My internet speed should be 60Mbit, and this is what my old laptop was giving me. However, my new laptop seems to reach only 5MBit, before dropping to zero.This occurs on a cyclical basis every 10/20 seconds or so, and means that files are downloaded very slowly indeed. I have tried updating my wifi drivers, and this hasn't solved the problem.

1 - Open Internet Explorer
2 - Receive "Cannot Display Webpage" message.
3 - Refresh page quickly and the page shows up.
sometimes step 3 takes 3 or 4 times, seems to be getting worse as the problem has been around longer, but most of the time a quick refresh works. Same thing happens with Pandora, my standalone player for Pandora will lose connection but come back with a quick "RECONNECT" button.So, as you can see, it's only dropping out for seconds, 1 - 30 seconds at the most, my thouoght is the Ethernet card??

Latency is high when pinging commercial website like yahoo.com,it shoots up to 200sec. ISP router is connected to two HP Procurve Switch, then the workstation and servers. Already did a router/modem test and it failed, I advise our ISP to change the router but it were still experiencing the same problem. Network drop is also experience even after office hours, eventhough only few workstations are working.

We don't have an 'IT Department' as such as I'm the closest thing to it.When a browser is opened it will not connect to the homepage, or if it does its generally from cache, instead an error message about not being able to connect to server will appear. Now if you hit refresh you might or might not connect to the webpage in question but you can gurantee that it will take a long time to make that connection even on an undemanding site like wikipedia.The odd thing is that when connected to a speed checker it gives no surprising results, speed is normal. Also when downloading a file or the latest linux live distribution torrent I can achieve maximum speeds available to us.We use a selecction of Macs & PCs mostly connecting through ethernet cabling although connecting wirelessly is no different. We use BT 2Wire 2700HGV Business Hubs. I can't think of any changes our end that have happened to cause this and our internal network connections run just fine. I have tried pinging from the command line and it looks ok to my limited expertise, no lost packets.

Recently to my regret we moved broadband (amongst other utilities)to Utility Warehouse (UTW) who's broadband is through Telecom Plus. Anyway since joining with them I have had no end of bother with intermittent internet connection. Sometimes we get a stationary green broadband light then after a little while then we get a flashing green broadband light. We are constantly either pin resetting the router or switching it on and off at the rear, where it will work for a small amount of time then connection is lost again. The router that they have given us is a technicolor tg582n Pro. We have had two of these as originally we thought that the router could be faulty but obviously that is not the problem as even the second one is dropping our connection. We bought another filter incase that was the problem and even tried plugging router directly into phone box and still didnt work. Utility Warehouse have been about as much use as a chocolate teapot and we are so <unhappy> that we are paying for a service that does not work? They said that our cordless phones could be interfering with the signal? Is this maybe the case and the phones are running on same channel as router thus causing interference? We had these same phones when we with sky and they never caused interference with our broadband. I was going to try connecting my laptop via ethernet cable to router. Sometimes the landline crackles (since UTW installed a new landline & new tel number) so it could even be that? UTW will not send an enginneer out to check their line. we are at our wits end, about to cancel their broadband and go back to reliable sky.

I have called tech support 4 times now, and I still can't get everything to play nice...I have the 655 set up as a wireless router to a Windows 7 laptop, one iPad, two iTouches, and one N3DS. I can't find a setting that will work with all devices. Here are the senarios...
1) Settings: Wireless enabled, 802.11n only, Auto Scan off-channel set to 1, Best Transmission rate, Channel Width Auto 20/40, Visible, Auto WPA Mode with AES Cipher and a pre-share key. This yields fantastic results with my laptop, it can stream video for entire episodes, and I have no problems with loading webpages in either IE or Firefox. However, it does not support the kids iTouches or N3DS.
2) Changed the above to mixed 802.11n/g AND ALSO tried 802.11 only: iTouches work and can connect to the internet, but laptop doesn't like it. I get "Problem loading webpage" every other time I access and website, and streaming stop every 5-6 minutes. Bars indicate wireless signal is strong, but intermittently get that yellow triangle.

