View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFSR41v3 and am trying to enable UPnP on the router. However, after I activate UPnP in my browser and the webpage reloads (after the common status screen that says you have to wait 5 seconds and you will be redirected). I am prompted for a password. But for some reason, it will not accept any password that I enter. In order to even get to the settings to UPnP in the first place, you must enter the correct password to access the settings. So I believe I am using the correct password, so why is it not accepting the correct password? I have had to reset my router to factory default settings (by pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds) multiple times because of this. But each time after enabling UPnP it will not accept the default password of admin nor will it accept any password that I assign it afterwards. I have noticed however that the "Filter Internal NAT Redirection" which should be set to enabled by default has been set to disabled even after I have reset the router. I have activated UPnP on the router before without trouble but have had to reset the router to factory default settings afterwards because of other reasons.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
We have a main and branch office, each with an RVL200 . I configured both with static IP's as provided by my ISP, yet when I try to do a test connection on the IPSec screen I just get that it's "waiting for a connection" in the cell third from the left. Both RVL200 's are connected directly to the modem/bridge supplied by both ISP's.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a strong internet signal with good SNR coming out of my cable modem, then a nice short 3ft cable going to my linksys VOIP router (I think it's a SPA 2102). Whether I have anything downstream plugged in or not, the "phone" light on the VOIP router goes off every once in a while and when I check I find that I've lost both dial tone and Internet - basically everything downstream of the VOIP router. Have tried every variation on configuration you can imagine (feeding just one phone, feeding the entire phone wiring to the house, nothing at all plugged into the phone jack, no computers downstream plugged in, replaced all the cables, ...). I've replaced BOTH the cable modem and the linksys VOIP router and the problem continues. My cable company says my signal is fine. They suggested a signal amplifier but the coax comes straight to the modem, no splitter, and I'm always seeing 6-7dBmV. My phone company says their router must be losing signal upstream and refusing to reconnect, especially now that we've tried replacing their VOIP router with no change. Any chance I got two 'bad' routers in a row? Not sure what they did for setup parameters. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but have read a lot since seeing these issues, have run my own ping and tracert checks and everything seems to be wonderful... but then most of the time everything IS fine. When I have phone it's crystal clear and when I have internet it's nice and fast. I sometimes go 24hrs or so without a drop, but other times I'm resetting 2-3x in a couple of hours. All I do is power off the VOIP router and back on and everything is fine, for a while. After first getting VOIP things were fine for 4-6 weeks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a number of months now, our Internet connection in an office of 5 computers, 2 Macs, 3 windows boxes (1 as dell laptop) has experienced the connection of the Internet dropping off.The timing of the 'drops' is usually in the morning, when the Dell Inspiron M510 either boots up or wakes from sleep. Typically the solution is to turn off the modem, the router and switch, wait a few minutes, then turn the switch, the router, then the modem back on. Our connection via the modem is through AT&T, via a non-static IP addy. Our router is a BEFSR41, v4, with firmware up to date (circa 2006) It's becoming a daily chore now, just about, and is getting to be a bit of a headache on some days.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm capped out at 12 mbps service through Mediacom. My PC is directly wired to the WRT120N. I consistently test in the 11 mbps range.
I have a very unusual issue though.
I can connect my iphone and Xbox wirelessly through my router with no issues on their side. However, any time I do so, it kills my wired connection on my PC. I'm not doing huge downloads or P2P or anything like that. In fact, the speed drops immediately on my PC the moment I connect my phone to the wireless network regardless of what i'm doing on the phone (checking email or loading a webpage).
I just configured a RV016 and it's ignoring my VPN connections and its routes. When I run a tracert to my other site it returns all the hops between they.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an E1200 acting soley as an AP. Everything works just fine, but when I try to copy files from one wired computer(both Windows 7) to another one on the same router(the E1200 in this case), the network utilization is only about 4%. If I take one of the computers off its wired connection and make it wireless, the utilization goes up to about 50%. Also if I take one of the compuyters off this router, and make a wired connection to my main router(which is connected via a wired connection to the E1200), the network utilization goes up to 50%.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E1550 Wireless Router that is fast as can be on the wired connection, getting 30mbs from the cable modem connection. If I switch to using wireless on the same PC, the max connection speed I'll get is 2mbs. I've changed all sorts of settings trying to get this working right, and it still stays at 2mbs.As an additional note, this router was previously working fine at 30mbs on wireless as well, then out of nowhere this weekend, it started running at 2mbs. I went and purchased another of the same model and it is doing the same thing as well.
What is the secret to having this run at it's correct speed, not this slow 2mbs that it is now? I have configured this the same as every other Linksys router I've had in the past, and it is running horribly slow..I'm on the newest firmware as well, have already verified that. The old router was updated to newest firmware as testing to resolve this, and the new router came with it installed already.
