Internet Shows Its Connected But Browsers And Email Do Not Work

my neighbor is having a problem with her computer, its an HP touch smart [not sure of model] every other computer in her household works [1x wired 1x wireless].
the computer in question has had repeated problems and various hardware issues and has been sent out for repair on more than one occasion all for non software related issues, i take care of software issues and diagnose hardware problems and i have done so without a hitch until now.
when the problem first started happening i would do a system restore to a point were it was working, but that does not seem to be working anymore
i have tried disabling firewalls [she uses AVG internet security edition which is on all of her computers], windows firewall, disabling and re-enabling network drivers, updating drivers, installing different and previous versions of browsers

I can log into MSN and Steam is still connected, etc, but neither IE nor Firefox work. The internet still works in safe mode with networking, and Windows can't find a problem at all. I've run Avast and Spybot in safe and normal mode and they can't find anything. Reset the browsers and my IP address. Friend downloaded Winsockfixer or something and that didn't work either. I really don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall Windows? My computer is an HP Pavilion with Windows 7.

I have a Dell Studio 1737 running Windows 7 64 bit. I turned it on today and it automatically connected to my home network as usual and when I hover over the network icon it says there is Internet Access but when I open Firefox it can not connect to any websites. When I run the automatic troubleshooter, it does not detect any problems with the connectivity.
I ran ipconfig /all and this is what came up:

I'm having trouble getting any web browser to work/recognize my connection. I've confirmed that I am indeed connected to the internet (I know this because, for example, I have no problem at all downloading games via Steam). For some reason, though, when it comes to surfing the web using a browser it's as if I'm not connected (even Steam can't load the Store page, I can only download games via the Library).I moved an infection a week or two ago, and I suspect it altered something that is causing this issue. I did get some advice to open the browser and go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings and make sure "Automatically detect settings" was checked, and "Use proxy server for your LAN" was not checked.I did this, and in fact "Use proxy server" WAS checked while Automatically detect settings" WAS NOT checked.

I can connect wirelessly at home, yahoo messenger and skype work, but google chrome nor firefox are working. this happened after windows 7 blue screened.I can connect to my mom's wireless network but then it says No internet access....

IE and Firefox both refused to load my homepage (google) or any other page in my bookmarks. Uninstalled and reinstalled both, even going back a couple of versions and still nothing. I know I'm connected as my iPhone works fine. With this in mind, I tried opening up safari to see what that would do and to my supprise, it works fine, bit slow but still, at least it works. So now I defiantly know that the Internet is working.

as gone all of a sudden. Checked cables, restarted both router and PC, and even rang provider with questions.. Router seems to be working fine as laptop and iphone both got internet access with the same router. The Local area connection icon showed limited on no connectivity snd so the provider renewed the IP manually and local area connection says its connected now but there is no internet access.. They suggest it could be something to do with firewall or something else blocking it but as far as I am concerned I did not make any changes to the pc the night before when it was actually proper connected.. The desktop pc is running windows XP and I tried downloading ethernet controller driver from the web and upgrading it but it did not improve the situation.

I see some other threads about this same thing but I wanted to start my own to keep track if what I did. I know zilch about computers.I have an ACER I got less than a month ago. I have Verizon mifi. Windows 7My comptuer says I am connected but it says no internet access. The wifi works fine on my old netbook though. I keep getting error 105 Unable to resolve the server's DNS address. What do I do?

My computer (running windows XP and connected to the internet with a D Link USB adapter) refuses to load any webpages: despite showing full signal strength and connection in both the D Link settings and the windows XP wireless panel.I am able to ping websites and other computers in the house (all of which are able to access the internet) but no pages load in any browser I try.

I have been using Dell Vostro-1320 laptop with Windows XP. It was running good. Recently I have installed the McAfee Internet Security software. But now I do not have internet access through this laptop although the network icon shows "connected". I have tried all the advice/solutions for such type of problem by doing Firewall off/on and changing adapter & network setting. I also updated all the drivers. But nothing works. It is notable that my other desktop is working properly in spite of installing this software.

I am having Inspiron N4010 for almost an year now. I have had many troubles with this but never with internet connectivity. Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.

im at university and im trying to get connected with their wifi. When i start up the computer it says that I am connected but when i try to access the internet it won't load. I have tried doing a virus scan and i have tried using other browsers but i still can't figure out how to fix it. Also, it works when I plug an ethernet cable into the wall but as soon as i take it out it stops working.

