I bought a the AE3000 wireless adapter because I got a new DPC3925 modem/router and its signal is really weak. When I play games, it lags/disconnects for a second or two then resumes. Plus it also screws up my wireless mouse at times. I changed my wireless adapter back to my old high gain G adapter and everything seems fine.
View 1 RepliesI picked up a AE3000 for an older laptop, but it will not connect to any network. It is on an older (01') dell laptop running XP SP3. I have tried using the disk and downloading the latest drivers on-line but no luck. It picks up all the networks around me and mine, but it says trying to connect and just can't. I tried it on another laptop and everything works fine. Is there an issue with this adapter and the original USB ports or XP in general? I have checked and rechecked the passcodes, I have deleted all of the profiles and started from the beginning again. I removed my anti-virus program as well as the last effort. Nothing I do seems to make a difference though.This is just used to access the internet on a laptop that is dedicated to a telescope.

Recently upgraded home router to Linksys EA3500 and a AE3000 Adapter for my laptop. Laptop is Dell Inspiron 1705 (yeah, it's old) running XP SP3. the adapter's drivers installed properly from the supplied CD as it negotiates and connects with the new router. However, there is NO Linksys Wireless Manager. It appears it was not installed at all. I can find no folder in Program Files named either Cisco or Linksys nor anything new in the Programs list. Is there a Linksys Wireless Manager included on the CD that should have installed?
Can I download it separately and install?I've disabled the built-in Dell wi-fi radio with came with an Intel ProSet wireless manager. Would REALLY like to have a new wireless manager that works well with the new adapter. Am going on vacation tomorrow and will have to deal with new and different access points, hotels, etc.
I have an AE3000 dual band wireless adapter using the Win 7 Pro OS. At work our routers all use the same SSID, but utilize different channels. In terms of signal strength, the strongest signal is usually, but not always, one of the channels on the 2.4GHZ band (usually 11). However, in terms of speed of connection and lack of overcrowding, the best signal is invariably one the channels on the 5GHZ band (usually 161). My AE3000 will inevitably connect to the strongest signal (channel 11) even though it only slightly stronger than the signal on channel 161 and furnishes a much slower connection than that obtainable on channel 161. Is there any way I can "force" the AE3000 to connect via channel 161 rather than channel 11?

I just purchased 2 AE3000 adapters to update my wireless network and cannot get either of them to connect to my wireless network through either of two computers I tried. It hangs for a while looking for address and then I get the 'limited or no connection' note. But yet when I plug in my old AE1000 adapter into either computer I get connected right away. I've looked under the device manager and it shows up there, the LED lights come on and I see my wireless network show up on available networks. I am using the windows wireless manager in lieu of the Linksys one and as such I don't think any specific drivers are being used. I bought two updated adapters to start with is to keep current and NOT have problems.

I have a E2500 router and just got this AE3000 adapter. Thought that would bump up the wireless signal for using my laptop at the other end of the house about 75 feet from the router. The new E2500 Wireless N has been a big improvement. The AE3000 installed perfectly and shows up as working properly. It's just that the signal strength on my laptop shows 2 bars and the signal strength for the adapter shows 2 bars.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Linksys AE3000 Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Adapter as an upgrade to my Dell Desktop Computer and to compliment the Linksys EA4500 Router that I recently installed. Generally it seems to work well and the 2.4 GHz network status typically shows speed to be 450 Mbps. However, I’ve discovered if the computer goes to sleep based on my power plan, when it comes out of sleep the “Available Networks” will show the network I’m connected to (2.4 GHz network) and a false network identified as “Other Network” with a Red “X” where signal strength would normally be. When I mouse over it; it shows Network Name: Other Network; Signal Strength: Excellent; Security Type: Unsecured; Radio Type: Unknown; and SSID: Other Network.
Initially I thought this was an anomaly caused by having both bands of the Router (2.4 and 5.0 GHz) set to the same SSID, so I changed the 5.0 GHz band to a different SSID and set my Media Players to access the new SSID. However, now when the computer comes out of sleep mode, Available Networks will initially only show the Router’s 2.4 GHz SSID and the phantom “Other Network”. It takes a while before the Router’s 5.0 GHz SSID shows up. We live in the country, so there are no other networks close to us, just my home network. It never shows the “Other Network” when I start or restart the computer and if I disable the adapter and then enable it, the phantom network goes away until the computer goes into and out of sleep mode again. Also, I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Driver and then reinstalled the Adapter using the Cisco Connect Software and the problem still exists. Finally, I disabled the Router’s 5.0 GHz network and the phantom network no longer appears under any conditions. The Dell (Atheros Communications) Wireless Card in the computer doesn’t have this issue under any scenario. On both the AE3000 and Atheros Adapters the 2.4 GHz network shows a signal strength of Excellent (5 out of 5 bars) and the 5 GHz network shows Good (3 out of 5 bars).
How to correct this issue? With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.
I purchased the AE3000 Wireless Adapter for my PC, and has been working fine until now. When I first start my PC, my ping starts anywhere between 20-80, then after I try to access anything on the internet it shoots up between 600-1200. It just started happening about 3 days ago, but now it has gotten worse. I can't play any online games, and websites are slow to load.

