Linksys Wireless Adapters :: AE3000 Can't Find Network?
Jan 29, 2013My adapter AE 3000 can't find my wireless network. Other adapters can.
View 1 RepliesMy adapter AE 3000 can't find my wireless network. Other adapters can.
View 1 RepliesI just purchased 2 AE3000 adapters to update my wireless network and cannot get either of them to connect to my wireless network through either of two computers I tried. It hangs for a while looking for address and then I get the 'limited or no connection' note. But yet when I plug in my old AE1000 adapter into either computer I get connected right away. I've looked under the device manager and it shows up there, the LED lights come on and I see my wireless network show up on available networks. I am using the windows wireless manager in lieu of the Linksys one and as such I don't think any specific drivers are being used. I bought two updated adapters to start with is to keep current and NOT have problems.

I recently purchased a Linksys AE3000 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter as an upgrade to my Dell Desktop Computer and to compliment the Linksys EA4500 Router that I recently installed. Generally it seems to work well and the 2.4 GHz network status typically shows speed to be 450 Mbps. However, I’ve discovered if the computer goes to sleep based on my power plan, when it comes out of sleep the “Available Networks” will show the network I’m connected to (2.4 GHz network) and a false network identified as “Other Network” with a Red “X” where signal strength would normally be. When I mouse over it; it shows Network Name: Other Network; Signal Strength: Excellent; Security Type: Unsecured; Radio Type: Unknown; and SSID: Other Network.
Initially I thought this was an anomaly caused by having both bands of the Router (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) set to the same SSID, so I changed the 5.0 GHz band to a different SSID and set my Media Players to access the new SSID. However, now when the computer comes out of sleep mode, Available Networks will initially only show the Router’s 2.4 GHz SSID and the phantom “Other Network”. It takes a while before the Router’s 5.0 GHz SSID shows up. We live in the country, so there are no other networks close to us, just my home network. It never shows the “Other Network” when I start or restart the computer and if I disable the adapter and then enable it, the phantom network goes away until the computer goes into and out of sleep mode again. Also, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Driver and then reinstalled the Adapter using the Cisco Connect Software and the problem still exists. Finally, I disabled the Router’s 5.0 GHz network and the phantom network no longer appears under any conditions. The Dell (Atheros Communications) Wireless Card in the computer doesn’t have this issue under any scenario. On both the AE3000 and Atheros Adapters the 2.4 GHz network shows a signal strength of Excellent (5 out of 5 bars) and the 5 GHz network shows Good (3 out of 5 bars).
How to correct this issue? With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.
I picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though. This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a the AE3000 wireless adapter because I got a new DPC3925 modem/router and its signal is really weak. When I play games, it lags/disconnects for a second or two then resumes. Plus it also screws up my wireless mouse at times. I changed my wireless adapter back to my old high gain G adapter and everything seems fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI keep on getting this error from my adapter I am trying to install. Here is what I copied.
Error description: Invalid key Manual
Model name: AE3000
Operating system: Windows 7 SP 1
Software version: 1.0.0.3
The password I had from my connection is correct. I checked it about 3 times, and it keeps on saying it is wrong? Does this mean I have to reset my router?
Recently upgraded home router to Linksys EA3500 and a AE3000 Adapter for my laptop. Laptop is Dell Inspiron 1705 (yeah, it's old) running XP SP3. the adapter's drivers installed properly from the supplied CD as it negotiates and connects with the new router. However, there is NO Linksys Wireless Manager. It appears it was not installed at all. I can find no folder in Program Files named either Cisco or Linksys nor anything new in the Programs list. Is there a Linksys Wireless Manager included on the CD that should have installed?
Can I download it separately and install?I've disabled the built-in Dell wi-fi radio with came with an Intel ProSet wireless manager. Would REALLY like to have a new wireless manager that works well with the new adapter. Am going on vacation tomorrow and will have to deal with new and different access points, hotels, etc.
I have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?
View 6 Replies View Relatedjust got my AE3000 today. It's working fine. The box says "2 GHz or 5 GHz" but there are no instructions on how to select one or the other. I don't even know which it is using. How do I set this? I'd like to make sure it's on the 5 GHz band.