I have a RV082 Linksys router and at the moment it is slowing down my internet connection by a significant amount. With the router, I get about 3 Mbps and with a modem directly connected to my computer I get about 24 Mbps. Before with the router I used to get 15 Mbps, which is understandable because it is connected to 4 computers total. Maybe my setup has something to do with it. I got a cable that is connected to a modem, the modem is connected to the router, from which one port is connected to a computer, and another is used to connect to a Netgear switch, which in turn is connected to 3 more computers.
Everything was fine until I went on a trip and wasn't home for about 2 weeks, and when I came back, this happened. I tried restarting the modem, the router and all to no avail. I also tried to do a factory reset on the router and again got slow speeds.
have a HP 6500a All In One Printer in the network with a BERSR41 V3 router. I am using a Imac with this sytem for printing and scanning. For some reason I keep loosing the printer when I try to scan? I have it set to a static IP, and can not ping it, but can access the printer throught the network with the HP Utility. Am I missing something in setup on the router that causes it to keep loosing connection?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT54G router for years and use it to provide both a wireless network for our home computers and a wired network for by internet phone that connects me to my office phone system and for my work computer and printer. Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Cisco EPC3825 cable modem for my home network, and wondered a thing, that if I set up modem to work in router-mode, my real connection speed slows down to around 5-7Mt/s, when using modem in bridged mode, my connection speed is close to 15-20Mt/s. My serviceprovider provides 200/10M speed to my modem, and they've checked, that modem is working with 204/10M speed, and computers works also, if using modem in bridged-mode.
View 1 Replies View Related I lost all Internet connnecitivity on my Linksys e3000. After determining that my cable modem was connected and working correctly, I pulled the e3000 and put my old wrv54g router in place. Wireless worked, but all wired connections showed link but no other apparent connectivity. Neither of my desktops could get a DHCP lease.
At that point, I purchased and manually installed a new e4200 router. All worked fine. Both laptops connected via wireless and both desktops via my house LAN. Until this morning (Monday). Wireless is working just fine, but both wired computers show 100 Mbs connections on an unknown network with no DHCP. Checking status shows packets going out, but nothing coming in. Checking LAN status on the router shows that both ports are connected, but it does not appear to receive anything from either desktop. All was fine last night. Oh, the router is on 1.0.03 firmware.
I have tried about everything I can think of. Configurations both on the router and the desktops (one Windows XP, 64 bit and one Windows 7) and all seems fine. I have disabled and reenabled the network connectors, rebooted both the router and the computers, etc. Nothing seems to work.
I have a problem with my new router. I connected't my iMac (27" 2010) and NAS Synology 1511. My problem is the slow connection between mac and router - only 100Mbit (ethernet port on mac is 1Gbit), strange thing... my NAS have 1Gbit with no problem, and the mac is not. I trying manual configure - forcing speed to 1Gbit, but then is no connection at all. I'm also trying changing wires, but no change. Im buying special ethernet cable cat 6 - also no change. Changing ports on router - result the same.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just had Comcast setup my internet and it is really fast. 30 down, 10 up, 40 ping, my connection to my computer (wireless) is very fast and my online gaming (wired) is not laggy at all.The problem lies with the connection dropping when I am online gaming. I connected directly to the modem and there's no problem at all. I connect to my Linksys EA3500 and once I start playing in an online game, I disconnect from Xbox Live and am dropped from the game... anywhere from right away until about 10-15 minutes into the game. This is the only time where my connection falters at all, otherwise it is great. But I play online a lot, and competitively, so I obviously need a stable connection.I have not had this issue with my previous ISP in New York, Time Warner and that connection was much worse. I'm thinking it must be a setting on the router that is causing this, but I can't pinpoint what. I tried automatic AND static connections from my xbox to the router. On the static connection, I even put a DMZ on it, but to no avail.

Users have to wait something like a 30 sec for a website..I descovered that the reason for slow internet connection is DENY rule. After disbling DENY rule everything works fine..Now I have a few rules added to firewall:
Priority:1 Action: Deny Service: HTTP(80) Source interface: LAN Source:10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: Any
Priority:2 Action: Allow Service: HTTPS(443) Source interface: LAN Source: 10.82.0.51-10.82.0.245 Destination: 80.64.59.42
What's wrong with those firewall settings?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday. Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues. Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected. When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms. They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's. I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference. I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support. We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.

I have an e2000 wireless router and have several devices connected by ethernet cable including private data on an external hard drive. I am planning to allow a tenant in another building connect via an ethernet cable connected to my router. Can I limit that computer (tenant's computer) from accessing all other devices connected by ethernet cable to my router? I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.

All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured. I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP.
