Modem goes dead immediately after 3rd light goes solid. All lights go out and the modem stops functioning completely. Using the reset button gives no response, the modem stays dead. Upon unplugging and plugging it back in, the modem turns back on and cycles through the lights, only to die out once again.I was initially able to get it to stay alive by starting it with the Ethernet cable disconnected then plugging it in once the modem had connected, which I found odd. After a relatively short period, say 20 minutes, the modem would randomly die out again. However even that has since stopped working.

Oct 29, 2008I had a surfboard 4200 (motorola) and it worked fine for quite a few years but the speed would drop down for some reason every now and then (majory, from 250 KB/s to 50 KB/s). I bought a CM100 linksys but when I plug it all in it never finds the signal, the motorola still connects fine. I had the ISP delete my modem profile but it still wont connect, it wont even find the signal.

May 10, 2012My router refuses to link to the internet. Status indicates Interface: Down. I thought this was probably a firmware upgrade issue but can only find v1.01.03 which is already installed. Linksys website has no firmware listed for download.
I have downloaded and re-installed the v1.01.03 .img file with no effect. Is this the latest firmware for this model?

Jun 11, 2012I made the change WAG120G (GREAT) for WAG120N (**bleep**) and I confess that I was somewhat disappointed, the quality of the company fell dramatically. Unlike its predecessor this modem / router is bad in many ways and first of them is support for Macintosh products, the connection drops constantly and have to get on and off the wifi to work. The modem restarts and constantly drops the connection status and its predecessor NEVER did that. iPad, iPhone and Macbook can not even keep me surfing for more than one hour, the connection just stops working. Even the cable connection, my Xbox sometimes worth it to maintain a stable connection in Live. The modem has been updated with the latest firmware version (1.0.0.16). Nov 22, 2010I've been using the WAG54G2 for some time now, recently I set up a range extender and had some issues so one thing I tried was to upgrade the firmware. It was very unclear on this website where to find it (specifically for the G2). I went here but there were 2 files, Annex A or B? [irl].... The instructions are also very unclear on this. But more frustratingly the zip file just contains an ".img" file - no ".bin" as the instructions say. So i tried the manual firmware upgrade using this file and shortly after the message "...whatever you do - do not close the browser or restart the router during the upgrade..." (or similar) the router crashed, so I had to restart it and the browser. Now I think I may have introduced an error as the once perfectly-performing router occasionally drops the internet connection for a few minutes. With my work I need 100% uptime.

Mar 30, 2012Short version: when running devices through my e2000 into my CM100 modem, internet access is unstable, packets are lost, and certain websites simply will not load. I am using my apartment complex's **bleep** internet (and I have no choice in the matter) which registered the MAC address of the CM 100. When I run through the CM100 directly, everything works fine. What can I do to fix this?
Long version: I have an e2000 router connected to my PC, Xbox, and wireless devices. The router is then connected to a CM100 cable modem. The modem is connected to my apartment complex's internet access. They required the MAC address of the cable modem. The routed showed an apartment complex domain when I went hunting around, but there is no login to it, and I was never told anything else about the connection.
When I run the router through the modem, the internet access is lousy. Certain websites will never load, the connection drops, and packets are lost. When I run directly through the modem, the connection works perfectly.
I note that the CM100 assigns IP addresses if it cannot get any from the ISP, and there appears to be no way to turn it off. I have tried disabling DHCP on the router, but it did not work. I have changed the router's IP address, but that did not work. I have even tried turnign the router into a simple wireless access point, but that did not work. The modem is at 192.168.100.1, while the router is on 192.168.1.1. Should I change my router's location to 192.168.100.x?

I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have just downloaded and installed the latest firmware update for the BEFSX41 (1.52.16.4). When the installation was complete, my network connection dropped out. I then got a "searching for ip address" icon in my notification bar. The connection then completed and my network seems to be running as it should. Jul 31, 2011I had issues with my router incorrectly resolving URLs. For example, going to facebook.com would gtive me a "wiki does not exist" message. I have done several IP release/renew on the router. I have reset the router. To no avail. I just added a fourth location with the same router but this new router has firmware v2.x, where the others have firmware v1.x. When I connected the new router into the VPN network, it caused the other tunnels to go down. When I take the new router with firmware v2.x offline, everything else seems to work fine. Can the v2.x firmware cause the other VPNS on v1.x firmware to go down and not work properly? I've been using this router since 2006, upgrading the firmware to version 1.52.15 when released in 2007. At that time I think I selected the edition 1 rather than edition 2. Basing decision on the fact that the device had no indication of which model version was correct indicated on the manufacturing labels on the bottom. So I assume edition 1.
Is there any way to tell which hardware release I really have? Maybe by MAC address, or Serial number?
Have not had any problems with the 1.52.15 firmware version, however, I have seen numerous log entries for the following:

and

the sending URL indicated as a PRC (Chinese) university with negative traceroute results, nothing really alarming as nothing is getting inside the firewall. Just packets dropped from the senders IP. I am keeping track of the pattern and activity levels.
Will probably just block the whole addy range at the router firewall and PC firewall. AT&T is totally ineffective in blocking this sort of back alley activity.
I've seen only one brief and somewhat dated reference to the "ii=MAX_HTTPSESS" entry and will tackle that issue after updating the firmware to 1.52.16, I haven't found any authenticated tech references for this. I can only make some educated guesses on tweaking HTTP settings.