I have been having problem with my internet lately. I live in UK and there is this game that I used to play that has a region IP block so I have to use Hotspot shield to play,but now my internet doesn't connect to Hotmail or this forum unless hotspot shield is turned on. I have a Windows 7 Laptop which has got a red X on the connectivity icon even when connected, and this since april. Now, I don't have any idea of what caused it. I have Tunngle installed, but i don't think that's the problem. I also have updated my internet drivers, but without success. The route is connected to that. Wirelessly, there are two laptops and sometimes an iPad and sometimes a Wii. Verizon DSL. I barely use my laptop during the week, but did notice some connection issues maybe Thursday and Friday nights. All day yesterday and today, as well. I will have a connection for maybe 5 minutes and then get errors loading webpages (and/or videos stopped). I will repair the connection and it will say everything is fine but it will not work, repair again or disconnect/reconnect(sometimes, several times) and then it works for 5 minutes or 20 minutes before the same thing happens. The other laptop is having the same problems. What I have tried so far: restarting the PC, both laptops, the router, and the modem. Resetting the modem. I have not moved any furniture or anything that would cause interference. I am worried because I have been trying to make more money and started at this site called Treasure Trooper which seemed okay-surveys and the like. There were a few pay-to-download things I downloaded but did not run. Avira found a trojan and I deleted it (not sure if the two are related, but I can not think of anything else I have downloaded or installed in the past month or so).The old PC is off; the Wii is on but probably only maintains a small connection. The iPad and other laptop are not mine, but if either is on, they probably have little to no activity right now since the user is away.

My Acer One Aspire wireless connection shows connected but I cant get any Firefox browser to work.
I have a D-link DIR-825 router and it has worked every time except today. I havent used my Netbook very much at home though, maybe a few times a year as I usually take it with me on trips.
I attempted to narrow down the problem. I called D-link as my router was still under warranty. They advised clearing all my old connections and rebooting but I got the same problem. I told them my Sony PS3 works, so they suggested I contact Acer as they think it is not the router. My direct hardwire connection also works.
I then took my Netbook to Best Buy and it worked there. The guy said they can pay a visit to my house as it is probably interference of some sort. This will cost $100. Why would my PS3 work if it was interference? Maybe it�s the proximity of my Netbook to something, but I tried it near my PS3 and it still had the same problem.
Id rather try to solve the problem myself first. I havent changed anything except a modem and Windows 7 updates.

I've switched internet provider from Verizon DSL to Comcast cable just a month ago. Since that time my wife can no longer connect to her work email? I've call comcast many times since the only thing that changed was provider? This is the error I get now

I've tried explorer and taken down the firewalls, I had her school IT person remote access to my computer to see if it is on their end...still she can't connect. We can access from other computers (my work) but still not on my home computer (windows vista) Comcast now tells me not there problem since I can connect to internet? I've also changed my norton protect to AVG to see if that was an issue..

I'm trying to get a wireless router working for friends. I got it to work yesterday, but now it is no longer working. [code] If I connect my computer to the HAG, it, of course, works fine.Yesterday, I hit the reset button on the back of the conitech router (because they didn't have the password) and went through the setup wizard, connecting my HAG to the WAN port on the router and it worked fine, both connecting via wireless and with a cable to one of the LAN ports on the router.Today it is no longer working. Both wireless and LAN show it is connected but I can't access the internet.

when I hover my mouse over my signal bars it says I am connected to a network named 'home-9C78' but when I click to bring up my list of available networks, it says I am connected to a network named 'Reshiram' Reshiram is the name of my network and there is NO 'home-9C78' ANYWHERE in the list!!! I don't know where my computer gets this home-9C78!!! and I NEVER ever connected to a network with that name!!! it is supposed to be 'Reshiram

I recently set up two cameras. I had set up one for motion detection and email to a gmail account. It seemed to work fine, but then for some reason the motion detection tab didn't show the room like it did before. It doesn't show any picture or anything like it did before, so I couldn't choose the squares to choose the detection area. This is through mydlink account->camera info->advanced settings, and logging in to the camera remotely.So I switched to the other camera, and got it working as of last week. But now, the motion detection doesn't work anymore? It appears to be related to the username/password for the email account. I can no longer send test emails, it says invalid username/password, though the exact same values worked last week, and I didn't change anything. I tried resetting it, then setting it again, but no luck.
