Just bought this Linksys AE3000 Wireless Adapter. I followed the directions, run Setup on DVD....then plug unit it.Adapter NOT Found!Unit Blinks Blue light every 8 seconds..
Note, that when first plugged in.......Device driver auto downloaded...and said ready for use. I gather through Windows 7
Recently upgraded home router to Linksys EA3500 and a AE3000 Adapter for my laptop. Laptop is Dell Inspiron 1705 (yeah, it's old) running XP SP3. the adapter's drivers installed properly from the supplied CD as it negotiates and connects with the new router. However, there is NO Linksys Wireless Manager. It appears it was not installed at all. I can find no folder in Program Files named either Cisco or Linksys nor anything new in the Programs list. Is there a Linksys Wireless Manager included on the CD that should have installed?
Can I download it separately and install?I've disabled the built-in Dell wi-fi radio with came with an Intel ProSet wireless manager. Would REALLY like to have a new wireless manager that works well with the new adapter. Am going on vacation tomorrow and will have to deal with new and different access points, hotels, etc.
I picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though.This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

When I play games, it lags/disconnects for a second or two then resumes. Plus it also screws up my wireless mouse at times. I changed my wireless adapter back to my old high gain G adapter and everything seems fine.

The password I had from my connection is correct. I checked it about 3 times, and it keeps on saying it is wrong? Does this mean I have to reset my router?
I have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased 2 AE3000 adapters to update my wireless network and cannot get either of them to connect to my wireless network through either of two computers I tried. It hangs for a while looking for address and then I get the 'limited or no connection' note. But yet when I plug in my old AE1000 adapter into either computer I get connected right away. I've looked under the device manager and it shows up there, the LED lights come on and I see my wireless network show up on available networks. I am using the windows wireless manager in lieu of the Linksys one and as such I don't think any specific drivers are being used. I bought two updated adapters to start with is to keep current and NOT have problems.

I have a E2500 router and just got this AE3000 adapter. Thought that would bump up the wireless signal for using my laptop at the other end of the house about 75 feet from the router. The new E2500 Wireless N has been a big improvement. The AE3000 installed perfectly and shows up as working properly. It's just that the signal strength on my laptop shows 2 bars and the signal strength for the adapter shows 2 bars.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Linksys AE3000 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter as an upgrade to my Dell Desktop Computer and to compliment the Linksys EA4500 Router that I recently installed. Generally it seems to work well and the 2.4 GHz network status typically shows speed to be 450 Mbps. However, I’ve discovered if the computer goes to sleep based on my power plan, when it comes out of sleep the “Available Networks” will show the network I’m connected to (2.4 GHz network) and a false network identified as “Other Network” with a Red “X” where signal strength would normally be. When I mouse over it; it shows Network Name: Other Network; Signal Strength: Excellent; Security Type: Unsecured; Radio Type: Unknown; and SSID: Other Network.
Initially I thought this was an anomaly caused by having both bands of the Router (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) set to the same SSID, so I changed the 5.0 GHz band to a different SSID and set my Media Players to access the new SSID. However, now when the computer comes out of sleep mode, Available Networks will initially only show the Router’s 2.4 GHz SSID and the phantom “Other Network”. It takes a while before the Router’s 5.0 GHz SSID shows up. We live in the country, so there are no other networks close to us, just my home network. It never shows the “Other Network” when I start or restart the computer and if I disable the adapter and then enable it, the phantom network goes away until the computer goes into and out of sleep mode again. Also, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Driver and then reinstalled the Adapter using the Cisco Connect Software and the problem still exists. Finally, I disabled the Router’s 5.0 GHz network and the phantom network no longer appears under any conditions. The Dell (Atheros Communications) Wireless Card in the computer doesn’t have this issue under any scenario. On both the AE3000 and Atheros Adapters the 2.4 GHz network shows a signal strength of Excellent (5 out of 5 bars) and the 5 GHz network shows Good (3 out of 5 bars).
How to correct this issue? With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.
I purchased the AE3000 Wireless Adapter for my PC, and has been working fine until now. When I first start my PC, my ping starts anywhere between 20-80, then after I try to access anything on the internet it shoots up between 600-1200. It just started happening about 3 days ago, but now it has gotten worse. I can't play any online games, and websites are slow to load.

