Jan 18, 2011This is an interesting and don't know where to begin.From factory reset I connect a latop to 192.168.1.1 and change the IP address to my subnet 192.0.1.5/24. I disable DHCP too.THen i plug it in to my LAN and I can ping 192.0.1.5 but can't http to 192.0.1.5
So I remove from LAN, connect to my laptop, manually change my laptop op to 192.0.1.4/24 and then my laptop can http to the AG241 on Linksys AG241.Is there anything on the AG241 that could be confusing my LAN?

May 9, 2011We have a business need that we have to set up a IPsec L2L tunnel (from multiple locations) to a business partner, we require that the connection can only be initiated from our side, not business partner side. I searched the web, one option is configure our side ASA to initate IKE only, this does not seem to meet our requirement, because once IPsec SA is up, IP layer traffic will flow freely in either direction; the other option people suggested is to use VPN filter in tunnel group policy, but the documention of how to use this vpn-filter to enforce one way traffic policy is not crystal clear to me; I actually configured reflexive ACL on core L3 switch before the traffic hits ASA to reflect/evalulate specific traffic to businness partner's LAN network, that worked well. However one of our branch office's core L3 switch is Cat4K which does not support reflexive ACL with the image it is currently running, so I am stuck again .

Mar 24, 2011I'm attempting to configure a tunnel on a PIX-501 version 6.3. It's an old device that's due to be replaced soon, but unfortunately we need a tunnel now... I have been using this document as a reference (6211): URL ,The remote end is a sonicwall.
The problem seems to be that the pix never sees the interesting traffic for the tunnel, and never tries to initiate a connection. I have enabled crypto ipsec and crypto isakmp debugs, but no data is ever displayed, even when attempting to access a device on the remote side of the tunnel! Someone had tried to set up this device with some tunnels in the past, but was never successful, so I'm thinking there might be remaining commands in the running-config causing problems.

Sep 15, 2011We have purchased a couple of Cisco 891 routers - both are running IOS 15.0(1) M5 licensed with advanced IP services (default). The literature for these devices on Cisco's website claims they support IPsec stateful failover on advanced IP services.
Our intention is to configure them with HSRP and IPsec stateful failover to provide a highly-available default gateway and VPN end-point.
I have configured HSRP and that seems to work fine. My problem is that I cannot configure IPsec stateful failover. The documentation that I have found implies that I need to configure inter-device redundancy on a particular HSRP group and use the physical IP addresses on the interfaces within that group to allow stateful failover communication between the routers however the routers do not recognise the 'redundancy' command in config mode...

Jan 2, 2013I have an RV220w in office, which I have configure it for ipsec vpn connections. Behind router there is a NAS for file storage. [code]I have managed to connect to router from my home with ShrewVPN and I can ping every client connected to RV220w.The problem is that I can't connect to neither to router's web interface nor to NAS web interface or any other intranet web page ( the browser doesn't give any error, but keeps loading without showing the web page). Although, I can access web pages from my laptop.Also, in windows file explorer when I connect to NAS, although I can browse folders I can't copy files from my laptop to NAS and vice versa, I always get timeout error (I have checked the permissions to NAS and in addition I succeed to copy a small txt file 1kb, but no luck with bigger files).I also tried with QuickVPN client, but I had the same results. When I connect with pptp from windows everything works like a charm.My laptop has windows 7 64bit.

Mar 3, 2012This is for an ASA 5505. I am trying to configure an AnyConnect and IPSec VPN connection and I think it's almost there but not quite yet. When I login from an outside network it gives me the following error for the SSL AnyConnect "The VPN client was unable to setup IP filtering" and "Secure VPN connection terminated by peer" for the IPSec. I previously had this working since Oct, but I was trying to modify it a little to accept LT2P for native Android VPN clients and that messed up everything that I had working perfectly. I checked everything as best as I could to try and match the previous settings but still can't get the darn thing to work. I am trying to also do Hairpinning, I want all VPN traffic to pass through this router... remote LAN and Internet traffic for times when I am at unfamiliar wifi hotspots and need to check email securely. I have included my running config. I also need to configure the ASA to accept native Android VPN connections. I read the most popular thread that worked for a few users but while doing those modifications that is where everything went downhill. T

I am not referring to prioritizing certain type of traffic over the IPsec tunnel, I am referring to Tunnel 1 has 1.5 Mbits of BW guaranteed for all traffic that goes thru it. Same for tunnel 2

Jan 25, 2013I know the best thing one should do is install an ISA server and an Active Directory Domain Controller on separate servers. But for some reason, I want to configure my Windows Server 2003 as an ISA server as well as an Active Directory Domain Controller. What can happen to my server making it run improperly. For example, my ISA server will function mainly as a Firewall, I wonder if all the rules I create in ISA server determine what I mean it should work or I have to consider any affection from Active Directory DC to those rules?I have to ask this question because I've already installed both ISA and AD DC on my Windows Server 2003, already created an Allow. All rule (just for testing connection) in ISA server but I can't ping from all the clients to my server, all the clients can ping each other and the server itself can ping to all clients. I just think that may be the affection from AD DC to my AllowAll rule in ISA server.
I successfully created some rules that worked greatly as they should work but when I hadn't installed AD DC yet (just installed ISA), however right after installing AD DC, it still worked well (this made me think that AD DC didn't affect to how ISA works). Then I configured a little related to DNS server, and maybe something I don't remember exactly and now I can't ping from my client PC to my server. My network is virtualized using VMware 8 workstation and GNS3, at first there is no need of GNS3 because I just want to test my internal network (some clients connected to the internal interface of ISA server). Depending on VMware that I can't be sure if it is some fault of VMware or any other thing but my configuration on the servers.

The router must support wireless (latest "n" standard is a plus) and must have gigabit links for LAN at least. I have been considering the following two routers but neither has an IPSec VPN server built in to the router OS:
ASUS RT-N66U
MikroTik RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN
As far as I can tell they both have PPTP server functionality and only IPSec pass-through. I would like a router that has the server ability built in to the OS so I won't have to run an additional system behind my network edge. I can also look into any small to medium size business routers, just as long as it supports a majority of the same features of the two routers I have listed for comparison.

I've installed both the anyconnect and ipsec VPN clients and successfully connected for remote VPN server access; however, the client shows no packets being returned. Thinking that I misconfigured, I reset to the factory default and began again. Now I only have the ipsec vpn configured and I have exactly the same symptoms. I followed the directions for configuring the ipsec vpn in Document 68795 and rechecked my configuration and I don't see what I've done wrong. Given that I can connect to the internet from the inside network, and I can connect to the VPN from outside the network (and the ASDM Monitor shows an active connection with nothing sent to the client) I have to believe it is either a route or an access rule preventing communication but I can't quite figure out where (and I've tried static routes back to the ISP and a wide variety of access rules before flushing everything to start over).
