we recently decided to put wireless in the house, and the problems really started from there. The internet was really slow, especially considering the bandwidth was upgraded as well (since my dad thought the internet seemed slower on wireless, though I thought it was expected). I have this really old laptop with Vista/Fedora dual boot and the internet works fine there; my dad's laptop also works fine, but the home's desktop (which has the wireless adapter) is incredibly slow. I've tried uninstalling the LinkSys wireless manager and letting windows handle it, but no luck there. I thought maybe it was cluttered with stuff or maybe it was infected but Avira and SuperAntiSpyware only find a couple of cookies which they delete at the end of their scan.
I should mention that with the upgrade in bandwidth we got a new router (or modem? whatever); I can't quite remember if the internet was slow before or after, but it was put up after the wireless.

Internet has been slow over the past couple of months. It was fine before, but now I can't surf the web for more than 5 minutes without getting a white screen. I also checked my ping and it averaged 1200 ms ping.

I have a new Win7 Toshiba laptop here which can hardly connect to the internet. Sometimes, it cannot even see the router. When it can see the router and connect to the internet, speeds are so slow that most web pages cannot load (Google comes up, searches are slow, can't open any sites). The new laptop is attempting its connection through wireless. My Device Properties says I have an Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). Wireless Network Connection Properties says I'm connecting using Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. I'm sending and receiving millions of packets, getting great signal quality, and have 144.0 Mbps. IPv4 is connected but IPv6 is getting no internet. The router is a Linksys, though I don't know the model number.I am typing this on another laptop that is connecting via wireless, also a Toshiba. I have another laptop and desktop which can connect via wireless and three desktops which connect via ethernet cable. [code] I'm reasonably good with computers but step-by-step instructions don't hurt. How to get the internet working well on this new laptop.

I've gotten a Lenovo Laptop recently. As soon as I got it I went home and set it up. As soon as I got use to Windows * I went to Desktop and the following happened.I tried to go to Internet Explorer to try to search for a different browser and everything loaded up slow, the connection is 4 bars but it still is slow. It was a miracle I even got to download anything. After I got Google Chrome I decided to go on YouTube to test if it was slow as well. The videos need time to buffer even if on 240p. On my PC the internet loads fast, no need to buffer videos at all and the other webpages load fast too. I have a Ps3 here too, but it's YouTube app's videos load fast too, no need to buffer. I can play online with 4 bars and no problems at all. Why is the internet so slow on my laptop?

My internet speed should be 60Mbit, and this is what my old laptop was giving me. However, my new laptop seems to reach only 5MBit, before dropping to zero. This occurs on a cyclical basis every 10/20 seconds or so, and means that files are downloaded very slowly indeed. I have tried updating my wifi drivers, and this hasn't solved the problem.

I have a g74s Upgraded laptop, very fast, best computer BY FAR in my house. We just got new internet, modem and everything. Every computer in the house has about 6mb/s download speed, mine varies from 800-1.6mb. I am the closest in the house to the router, and I even plug it in directly and that doesn't even work. My ping is over 800 -_- I also cant watch any videos. Just black screens. But the really messed up part, I took my laptop to my friends house, and everything worked perfectly as it should. I tried disabling firewalls and everything, I just can't do anything here. I don't really download anything, Ive cleared my cookies, everything, I pretty much just play starcraft, and I can't like this.

I am having trouble loading pages in a browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, makes no difference). My network is on a 101.140.228.x ip scheme because that's what the wireless network is set too and we can't change that. (It's built into the hub and the manufacturer doesn't let us change it. The computer I am having trouble with is cabled into a Netgear Access Point in client mode. The Access Point is working basically like an oversized network card to pick up the wireless network across the field with the 101.140.x.x ip.

