to the maufacturer's website on another computer and downloaded the driver and installed the driver on the laptop. However, it did not work. The blue "wireless" light on the laptop is "lit", however when I go to "Device Manager" and look at the Network Drives, it only shows the wired Ethernet option.

Up until a few days ago I had perfect wifi, but then all of a sudden, my wifi adapter disappeared. It's not a matter of turning it off/on. It has disappeared from device manager too, showing only Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). There used to be 802.11b/g/n WiFi thing there before.
I've tried system restore, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling windows. I succeeded for some time after I managed to update my Microsoft .NET Framework 4, and it worked until I went to sleep, but the laptop into sleep mode too, and in the morning it was gone again.
I'm writing this while basically sitting on my modem. The cable connection works just fine.I'm running a win7 x32.

AT&T recently came out and replaced our Uverse modem, upon which iPad could connect to the new network, but neither of our laptops. I'm only a little technical with hardware/system issues, so after none of the more obvious troubleshooting issues worked, I started searching for more information and came across this site....great!! Eventually resolved the issue, suspect the wired connection through modem/router did the trick, but also updated the network adapter drivers. This (husband's) laptop was doing fine for a few hours, but then suddenly lost connection -- appeared that the network adapter was disabled. But when I went to enable it, it was gone!! It no longer appears in the Device Manager list at all. (It is/was an Atheros AR5700)

I can usually figure stuff out for myself when it comes to computers, but to be honest I'm baffled. My HP 620 notebook wireless LAN has completely disappeared. I can no longer select anything to do with a wireless network, and it has also disappeared from the HP Wireless Assistant (which only has bluetooth on it - disabled by windows device manager?).
Anywho I did a quick internet search and it seems a pretty common problem with the HP series, and followed some advice they gave...
1) Did all the basic things (e.g. try and find a wireless network right click enable etc.)
2) Uninstalled/Reinstalled wireless assistant
3) Did some power off 30 second BIOS reset or something (literally have no idea what this is just followed advice)
4) I BELIEVE (note that this is way past my knowledge of computers) that I uninstalled the network adapter devices and reinstalled them on restart.
5) Finally I literally just took my laptop apart and took out, cleaned and replaced the wireless thingy
So all of this had no affect on my wireless LAN mysteriously disappearing. For those unfamiliar with the HP 620 it has a wireless on/off toggle button which is bright blue when working. Now however it is permanently orange and wireless has completely disappeared.

I restarted my router multiple times and my computer. I am now connected to the modem by ethernet cord

I have a laptop which has always connected to this wireless network fine until yesterday. The wireless network seemed to suddenly just disappear. There are three other laptops in the house which can still detect that wireless network and connect to it except that one now. I have restarted that laptop and the network reappeared and it connected. But when it was restarted again, the network showed just for a minute or so and the laptop cannot connect and then the network disappears. I've restarted it many times now and it just shows the network for a brief moment, trys to connect and then the network disappearsThis is the info for the laptop:ech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 32 bitProcessor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz, x64 Family 6 Model 37 Stepping 5Processor Count: 2RAM: 2998 MbGraphics Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics, 1275 MbHard Drives: C: Total - 293422 MB, Free - 248128 MB;Motherboard: TOSHIBA, Portable PCAntivirus: Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security, Updated: Yes, On-Demand Scanner: Enabled

It all started when I wanted to add security to my wireless router (Linksys wireless-g 2.4ghz, 802.11g). Every time my IT guy tried to add the security, the tabs to enter the info would disappear. Since we'd been having trouble with this router for years, I bought a Linksys E4200 wireless-N router. He set it up, my son's laptop works beautifully (no he didn't do anything to his laptop except turn it on, and yes, I am sending this message via my son's laptop). Both of my laptops, however, are a mess. The IP address has disappeared (0.0.0.0), and after running all night, still cannot be found. My IT guy is absolutely baffled as to why this is happening. Before the router installation could be completed, he had to disable my Dell wireless network. He restarted it after the router connection was completed. Everything looks fine, but neither of my laptops will connect to the server, because THERE IS NO IP ADDRESS FOR EITHER OF THEM.