I read the forums and have been googling all morning and I found one topic that said that version 3 (Vista compatible) WPC54G_V31_driver_4.100.15.5_vista.exe..will work with ver 4. I have tried it and my adapter will still not see the files in the extracted folder. There's 5 files in the folder and when I do the hardware/update driver method it won't see the drivers. I have tried all the other version and none will load??
How can I get this driver to work with my Windows XP? I don't have the CD anymore.
I have had an issue with my AE2500 wireless adapter. I am using a LInksys E2500 dual band router but my samsung laptop's wireless adapter doesn't support 5ghz band, so bought the AE2500.I disabled the internal adapter and got the AE2500 connected up. I've set up the 5ghz channel with wireless N, and left 2.5ghz as it was. Somehow I am now experiencing slower speeds on both bands, when using speedtest.net's speed test. It's the 2nd time in my life I am having an issue like this, where I am adding something with capacity for more speed but end up things being worse. Previous was with a netgear adapter and router a few years ago. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I honestly don't think so.Also best sequence to get the new adapter connected? Should I do it before I disable the existing adapter?

So long ago i bought a Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G Notebook Adapter WPC54G v.1.2 but didn't have time to set it up or use it for travelling conditions. A couple years later when i came back to check on the laptop, i noticed that i lost the setup CD. So i went on the Linksys website and looked for the driver the download. On the back of the Adapter(card) it says it is version 1.2. But this version is unavailable on the Linksys Website. I could only find v.1, 2,3,3.1 and 7. v.1 gives a driver of v3.1 etc... AND NOT VICE-VERSA.So first when i inserted the card into the slot , the PC didnt detect it. It only detected it rarely if i insert another driver (eg: USB..). And so a window would pop up to install but i didnt know what to do there. When i downloaded the v.1 driver from the website and installed it, it seemed not the detect the card either, it would just say searching for wireless, but that's it. It would keep searching for hours even when im next to the router.finally, only the Power led light on the card is lit up but not the "Link" led.

When I connect the adapter, after a while, the 3g modem disconnects and turns red, and the modem connection software says it cant find the usb 3g device. Due to a petty argument with his girlfriend..I overheard her and her friend and discovered that she had logged into the Uverse router/modem (192.168.1.254), which shows all devices that are connected. On this page it has links to access files for each device. Clicking on that, she was able to read all my files. Nothing to hide, I just don't like snoopers and even wonder if she could change settings or do something to mess up my computer. I cannot figure out how to block access by her Uverse thru my Linksys wireless adapter.
I normally do not allow any sort of file sharing and everywhere I have looked on my PC, nothing is enabled to file share or remote desktop share or anything like that. I'm not a total noob but have no clue if and how I can change this on my end so that she cannot get into my PC while I'm connected to their internet. Their router/modem is a 3800HGV-B.
there could be complications, but it appears the WPM300N is 'bad'?my wife's computer (XP SP3) recently started freezing at random times. Once while surfing she got a BSOD. The last few days it had gotten much worse, sometimes the freeze occuring during the boot process, and again at random points.
What I tried was determing all new s/w installs and deleting them still didn't fix the problem. Next I used some Norton Ghost back-ups restoration from the time period she had the freezes... still was freezing. Next an image from long ago and it still froze. Got me thinking it was h/w related. She has a wireless mouse and keyboard. Put in wired units, still froze.
A few days ago my router died. It couldn't get a WAN IP Address from the ISP's cable modem. ISP verified the modem was working by having me attach directly to it one of my wired computers. This router was a new (2 months old) ASUS RT-N56U. I put back my old LinkSys WRT600N. In doing so I had to change the passphrase. This turned out to be a big assist to me determining what went wrong.
On each of the restores of an image, the system never froze, not until I connected to the router by giving the proper passphrase, but usually after that. When it happened (I did multiple image restores) when I was in Safe Mode with Network as it was connecting, the implication was clear it was the WMP300N.
As luck would have it, I had another card taken out of my old computer. Put that card in and so far, he computer has NOT frozen up. I've restored all the deleted items and Windows Updates and all other Updates (Norton ISS, Flash, Adobe) and it is running fine.
So I just got hooked up to the internet via qwest the other day with my room mate. We have a wireless modem (PK5000) and he's using the AE2500 usb adapter to get online. Now, he can get online, but if he ever turns off or sleeps his computer, he can't connect when he turns it back on. His computer can see the network, full signal, but when he tries to connect it says cannot connect and under troubleshoot options suggests we should move his computer closer to the modem, but its only about 20 feet away and shows full signal. To get it to work, we need to go into the modem config and reset the wireless options. No changes are made, just scroll to the bottom and click apply, and presto change he can connect with no problems.He's running windows 7 home edition 64 bit. The modem's security is WPA/WPA2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having major issues with my wireless on this computer (randomly decides not to work while computers in the same room are fine) so I got a new wireless card to see what it could do. Installed it, everything says it's installed fine, but it will NOT detect any wireless networks. Not just mine, any of the 8+ networks I can usually detect from my room. I'm on Win7 Professional 64.
Things I've tried (and I'll be seriously annoyed if people reccomend doing them a 14th time, as I've already spent an hour on livechat with a support person telling me to do things I told her I'd already done):
Installed with 4 different drivers (the ones on the CD, the ones on the website, two versions directly from Ralink for the chipset) Tried both the manual and automatic "update driver" options in device manager. Uninstalled/reinstalled it like 4 times. Moved it to a new PCI slot.
Removed the old adapter before installing it. Removed the old adapter after installing it. Tried connecting to my network as a "hidden" network (which it's not). Installed only the driver and not the adapter utility, and used the utility. Installed the software before physically installing the adapter. Installed it after physically installing the adapter.
I'm at a loss. It doesn't detect ANY networks. No, it's not a problem with my network, there's more than a half dozen that my other adapter, in the same computer, can detect. And I don't know why. It has not ever worked properly. The antennae are on properly, nothing is interfering with it (though that would be odd since it's 3 inches from an adapter that can detect other networks). I might be willing to accept that it's just DoA, but that would be odd considering it installs just fine and reports that it's working just fine.
I have a desktop PC with no wifi card that I want to use with a Clear Wifi hotspot. I have a WGA54AG Linksys Gaming Adapter and I want to use this with the desktop to access the wifi. I do not know how to reconfigure the gaming adapter for the CLear hotspot's security protocols.