I had drivers version 3.0.1.0 installed and upgraded to version 3.0.10.0. After upgrading the problem got so so bad that I can't play online games at all. I tried rolling back drivers to 3.0.1.0 but it won't go back. I already tried reinstalling the drivers a few times and even reinstalled windows.

I turned the computer on and a had small lags every 5th second or so which, even though they are small, are pretty annoying. I then tried to look for a reason as to why this happens and what i found out was that if a turn off the wireless internet connection the lag spikes stops and if I turn it on they occour.

I'm experiencing problems with the wireless adapter WMP600n. I'm a pc gamer, and as I play I get lag spikes with a ping up to 1000+! Also when I browse the internet, its insanely slow, or sometimes doesn't load at all. I looked for updates and manually installed them but no luck. I'm kind of mad since I spent $80 at staples for it. I'm using it with a wireless g router but I researched it before I bought it and it said it would work with wireless g, and I figured if we ever end up getting a wireless n router, I'll be prepared. Anyways, I want to enjoy my new computer but this gets me pissed.

I have a linksys router and a AE1000 adapter. When I first plugged in the adapter I had internet problems, always had to reconnect it. Then suddenly it worked flawlessly online and in video games. Now youtube videos load slower and I will get random lag spikes in game that last 5-7 seconds. I have done nothing to change the adapter, it just does this out of random.

There are times, however, when it will definitely disconnect without fail. Whenever I try to play any online game (ranging from browser games on Facebook to games installed on my machine like Guild Wars), it disconnects. Any time it disconnects, it's a simple matter of either unplugging or plugging it back in. However, this makes it impossible to use anything that requires a constant internet connection (such as the aforementioned online games). It also disconnects whenever I do any task that requires a lot of processing power, such as rendering a video in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Both systems are running Windows 7 but the older single core system is having issues. I noticed that I keep hearing the sound of a USB device being disconnected but wasnt sure what it was until I noticed when I try to copy large files over wireless the AE1000 disconnects from my system like I've unplugged it. I've swapped the two units and it didn't solve the problem. My newer quad core doesn't experience the issue at all. I've also tried different USB ports but that doesn't solve the issue either.

Then it loses its mind. I get a popup that says "Dial Up Connection" and wants me to choose to connect or work offline. View 3 Replies View RelatedIt has always been the case with my laptop and another usb N adapter I bought a while back but this time when i upgraded my PC and got a DWA-552 adapter and the problem occurs again I was forced to try and debug it.PingPlotter had a constant ping check on my router's network address every second, every few minutes and sometimes seconds apart there would be 100+ ping spikes which always correlate with troublesome lag spikes in-game. And that's with Roaming Policy set to very low. Once set to normal it got much worse with 500+ ping spikes, and just to cement the correlation I set the policy to very high and 1000+ ping spikes happened.Could it be that DIR655 incorrectly reports to the adapter that it is about to drop the connection forcing a roam that results in nothing but a latency hiccup? I am not well versed in wireless mechanics. These ping spikes are often accompanied with packet loss.My DIR655 has several G cards connected to it (which work fine btw, my 552 seems to work fine in G mode too though I haven't tested it extensively yet - may be forced to since dir655 appears to be bugged with N mode) and several N cards that aren't used for gaming so this issue has never been a problem before.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WRT160Nv3 router and I have been getting terrible lag spikes over the last few days, we have 10Mbps cable internet, nothing to fancy but about once every 5-10 minutes it will drop to .4-.5 Mbps for several minutes, When I make a direct connection from modem to my computer i get the full speed I should be getting of about 11Mbps. The lag persists in both direct connections and wireless.