Recently my router have been experiencing an issue with internet connectivity with Unifi.I will be able to connect to Unifi, the status is "Connected". However after some time though, like 5 - 10 mins, I will be no longer able to browser any pages or get disconnected from online games. Checking through ping tests, I can see that I am unable to get a response. Checking the router shows that I am still connected to Unifi. After a minute or so the connectivity is restored, but the issue happens again as before. This happens with both wireless and cable. Attached is a sample of the ping test result.
Things I have tried:
Updating the firmware to the latest version
Re-configuring the modem
Re-setting the Unif credentials in the router
Downgrading the firmware
I have reason to be suspicious as to the game's relevance. These spikes are characterized by no packet loss, as measured by pingplotter and winmtr (more specifically, there is packet loss, but I've come to understand that because it does not continue on to subsequent jumps it's not an issue), and latency leaping to between 250 and 600ms across multiple hops, seemingly without pattern or form, for intervals
Here are some summaries of some extended pingplotter sessions. The suspicion that this is not entirely WoW related is recent, so I'm working on seeing if I can get similar results from some other sources.

I have had DSL service for several years from a small, local ISP, that pays Verizon for the use of their lines. On 1/2/2012 in mid-morning I began experiencing lack of connectivity. I noticed that the "link" light on my DSL modem was blinking. I tried turning everything off & starting up again but to no avail. In the morning, I turned everything on again & for about 45 minutes my DSL service was perfect. Then it became intermittent & mostly unavailable.

I had been running the network on 10 workstations prior to moving the server to our new location about a month ago. All was working well. We had run with the 15 workstations no problem in our new facility for several weeks. many of the computers are dropping the network connection now intermittently, with no predictable pattern. One of them has been experiencing an odd problem for about six months now, and now that school is out I have time to mess with it. When I try to do certain things, the download speed periodically drops to zero. Specifically, I've noticed it when using Firefox and Steam, but also for IE and a few other browsers I installed for the sake of testing. I know I'm not *losing* connectivity, because everything that isn't specifically downloading a file works fine. Skype calls work fine, Utorrent streams at a steady rate, but for some reason Steam and Firefox have speed graphs that look like the heart rate monitor of someone with a very weak pulse. It starts off strong, a nice solid 1 MB per second, and then after 10-30 seconds it'll slowly decline to 0, and sit there for anywhere from 10 seconds to half an hour before picking up to full speed again. I've tried reinstalling drivers, I've tried buying a new network card, I've tried running antivirus scans, and I've tried uninstalling my antiviruses. The only thing that works for sure is putting it into safe mode. In safe mode, the downloads proceed smoothly. I tried making a list of everything that ran in safe mode, and then rebooted into normal mode and closed each nonessential process and service, but that didn't work either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRunning 5 PC's and a laptop on a wired/wireless network at home. One PC running Win XP Pro started dropping the network connection (so it appeared) during browsing. Have found the following:
1. MSN messenger runs fine, and doesn't drop out
2. AVG antivirus updates with no issues
3. Web Pages in Chrome and IE will load fine one minute, then cannot load or pause for 1-2 minutes while loading
4. Can ping web addresses/IP addresses from command prompt with no issue.
5. Have changed the network connection from Ethernet to Wireless, which makes no difference to the issue.
6. If I "repair" the connection, and the network refreshes the IP address, I can browse successfully, for about a minute, before the issue occurs again. "Repair connection" again and can browse again for a minute.
7. Checking connected devices to the Netgear router, shows the PC name sometimes, against the IP address, other times it shows the PC as "unknown" against the PC address (when this occurs, web browsing is lost)
8. All other PC's on the network are fine.
When I play games that are downloaded to my PC from Aeria games I run into intermittent latency. It happens every 6 minutes and last for about 4 minutes so for every ten minutes I get to play about 6 minutes. It only happens with Aeria games; all of them.Is this an issue with my connection to the server or is it possible that it is due to security software?

