Jun 30, 2007I have a BEFSR41v3 and am trying to enable UPnP on the router. However, after I activate UPnP in my browser and the webpage reloads (after the common status screen that says you have to wait 5 seconds and you will be redirected). I am prompted for a password. But for some reason, it will not accept any password that I enter. In order to even get to the settings to UPnP in the first place, you must enter the correct password to access the settings. So I believe I am using the correct password, so why is it not accepting the correct password? I have had to reset my router to factory default settings (by pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds) multiple times because of this. But each time after enabling UPnP it will not accept the default password of admin nor will it accept any password that I assign it afterwards. I have noticed however that the "Filter Internal NAT Redirection" which should be set to enabled by default has been set to disabled even after I have reset the router. I have activated UPnP on the router before without trouble but have had to reset the router to factory default settings afterwards because of other reasons.

Sep 6, 2011As soon as i modify my wireless to be unsecured, I looy ability to usse me the internet on all wired ports as well as all wireless. From the routers point of view it still has a good solid internet connection. Passes traceroute, but wont allow any wired or wireless connections on the internet. I'm trying to get a Linksys WRE54G v1 to work with this so my parents can have internet once more. If i manualy remove the security to allow the one touch Auto configuration button to work i loose my ability to surf until i run the Cisco Connection software to turn back on the passwords.

I have been trying to open ports, testing them on a port checker website and they are always listed as closed. I have followed the guide on portforward.com perfectly with no luck.I have disabled Block Anonymous Internet Requests.I have disabled my Windows firewall, and AVS. Still cannot open ports.I have also updated to the latest firmware. I am using Win-7 x64.

I have followed the steps on the portforward website. I make a static IP and all that good stuff. I open the ports, using the IP address the Portforward static IP program gives me. After that...My computer stops working. It fails to connect me to any websites at all.I'm running a Linksys ea3500 router.

Aug 23, 2012I am using remote management to attempt to open port 8889 on my Linksys WRT54G router. I have successfully opened ports 22 and 80 with no problem. Additionally, I can close and reopen these ports without having to physically reset the router. However, if I try to open any other port (I have tried various ports: 23, 100, 8888, 8889, and several others) this port will not open. The ISP this router is connected to is Comcast and according to this site URL port 8889 isn't among the ports that Comcast blocks. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve this issue (short of manually resetting the router or restoring the default settings).

Dec 9, 2012I have been using Linksys routers for quite some time now, and recently made a big upgrade from the WRT54G to the E3000. I am familiar with the 192.168.1.1 interface and its functionality. However, I recently noticed a problem: when I set a port to forward traffic to any IP address on my network and then check whether or not it is actually open (url...), I am told that the port is still closed. More interestingly still, the first port that I forwarded when I first got the router is listed as open, but the other half dozen or so are still considered closed. I have been trying to set up a file transfer protocol (FTP) server, but can't even get traffic to forward from port 21! I even tried using the pre-configured FTP drop down on the Applications & Gaming tab, but to no avail. Has anyone had similar issues, or perhaps an idea as to why only one port is forwarded when I have followed the same steps that I have been using for years?
I tried to get in touch with Technical Support about this issue, but was told that I needed to purchase a $30 subscription in order to qualify for assistance. I don't think that I should have to pay $30 to know why the same steps work with some ports but not with others.
Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 Ports Not Open On DMZ Mode?
Oct 17, 2011I've DMZ'd my computer using the the E1200's Web Browser Config screen (192.168.1.1) yet when I try to test the ports not a single one is open.
I've used this test to see if they were open: [URL]
And almost none of them were. Is there any issue that could be causing this?
Also when I try to open a single port the site says it times out. Opening single ports didn't work either. I've also tried to DMZ via the IP and the MAC address of my PC and still no luck.
Linksys Wired Router :: RV082 Slowing Down Internet Connection
Jul 14, 2011I have a RV082 Linksys router and at the moment it is slowing down my internet connection by a significant amount. With the router, I get about 3 Mbps and with a modem directly connected to my computer I get about 24 Mbps. Before with the router I used to get 15 Mbps, which is understandable because it is connected to 4 computers total. Maybe my setup has something to do with it. I got a cable that is connected to a modem, the modem is connected to the router, from which one port is connected to a computer, and another is used to connect to a Netgear switch, which in turn is connected to 3 more computers.
Everything was fine until I went on a trip and wasn't home for about 2 weeks, and when I came back, this happened. I tried restarting the modem, the router and all to no avail. I also tried to do a factory reset on the router and again got slow speeds.

Feb 8, 2011I am setting up One-To-One NAT to redirect traffic from the internet. We have 5 static public IP addresses, and I set up One-To-One Nat to redirect to local Win servers. One of the servers running Web server and FTP server. For some reason redirection works fine for the Web server, but does not work for FTP server when I try to access them from the internet. FTP server works locally, but my FTP client cannot connect from the Internet. I opened the ports in the firewall, and these ports show as opened when I test them from external servers. What am I missing?

Jul 30, 2011I have a BEFSX41 connected to a Motorola SB6120. I changed my plan for a hgih speed, but did not see it.Had a tech out and we found when direct connected to my computer, I get 50 Mbps. When connected through the router, about 9 Mbps. I swapped cables, but still the same.
Is there any way to determine the connection speed on the Internet port? It seems that it only running at 10, when both the router and modem support 100.

But when my newest Dlink router failed for the 3rd time I decided it was time to find a better make. The Linksys E2500 came highly recommended. The trouble I am having is that I've been using an old DLink DI-604 wired router as a hub to get 3 extra wired ports. But with the linksys router I can't get this to work.. Can this be done with this router and if so, how do I have to setup the routers?

Apr 21, 2012I saw one post recommending to changing the MTU from 1500 to 1400. That did absolutely nothing. My comcast internet is now slower than 14.4 dial up modem I had 16 years ago. The strange thing is I can sometimes download at over 2 mbps with torrents. It's mainly loading websites where the speed is so bad.

Apr 11, 2012I have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.

Mar 23, 2011I am trying to open up certain ports to host multiplayer games on the internet on my computer and on Xbox 360.The only internet service provider is primecast. I am able to open the ports on my router but the ports still show closed using portforward.com portchecker. I disabled all firewalls and Anti-Virus, no luck. I even connected my computer directly to the modem, the ports are still closed. The Router is a Linksys WRT400N set to single band. The modem is an Alcatel although there is no model number (it has a fiber optic connection, coax connection and 2 ethernet port connections). The condo is cat 5 ready so the router has multiple ethernet cables which go to the ethernet wall plugs throughout the apartment which is how I connect to my desktop.
FYI:One of the games I am trying to play online IL2 1946, people simply cannot connect.In another game Company of Heroes, people cannot connect and I cannot connect to most games it says there is a NAT issue when connecting.
PS When I go into ipconfig I now see IPv4 and IPv6, I don't know if that has something to do with it but to my knowledge these sections were not here previously (before I moved).

Open Some Ports On A Linksys E1000?
Feb 7, 2011I am trying to Open some ports on a Linksys E1000. When I run the Shield Up test to see the status of my ports the ones I want to open are closed which is normal but when i try to portforward any port the status goes from closed to stealth. That really does not make any sense to me why when trying to open a port it becomes even more secure then if I did not try to open it. I turned off the firewall and the only thing I see might be the wireless security on the router. I have no idea what that means tho so idk if it is even a firewall.

I was going to upgrade the firmware from version 2.44.2 to the one on the site 2.45.10 but when it is downloading I get a message at the end upgrade file pattern error. There is a problem with the router that the ports go out or will the firmware update hopefully correct that issue and how to I get the firmware to update