Unfortunately, ever since my wireless network is a lot more unstable than before. I very often experience serious lag spikes and drops in speed. Very often I experience serious lag for a couple of seconds after which everything returns to normal. I notice this the most in online gaming, but it is also noticeable while browsing the web. When downloading large files (e.g. steam games), the download speed also seems to suffer from this by dropping every now and then.
There are no connection drops however. And it only seems to affect the wireless network.
I have configured the E3200 router manually using the Web UI and is has been configured exactly the same as my WRT54G: i.e. only 2.4GHz band enabled with b/g/n, WPA2 security, MAC filtering on, no throtling/parental control/port forwarding, UPnP disabled. The E3200 is in the exact same place as the the WRT54G was.
Things I have done so far for troubleshooting: I used inSSIDer to monitor the wireless network and it's signal strength seems about the same as the WRT54G. I changed channels for best signal strength (there is only one other wifi network that seems to be configured as a dual channel N network; 3 other networks with very low signal strength) and have tried every channel.
I updated the fimware to the latest version (Ver.1.0.04 (Build 1)) and did a factory reset and power cycle afterwards.
I noticed that switching channels can account for 5-10Mbps differences in internet speed. Something I never noticed with the WRT54G. The lag spikes occur more often on some channels than on others. This seems not related to the speeds I get on the channel.
I really can't imagine that a router marketed as High Peformance router with superior speed and superior range is less stable than my old WRT54G router.
Is there something I can do to improve stability of this router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI decided to change my old Belkin router to a Cisco one, and ever since i've got all sort of problems with internet connection.I'm a gamer, and my brother as well, and with the Belkin router we never got any issue, but now when we try to play together online we get serious Ping problems (We usually play at 80ms, but for a couple of seconds it reaches 800ms.. then it goes back to 80 ms).I have a 20 mb Conection with no P2P restriction, I'm using only Wireless-N connection, with only 20 Mhz and in Ch. 9 (2,452 Ghz).I also use a WPA2-Personal password and QoS System to give more priority to my PC and my games (DotA2 and WoW).This problem only happens when we try to play 2 games at the same time (e.g. DotA2 and WoW, or DotA and DotA, etc). Well i actually think Cisco might be better (Well, I payed extra money for "quality") but then again, with all those problems.

The ping get beyond 1000 - 1500 so the screen is in fact temporary freezed. Sometimes those spikes can occur with 10-15 minutes inbetween them sometimes it can be an hour or more before I notice it.I'm running Windows 7 on both my computers. I first thought it was Microsoft was to throttle the packets so I did the change in the registry. But these spikes still happen. After some testings I also notice they happen at the same time on both computers so my conclusion is that it's something with the router.

I am directly connected to my router. Lately, I have been receiving high latency spikes and total loss of internet. The problem must be related to my router, because when I connect to the internet through my modem I don't have this problem.
I bought 2 weeks ago a Linksys EA4500 after searching the best Wi-Fi Router all over the net... I choose this cos all over people writed that it was amazing, fast a nd very good coverage all over the house.
Before I had a Buffalo AirStation Dual Band, wich worked perfectly. But since I have several tv and a central NAS whit all films in MKV, I wanted the BEST product for my system, so I choosed Linksys EA4500!
Well, the result is that (when it works it is greate) but sometimes it disconnects and I have to restart it... And second thing that makes me MAD is that the coverage in my house is WORST!! Before my Wi-Fi was present in all the house, now in some parts doesn't work! The position is the exact same of the Buffalo, so it's not a problem of position... I tryed also a router of 40€ and it has a better coverage! How come? how is it possible that a person pays more than 200$ (in Italy it costs 185€) and the result is so BAD??? I'm totaly freak about Linksys now.
I'm having getting my E1200 to work is this; I'm connected wirelessly with an N-adapter to the router, my roomate is connected directly with an Ethernet cable and to the modem. Whenever he logs ons or logs off from internet I GET DISCONNECTED! Its very frustrating. At first I kept wondering why I would get frequent Disconnects, until I matched exactly the times he would log on or log off. I've never seen this type of problem before in my previous router?

This problem has started a few days ago, until then everything was fine.When the connection is gone, the "Internet" light goes off, the other lights remain on. For example, it disconnects at 07:30. It takes a minute or two to reconnect. Then it disconnects at 08:31. It reconnects, and then disconnects at 09:32.. and so on.Here are the things that I have tried (with my limited knowledge.. I'm not good with technology):- Turned the power on/off. No matter what time I do this at, the router disconnects at the same time again. For example, if it last disconnected at 07:30, and I turn it off and on at 7:50, it still disconnects at 08:31.- I tried resetting it, by pushing and holding the reset button on the back for 30-60 seconds (did it several times). Reconfigured the router (manually, not from a backup config file). Same situation as above, disconnects at the same time as always.
- I upgraded the IOS to v1.00.16, which I found here: [URL] reset and then reconfigured again. Still it didn't work.- Looked in the configuration pages for any values that resemble a 60 minute time span, and changed them. Only thing I found was the security key renewal period. Or was I sold a faulty product?
I am using a E2500 which is connected to my modem arris model tm602g/115 isp provider is cox. for some reason every1 time my lil bro turn on his ps3 and while im connected to the network it will disconnect me and also he gets disconnected and for some reason we both wont be able to connect to internet. we both are using wireless connection.