He has a HP running Vista, a netgear grt614 vs10 router, and a static IP address through Verizon. My problem is this. I set up port forwarding for port 80. All seems to work well sometimes and I can connect to his DVR no problem. Then other times I can't connect at all. I'll run a port checker and it will tell me port 80 is closed. Is it possible that Verizon will off and on block inbound port 80? I seem to only be able to connect during buisness hours. Is it possible that his PC needs to be on for the port to be open. The DVR is the server which is always on and the router is always on. I don't know why the computer would have to be on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a user that uses an ASA 5505 in NEM to have his/her laptop and Cisco IP Phone at home. The ASA 5505 establishes a tunnel to an ASA 5510, which is connected and speaking EIGRP to our core switch. Off of the core switch we have our CCM cluster.
The issue happens on the first call after a long period of no calls. After if happens on the first call, he/she can continue to make calls without the issue. I though it was a timeout issue, but his/her ASA configuration is the exact same. Also, he/she is using the same group policy, tunnel-group etc. as everyone else with the same setup.
This issue happens regardless if she has a PC behind the phone or not.Internal calls and external are both affected.
I am aware that most one-audio issues are RTP connectivity issues between the two endpoints. I can clearly see in the routing table of all of our routers, that the route to the subnet her phone is on has not changed for days, and she has had the issue within that amount of time.
I'm looking for a good place to start troubleshooting that doesn't require me to to a pcap. If all else fails, I will do a pcap.
I am running an 877W in the home that for the most part works fine, however after being connected for a variable amount of time I partially loose my DSL connection. Line sync stays up, but the traffic is lost.
A shut/no sut of the atm or dialer interfaces does not resolve the issue, only a reload or power down/up will fix the prob short term till it happens again.
Am currently running advipservicesk9-mz.151-3.T1, but have also rolled back to advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T5 which has the same issue. Have tried a 857W with the same results. So ruling out IOS and hardware, its pointing to a config issue. It has also only been an issue since changing from ADSL1 to ADSL2+.

View 5 Replies View Relatedwe recently decided to put wireless in the house, and the problems really started from there. The internet was really slow, especially considering the bandwidth was upgraded as well (since my dad thought the internet seemed slower on wireless, though I thought it was expected). I have this really old laptop with Vista/Fedora dual boot and the internet works fine there; my dad's laptop also works fine, but the home's desktop (which has the wireless adapter) is incredibly slow. I've tried uninstalling the LinkSys wireless manager and letting windows handle it, but no luck there. I thought maybe it was cluttered with stuff or maybe it was infected but Avira and SuperAntiSpyware only find a couple of cookies which they delete at the end of their scan.
I should mention that with the upgrade in bandwidth we got a new router (or modem? whatever); I can't quite remember if the internet was slow before or after, but it was put up after the wireless.
Internet has been slow over the past couple of months. It was fine before, but now I can't surf the web for more than 5 minutes without getting a white screen. I also checked my ping and it averaged 1200 ms ping.

I am running a home network with a wired desktop connected via ethernet, two laptops, one desktop and three ipods connected wirelessly to the router.The problem is that at seemingly random times during the day the ability to connect to the internet is lost on all devices (wired or no). I also often lose the ability to connect to the router's homepage (settings) and upon inspection have found that when I ping the router I get time-outs (or sometimes destination host unreachable). This occurs on both wired and wireless at the same time and usually lasts anywhere from 10seconds to 10minutes at a time. I have reset the router numerous times including a reset via the web browser, unplugging the router and reconnecting and also have done a factory reset to attempt to solve the problem - all to no avail. As I am writing this I am using a different older router that so far (as of an hour) has not had the same issues.I should also mention that this happens regardless of which devices are currently on the network. I have had this problem with the wired-connection by itself and with my wireless laptop by itself.

It's been doing this over the lifespan of one router, and continued into the life of this new one I have, which is a WNDR3700v3 Netgear.
I called my ISP and they fiddled around with things on my computer, but the issue is still going on. Rather than slog through another three hours with them, does anyone here have any tips for what I might look into for the cause?
My advent 4211 has intermittent wireless connectivity.I have tried resetting the channel on the hub, but have had no luck thus far.