Running xp pro, IE 8,FF 18.1, Aol 9.6.All three browser are now running very slow.I have fios, had test done and is 18 or 19 meg down and about 4.5 meg up.I have run spywear (2 different one) nothing. Run N I Security.Problem started about 1-2 weeks ago with FF ,did not notice then if it started with others. I have two laptops (xp pro &MS 7) on network and they are OK.Just my desktop that is hard wired, is the only computer that goes very slow on the internet. It does not matter if the laptops are connected or not ,still a problem with the desktop.I have checked the router home page and only see my computers hooked up.What I mean by being slow ---web pages (tabs) take 2-5 minutes to load or longer.AOL has always been slow but FF was much better. now FF is really bad. IE is just a little better than aol. I did a total reset and then a uninstall and reinstall.Nothing, then noticed that the other browsers are slower to.

So recently got broadband in the new house, and the line got activated last night. All my housemates seem to be getting the internet fine on their laptops but I can't. When on wireless, the speed is VERY slow. Some pages, like google's home page can take 2 minutes to load and image heavy sites such as Youtube home page, with all their thumbnails will not load at all, except once in a while albeit without the images.

I have a network of 6 computers that is not managed by a server. ISP has provisioned for 17Mb down and about 5Mb up. When I isolate the router provided by my ISP, I get optimal speed, but over the network speed tests show 2Mb down and 4Mb up. I don't see any network usage that would explain the drop down in speed.
So far I have powercycled all my network devices and replaced the cat5 cable that goes from the ISP's router to the switch.

I bought a new linksys router. Set it up and now when I am downloading something and surfing the web I can't connect to websites (DNS lookup fails). However, the download continues fine. This problem seems to be isolated to my Mac, as the other computer in the house work fine. Qos is disabled.

I decided to upgrade my OS from Win 7 Pro 32 bit to Ultimate 64 bit because i needed more RAM ( I have 4 GB RAM but only 3.5 of it was usable. I want all of the 4 GB because I am getting BF3 soon) and for my new graphics card (GTX 550ti) so i formatted my Hard Drive after backing everything up on an external Hard Drive. Everything went smoothly until I had to browse the internet. Internet works, but it is very slow. It was working as normal when I had the 32 bit OS. Download Speeds are 8 kbps. I tried using the netsh int tcp set global autotuning=disabled in command prompt but no result. I tried removing and Re-inserting my Wi-fi adapter, no result. I don't want to be forced to downgrade to a 32 bit OS again . I am at a loss here and really want my fast internet back. [code] My Internet Connection is 4MB. My router is a Linksys Wireless-N Router and the Modem is provided by my ISP. The signal strength from the position of my PC is decent but internet is VERY SLOW!

I just installed a wifi card in the back of my computer. it only seems to recognize about half of the networks that my laptop recognizes (sometimes it doesn't seem to find my own wifi for a while), but shows everything with full green bars. connecting is difficult but can be done. it shows that my connection is healthy, but the internet is very very slow, it takes about a minute to load google. i am comparing the connection on my machine to the one on my laptop, and they seem pretty much identical (this is info i've gathered through ipconfig /all and also network connection details in windows 7). the only different information is that the IPv4 addresses are slightly different for each machine (which i think is correct). when i diagnose the connection it says that ''the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding"
i've tried flushing and renewing and releasing my IP in command, i've rebooted and reset the router about a billion times to no avail, i've got the latest drivers for the wifi card ('sabrent wireless-g 802.11g pci adapter / ralink turbo wireless lan card).. i tried changing my preferred/alternate DNS entries to google and the other one everyone recommends.. nothing is working. the internet is still exceptionally slow and the connection occasionally drops for a second or two.

For the past two weeks or so, my internet connection on my pc has become extremely slow(from 200kb to 10). Not only has it gotten slower, i also cannot download anything without the connection stopping. The problem, i believe began a couple months ago with just youtube videos streaming slower and downloads stopping ever few minutes, but until these past two weeks its never been that much of a issue. I know the problem is isn't my dsl because it works fine with other internet capable electronics so it must be a software/driver issue. The svchost uses up 100% of the CPU when something tries to update so it likely might be a windows based program acting up.

