Im having a bit of trouble, how am i supposed to update my router, i have DLed the tarballs from GPL and now im not sure how to update it, do i have to makefile? (im using ubuntu by the way which is handy if i have to build it!) and if i do have to makefile how do i do it?
View 2 RepliesThis is an interesting and don't know where to begin.From factory reset I connect a latop to 192.168.1.1 and change the IP address to my subnet 192.0.1.5/24. I disable DHCP too.THen i plug it in to my LAN and I can ping 192.0.1.5 but can't http to 192.0.1.5
So I remove from LAN, connect to my laptop, manually change my laptop op to 192.0.1.4/24 and then my laptop can http to the AG241 on Linksys AG241.Is there anything on the AG241 that could be confusing my LAN?
I am trying to setup a vpn tunnel on my AG241 router but not having too much luck. I am not on a static ip, i sort of get the feeling that as long as i know the current external ip address i should be able to get through to my xp machine with the shares on it.

I made the change WAG120G (GREAT) for WAG120N (**bleep**) and I confess that I was somewhat disappointed, the quality of the company fell dramatically. Unlike its predecessor this modem / router is bad in many ways and first of them is support for Macintosh products, the connection drops constantly and have to get on and off the wifi to work. The modem restarts and constantly drops the connection status and its predecessor NEVER did that. iPad, iPhone and Macbook can not even keep me surfing for more than one hour, the connection just stops working. Even the cable connection, my Xbox sometimes worth it to maintain a stable connection in Live. The modem has been updated with the latest firmware version (1.0.0.16). View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using the WAG54G2 for some time now, recently I set up a range extender and had some issues so one thing I tried was to upgrade the firmware. It was very unclear on this website where to find it (specifically for the G2). I went here but there were 2 files, Annex A or B? [irl].... The instructions are also very unclear on this. But more frustratingly the zip file just contains an ".img" file - no ".bin" as the instructions say. So i tried the manual firmware upgrade using this file and shortly after the message "...whatever you do - do not close the browser or restart the router during the upgrade..." (or similar) the router crashed, so I had to restart it and the browser. Now I think I may have introduced an error as the once perfectly-performing router occasionally drops the internet connection for a few minutes. With my work I need 100% uptime.

I am unable to open the admin webpage. I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have tried to do the 30/30/30 reset to no avail, i tried to do tftp downgrade to older firmware version but the tftp boot doesn't even start. I tried doing it through my router settings under administration -> firmware upgrade but it won't update automatically. I have to find the actual update file and update the firmware through that.
I have a WRT110 wireless router which disconnects suddenly and continuously. In addition, its performance is really poor. The current firmware installed is 1.0.03. I have just downloaded and installed the latest firmware update for the BEFSX41 (1.52.16.4). When the installation was complete, my network connection dropped out. I then got a "searching for ip address" icon in my notification bar. The connection then completed and my network seems to be running as it should. When I check the set-up screen for the router, it shows the new firmware version. Do I still need to re-set the router? I'm a bit confused by all of this. I have Comcast cable for my isp.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had issues with my router incorrectly resolving URLs. For example, going to facebook.com would gtive me a "wiki does not exist" message. Pinging facebook.com would give me an IP that belongs to wikipedia. The answer was SUPPOSED to be upgrading to v3.0.03.I upgraded and now my router WILL NOT connect to my DSL modem. Oh, it says it's connected and shows the correct IP address for my DSL modem but the gateway is showing 0.0.0.0. Direct connection to my PC works just fine.I have cycled the power on both the router and the DSL modem several times. The DSL modem is working just fine. I have done several IP release/renew on the router. I have reset the router. To no avail. This firmware update (which completed successfully) seems to have killed my routers ability to communitcate with the internet.

I just added a fourth location with the same router but this new router has firmware v2.x, where the others have firmware v1.x. When I connected the new router into the VPN network, it caused the other tunnels to go down. When I take the new router with firmware v2.x offline, everything else seems to work fine. Can the v2.x firmware cause the other VPNS on v1.x firmware to go down and not work properly? Do I need to upgrade the firmware so all 4 linksys wrvs4400n routers are operating the same version number so not to cause the tunnels to disconnect?

First the installation failed, double checked to make sure I downloaded the correct file (FW_WRT54G_8.1.09.02_US_20071227.bin), did a reset and power cycle. Checked the information again and everything on the router setup completely disappeared.

I've been using this router since 2006, upgrading the firmware to version 1.52.15 when released in 2007. At that time I think I selected the edition 1 rather than edition 2. Basing decision on the fact that the device had no indication of which model version was correct indicated on the manufacturing labels on the bottom. So I assume edition 1.
Is there any way to tell which hardware release I really have? Maybe by MAC address, or Serial number?
Have not had any problems with the 1.52.15 firmware version, however, I have seen numerous log entries for the following:

the sending URL indicated as a PRC (Chinese) university with negative traceroute results, nothing really alarming as nothing is getting inside the firewall. Just packets dropped from the senders IP. I am keeping track of the pattern and activity levels.
Will probably just block the whole addy range at the router firewall and PC firewall. AT&T is totally ineffective in blocking this sort of back alley activity.
I've seen only one brief and somewhat dated reference to the "ii=MAX_HTTPSESS" entry and will tackle that issue after updating the firmware to 1.52.16, I haven't found any authenticated tech references for this. I can only make some educated guesses on tweaking HTTP settings.
I have tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest greatest but keep getting the "Incorrect image file" error. I bought two of the V1 units and had no trouble with one of them but the other is frustrating me. I have reset it and even tried a tftp upgrade of the firmware but still get "Incorrect image file" even in tftp.