Instead of using the router, I want the AE-2500 to access my HotSpot wifi on my cell phone. I go through the AE2500 installation and Device Manager shows it is installed properly. However, I do not see the adapter in my list of available wireless connections and I'm unabley to disconnect my router connection. I keep clicking disconnect but it never does.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently acquired a WMP600N-EU that is running under W7 x64 with the latest Linksys available drivers for download, which unlike the default MS ones, don't enable the Virtual Wifi adapter.Now with this new adapter, the wireless icon starts with the blue circle spinning, and the at the point the other adapter was already connected, it displays the "orange sun" (not connected, connections available) and stays there dead for some 10 seconds. At this point, my router's SSID is already listed. Only after that time it will start to successfully auto-connect to the pre-configured network, whereas windows has already finished loading or the browser launched unable to check mail.This is obviously not a functional fault on the adapter. If I didn't had the previous adapter to compare, I might find it normal. Btw, I've cleaned every previously stored wireless connections.

I set up the modem through the Windows 7 computer, and it is connected to the wireless modem through the Ethernet cable. (I hope that I am saying all of this correctly.) It's running just fine.Because the other PC is not wireless, I purchased a NETGEAR wireless USB adapter, go through installation and setup, starts and finds my SSID, add WEP key, etc, etc. In the bottom corner of the software it says the signal is good. In the toolbar it says the adapter is connected to the modem.Next to it, though, the network connections icon shows:
Wireless Network Connection
Speed: 24Mbps
Signal Strength: Good
Status: Limited or no connectivity
And so, of course, I have no connection to the Internet. Using the modem through Ethernet on the XP computer (switching the situation around, in other words) is not an option; the only phone line for connecting the modem to the wall is too far away.(It was stated more than once that I should use WPA instead of WEP; I haven't made it that far yet... I'm just trying to get this other computer connected.)
I have a wifi dongle with signal enhancement on my desk top computer. I get a message that I am connected with a signal strength of 67%. However, I cannot get any website to open. The router is working for 3 other computers further away than mine. It was working but just stopped a couple of days ago. I am about 25ft away in a straight line.

I have a Thomson TG782T modem hooked to the computer by ethernet cable. The computer does not recognise the modem and the modem does not find the gateway on the computer. I have discussed the problem with Telstra and as far as they are concerned its not their problem due to the cable showing green and amber light into the back of the computer and the modem is working. The computer guys are saying that the computer is fine as they utilised the net to load the computer.