I have an Advent 5421 with Vista installed, it's nearly 3 years old and I have a few problems with it, but nothing too terrible, until yesterdy when I switched it on and found the wireless connection has mysteriously disappeared. When I try to connect it says there are no networks to connect to, which is obviously bollocks. The internet will now only work if I plug the cable in, which is no good as I share a flat with 2 other girls and if I do that, they lose their connection. I don't understand whats happened. I really am not computer literate at all, the only thing I tried was to make sure I had the latest software updates for my computer, which I did, but nothing happened.

I have a cable modem and it is attached to my computer, and it is also attached to a wireless router that we have been using for various wireless things around the house, like our phones and also the Roku box (for Netflix, etc). When I got the wireless router I was told to set up a private network and to use a password. I did this (though I don't remember how) and whenever a new device was first trying to access the wireless from the router it found the network name I gave, and I put the password in and used the wireless.
Last night we had some trouble watching something on Netflix using the Roku box and it connected to wireless but not to the local network. Then this morning it did not even find the wireless connection. I looked at my iphone and saw I had a strong wireless signal, but when I looked at the wireless settings it just said "linksys" (the wireless router) -- the network I had set up was gone!I looked on my PC in Control Panel, Network and Sharing, and the network I had set up and named does not pop up as one that's available.
However when I click on "Manage Wireless Networks" that wireless network I had set up is still listed there -- it's just not showing up. Somehow that got dis-associated with my router.how to re-establish the connection between the router and the network name/password I had established.

I'm trying to set up this 1130AG with a private wireless network and a guest wireless network. Initially it had just one wireless (private) and it worked fine, but then when I created the two VLANs for each SSID and then the guest SSID and now the guest SSID is visible/broadcasting, but the private SSID has disappeared or is off.
P.S. - It's a Cisco Aironet 1130AG (AIR-AP1131AG-A-K9) running 12.3(8)JEA system software and I'm using the web GUI (I'm not familar with the command line for Cisco products yet).

I am running an ASUS laptop with Windows 7. My wireless has been working fine, but my room is quite far from the router, so I bought a signal-booster USB aerial made by Realtek (REALTEK 11n USB Wireless LAN Driver and Utility). It came with a small software CD too which I installed, and it worked fine for two days and boosted my wireless signal. However (you knew it was coming, the story can't stay happy) soon the red light on the USB booster stopped blinking and it showed the red 'x' where my wifi connections are. I couldn't get it to re-establish a connection without doing a full system restore and re-installing the USB signal booster, which would then work again for a short amount of time (maybe a day, maybe an hour). And worse, now when the USB booster is unplugged from the computer my laptop will not return to recognising wireless connections like it did before I installed the USB signal booster. It simply does not find any connections - the only time it does is directly after I have re-installed the software from the small disc which came with the Realtek USB signal booster.
I have now uninstalled the Software and anything made by Realtek but still it is finding no connections. Now I would just like to find a way to get back to where I started when my computer was finding all wireless connections like normal... a connection with a weak signal is better than this nightmare of constantly restoring my computer just to get a brief connection

i have a Dell Latitude D810. I just wiped and reinstalled the OS. i have updated everything from windows update including chipnet,.Net, flashed the bios, and did a scan, and updated drivers. i have tried to update drivers from the original CD.problem: I cannot seem to get the computer to realize it has an internal network card. there is no switch on laptop. i have tried manually updating drivers, performing scans, etc. when i go to Dell website, it says to go to network connections, and click on the Wireless Connection to set it up, but that option is not there (only LAN). i am on internet through LAN but cannot see anything wireless to set up.when i am finally able to see wireless options, i want to connect to my existing network, so i do not need to set up a new network.

I have a Dell Dimension desktop 4550. I did a reinstall of Windows XP sp2. Now I am having an issue with my wireless card. I am unable to install the driver. I don't have the original CD that came with the card. The wireless card is a Buffalo Air station wireless G. I went to the Buffalo site and downloaded the driver from the model number on the wireless card. I then attempted to install the driver using the Device Manager from a folder on my desktop. No such luck. I also tried to install the driver from the Device Manager using my memory stick. But that didn't work. I did uninstall the wireless card before attempting to install the driver. Now, My PC does recognize the wireless card and asks me to install the driver after every start-up.And yes the Device manager has the yellow exclamation point and exclamation marks under the Ethernet controller multimedia Audio controller and Network controller.