I have a E2500 router and just got this AE3000 adapter. Thought that would bump up the wireless signal for using my laptop at the other end of the house about 75 feet from the router. The new E2500 Wireless N has been a big improvement. The AE3000 installed perfectly and shows up as working properly. It's just that the signal strength on my laptop shows 2 bars and the signal strength for the adapter shows 2 bars.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI purchased the AE3000 Wireless Adapter for my PC, and has been working fine until now. When I first start my PC, my ping starts anywhere between 20-80, then after I try to access anything on the internet it shoots up between 600-1200. It just started happening about 3 days ago, but now it has gotten worse. I can't play any online games, and websites are slow to load.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having major issues with my wireless on this computer (randomly decides not to work while computers in the same room are fine) so I got a new wireless card to see what it could do. Installed it, everything says it's installed fine, but it will NOT detect any wireless networks. Not just mine, any of the 8+ networks I can usually detect from my room. I'm on Win7 Professional 64.
Things I've tried (and I'll be seriously annoyed if people reccomend doing them a 14th time, as I've already spent an hour on livechat with a support person telling me to do things I told her I'd already done):
Installed with 4 different drivers (the ones on the CD, the ones on the website, two versions directly from Ralink for the chipset) Tried both the manual and automatic "update driver" options in device manager. Uninstalled/reinstalled it like 4 times. Moved it to a new PCI slot.
Removed the old adapter before installing it. Removed the old adapter after installing it. Tried connecting to my network as a "hidden" network (which it's not). Installed only the driver and not the adapter utility, and used the utility. Installed the software before physically installing the adapter. Installed it after physically installing the adapter.
I'm at a loss. It doesn't detect ANY networks. No, it's not a problem with my network, there's more than a half dozen that my other adapter, in the same computer, can detect. And I don't know why. It has not ever worked properly. The antennae are on properly, nothing is interfering with it (though that would be odd since it's 3 inches from an adapter that can detect other networks). I might be willing to accept that it's just DoA, but that would be odd considering it installs just fine and reports that it's working just fine.
So I recently took the WMP54GS ver 1.1 wireless adapter out of my old XP computer and put it in my new Vista 64bit computer. I successfully installed the adapter, downloaded the drivers (WMP54GS-v1.1_v4.102.15.53_Vista_dr), and unzipped them on my C drive to their Linksys Driver folder. When I go to find available networks it says "Windows cannot find any additional networks," and when I try to set up a wireless network it shows a blank window and says "an unexpected error has occurred." I can see the adapter in the device manager, so it obviously installed correctly.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased two WUSB600N V2 wireless adapters recently and have had nothing but problems on an otherwise stable network where I have iPads, iPhones, Netbooks, media centres, wireless printers, Notebooks and other USB PC-based network devices working without problems.
The WUSB600Ns are connected to desktop PCs, running WIndows XP SP3. I have removed the Linksys Network Management software and use Microsoft's wireless network management software. I am running the latest drivers 1.4.10.0 for the cards. My WAP is a Belkin F5D-8236-4 running in WAP only mode. It is set to 40Mhz Channel 11 primary, Channel 7 secondary. Protected Mode is off, Broadcast SSID is on. I run WPA2-PSK AES for encryption. Note: I've tried all combinations of bandwidth and channel settings. I've run Netstumbler to find clear air channels - 11 seems best.
The issues are:
* seldomly connects at boot automatically without intervention.
* occasionally does not find WAP to connect to.
* sometimes will not connect to WAP - sits at "Acquiring Network Address".
* sometimes will not even get to Acquiring Network Address.
* Will often, once connected, after a while lose connection - the timeframe is inconsistent.
All of my other devices do not have these issues. I've been working on this issue for about a week trying to stabilise, even get a consistent failure pattern, but I'm about to send them both back. These are close to the most frustrating devices I've configured and I've got a lot of stuff on my network.
I just installed a new router E3200.... now to install compatible USB adapter (AE2500)..... problems. The error is that the Cisco Connect software cannot find the USB adapter when I plug the AE2500 into any of the USB ports. The target machine is a lenovo T61 with XP installed.I have successfully installed the AE2500 on an older machine lenovo R52 with XP , no problems, so not the adapter.
I downloaded more recent version of Cisco Connect v 1.0.03, still no luck on T61.I also disabled firewall and virus protection, that did not work. Other possibilities I can try? I got the AE2500 for the T61, would like to get there.
I cant find the WUSB600n ver.2 drivers on your support page: url...When I click "Version 1.0" it shows me the Win7 driver but by clicking "Version 2.0" it just says: "Guides and Information" but theres no drivers. I suppose it's a bug.I have a new Laptop so I need the Win7 64bit driver for ver.2.

I had to move my desktop computer to a different room with no ethernet connection so I purchased a Linksys AE2500 usb wireless adapter for it. My router/modem is a Actiontec 2000 which came with my internet. When I have my desktop on and connected to the internet it slows down all the computers on the network and it is really slow. View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently moved to a building that does not have wired Internet access. Upon the recommendation I purchased a Linksys AEE 2500 USB wireless adapter. I am unable to install the software which means, of course, I am unable to access any of the settings. The setup initializes, shows me the wireless network available (it has a locked padlock symbol next to a), and prompts me for the encryption key. It accepts the key and it's at this point the setup stalls. It shows the "attempting to connect to network" screen then, after whatever interval the software is set for before it times out, I get a notification that setup was unable to access the network. The generic Windows drivers access the network just fine although I only get two bars and a fair connection.I do have Internet connection through the windows drivers but it is slow and watching streaming video from Netflix is next to impossible.Long story short
View 4 Replies View RelatedHave an old laptop running XPSP2 with a WPC54G V1.2 card that I use for email when traveling. Had no problems accessing my old home network that ran off of a WRT54G V 5.0 wireless router, nor with any of the "motel wireless networks" when I travel. I changed ISPs and now have an Actiontec PK5000 wireless router.
When I attempt to connect I get an error message "unable to acquire network address."
This new router has the following 64 bit and 128 bit settings
wpa-wpa2 personal
wpa personal
wpa2 personal
wep
security off
Using any of the security settings I get the error. Turning off security allows me to connect fine.
I realize this is a pretty old wireless card so is it possible it doesn't work with the current encryption standards but I would have thought that wep would have worked. The driver for the card is V3.3.15.0 which is also old. Would updating the driver work and if so what driver? If a new card is the only way any recommendations for an inexpensive card?
I am trying to connect to the internet a second, older tower using the WUSB600N ver 2 adapter, the unfortunate part is that I have lost my CD's that originally came with the adapter. I am on my primary machine right now so I am able to get online. I am wondering if there is a way that I can get the proper drivers or software, put them on a USB drive and then put them on the computer that I am trying to connect?I have already tried this, but I cannot seem to get the steps right or I don't necessarily know what I am doing. I am at the Linksys support Page [URL] and I have tried to do as I mentioned before, but I am sort of just expecting it to GO and its not working. The computer i would like to make the WUSB600N adapter for is running windows XP pro Service Pack 3?