For the past week my internet has been extremely slow, I can watch a South Park episode online and it'll take me at least one hour before I can watch the entire thing because it keeps buffering every 20 seconds. I can barely browse MMO-Champion because it takes one minute to load. Every site takes forever to load. And it's just on my stationary computer. My laptop and mobile phone works just fine. It feels like I've tried everything:
* I've cleaned cache and cookies and stuff like that with CCleaner.
* I've used my console and done all that ipconfig stuff with /flushdns etc etc
* I've used my console and done all that netsh stuff as well
* I've tried to reset my router
* I've tried to use that Microsoft Fix-It program to do whatever it does.
* I've looked through my computer with my anti-virus and anti-malware
* I've installed the latest drivers for my network card/adapter
* I've fixed options on the computer that would allow my computer to perform better
* I've purchased another wireless adapter just to see if that was the problem
* And finally, yes, I've tried restarting the computer

I just switched from xfinity to brighthouse networks after moving and now my desktop internet is extremely slow. I did lower my internet speed from 15 down and 3 up to 7 down .5 up. I realize that alone will make it slower, but this is ridiculous slow and its just on my desktop. My labtop is fine, but the desktop takes 15-20 seconds to load this page.Have ran spybot, and windows security essentials scan and all windows updates.
Speed test on desktop:
Down: 6.8m (847kb/sec)
Up: .5m (61kb/sec)
Setup:
Amd Athlon II x4 635 @ 3.2 ghz
MB: Asus m4a785td-m evo
2x1 gb kingston hyperx
windows 7 home premium
Everything else on the computer runs fine, all windows and programs open normally, however I can not connect to the steam network. Makes me think it is router or modem related.

We have just been upgraded from a 2MB Leased Line to 10MB Leased Line from Virgin Media. When a PC is plugged directly in VM's Cisco router they get around 9.5MB. However when a PC is connected through our Firebox X700 (Watchguard Version 7.4.B2040) we only get 1.5-2MB (I have had an instance of getting 5.5MB but that seems a one off).Virgin say it is a problem with the firebox and I'd have to agree seeing as they get high speed when connected directly to their Cisco box.

I recently set up a router to have wireless internet at my house, and I've been experiencing very slow internet speeds. My internet specs are below:
ISP: Comcast
Plan: BlastPlus, which supposedly gives speeds of up to 40 mbps
Modem: Ubee D3.0
Router: Cisco/Linksys E1200
Before we got the router we used a wired connection which could only have one person connected at a time. That connection was a good speed, though I don't know exactly how fast. It never gave us any trouble. Now that we connected our router, we can't even stream youtube videos or anything. Emails take a long time to open, and navigating web pages in general is very slow.

I'm not the sole user of this computer, I woke up a few hours ago and my roommate tells me that the internet suddenly slowed down to a ridiculous speed, we haven't come close to exceeding the data usage from our provider. We use DSL broadband, not wireless. Some pages partially load, some pages do not load at all and some load completely but after a really long time. When I open a youtube vid a fraction of it loads before it stops, then when I click to skip a bit of the video the same problem happens (but sometimes the video completely loads...). I only use chrome but the speed is the same on IE and firefox as well.
Maybe a year or two ago, a computer guy installed all the antivirus things and programs necessary when we previously had problems. Not sure what it is....but an ESET Nod32 frame thing appears every time the computer starts for a few seconds so i assume (?) that this is our antivirus. Again, pretty much retarded computer-wise here haha. I find ESET nod32 in the start bar to see if maybe i can click it or run a scan or something but after I click it nothing happens at all....Not sure how relevant this is but this is the system info recommended by this website:
Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version 1.0.0.2

the internet today became insanely slow (I have wireless fyi) , something like 100 kb/s which used to be 2.0 mb/s. I can't even load a YouTube video at 360p. A few things have happened recently which may be the cause. First, I left my computer on all night, but since it has been off, so I don't think thats it. My mom recently turned off my computer by holding down the power button. I have searched my computer for viruses with 4 different programs and nothing has come up. I have also restarted my router and modem multiple times and nothing has happened. AND, I did a 3 hour long fragmentation of my hard drive/ cleaning of the computer.
