Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP 300n Lag Spikes
Dec 10, 2012
Ever since i upgraded my os from windows xp to windows 7 i've been getting lag spikes at least once every 5 minutes. With my ping going up to 1500 easily and staying up there for about 20-30 seconds. My brother is connected to the same router as me and he isn't experiencing any issue's with his internet connection (He is also using windows 7). Is this a common error?

I just upgraded my motherboard and I'm happy that the WUSB 300N is still working. Slightly annoying issue when I wake my computer from sleep. No internet connection and when I go to adapter settings, the WUSB 300n is disabled. If I click enable, nothing happens. The adapter will immediately come back to life and connect to the router and internet if I unplug it and then plug it back in (the usb connector).I also notice that the adapter is still on when my computer is asleep, all of the lights are still on and blinking, this is not the same behavior that it had before, then it would just appear to be completely off. The motherboard is a MSI P67A-GD65 with an intel i5 2500K. There are some different C-State power settings that I'm not familiar with (previously had an AMD based mobo and processor).

I've been getting lag spikes with the WUSB600N. I am using Windows 7 64bit with service pack 1 installed. I had drivers version 3.0.1.0 installed and upgraded to version 3.0.10.0. After upgrading the problem got so so bad that I can't play online games at all. I tried rolling back drivers to 3.0.1.0 but it won't go back. I already tried reinstalling the drivers a few times and even reinstalled windows.

I bought a the AE3000 wireless adapter because I got a new DPC3925 modem/router and its signal is really weak. When I play games, it lags/disconnects for a second or two then resumes. Plus it also screws up my wireless mouse at times. I changed my wireless adapter back to my old high gain G adapter and everything seems fine.

So I just bought and recieved a new computer with the wireless WMP600N.
I turned the computer on and a had small lags every 5th second or so which, even though they are small, are pretty annoying. I then tried to look for a reason as to why this happens and what i found out was that if a turn off the wireless internet connection the lag spikes stops and if I turn it on they occour.
My computers specs are:
I7 2600k 4x 3,40ghz
Nvidia geforce GTX 570
8 gb 1600mhz RAM
WMP600N wireless-N PCI
Windows 7 64xbit

I'm experiencing problems with the wireless adapter WMP600n. I'm a pc gamer, and as I play I get lag spikes with a ping up to 1000+! Also when I browse the internet, its insanely slow, or sometimes doesn't load at all. I looked for updates and manually installed them but no luck. I'm kind of mad since I spent $80 at staples for it. I'm using it with a wireless g router but I researched it before I bought it and it said it would work with wireless g, and I figured if we ever end up getting a wireless n router, I'll be prepared. Anyways, I want to enjoy my new computer but this gets me pissed.
Other information: OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I have a linksys router and a AE1000 adapter. When I first plugged in the adapter I had internet problems, always had to reconnect it. Then suddenly it worked flawlessly online and in video games. Now youtube videos load slower and I will get random lag spikes in game that last 5-7 seconds. I have done nothing to change the adapter, it just does this out of random.

It has always been the case with my laptop and another usb N adapter I bought a while back but this time when i upgraded my PC and got a DWA-552 adapter and the problem occurs again I was forced to try and debug it.PingPlotter had a constant ping check on my router's network address every second, every few minutes and sometimes seconds apart there would be 100+ ping spikes which always correlate with troublesome lag spikes in-game. And that's with Roaming Policy set to very low. Once set to normal it got much worse with 500+ ping spikes, and just to cement the correlation I set the policy to very high and 1000+ ping spikes happened.Could it be that DIR655 incorrectly reports to the adapter that it is about to drop the connection forcing a roam that results in nothing but a latency hiccup? I am not well versed in wireless mechanics. These ping spikes are often accompanied with packet loss.My DIR655 has several G cards connected to it (which work fine btw, my 552 seems to work fine in G mode too though I haven't tested it extensively yet - may be forced to since dir655 appears to be bugged with N mode) and several N cards that aren't used for gaming so this issue has never been a problem before.

I have a WRT160Nv3 router and I have been getting terrible lag spikes over the last few days, we have 10Mbps cable internet, nothing to fancy but about once every 5-10 minutes it will drop to .4-.5 Mbps for several minutes, When I make a direct connection from modem to my computer i get the full speed I should be getting of about 11Mbps. The lag persists in both direct connections and wireless.

I recently replaced my old WRT54G router with a E3200 router.
Unfortunately, ever since my wireless network is a lot more unstable than before. I very often experience serious lag spikes and drops in speed. Very often I experience serious lag for a couple of seconds after which everything returns to normal. I notice this the most in online gaming, but it is also noticeable while browsing the web. When downloading large files (e.g. steam games), the download speed also seems to suffer from this by dropping every now and then.
There are no connection drops however. And it only seems to affect the wireless network.
I have configured the E3200 router manually using the Web UI and is has been configured exactly the same as my WRT54G: i.e. only 2.4GHz band enabled with b/g/n, WPA2 security, MAC filtering on, no throtling/parental control/port forwarding, UPnP disabled. The E3200 is in the exact same place as the the WRT54G was.
Things I have done so far for troubleshooting: I used inSSIDer to monitor the wireless network and it's signal strength seems about the same as the WRT54G. I changed channels for best signal strength (there is only one other wifi network that seems to be configured as a dual channel N network; 3 other networks with very low signal strength) and have tried every channel.
I updated the fimware to the latest version (Ver.1.0.04 (Build 1)) and did a factory reset and power cycle afterwards.
I noticed that switching channels can account for 5-10Mbps differences in internet speed. Something I never noticed with the WRT54G. The lag spikes occur more often on some channels than on others. This seems not related to the speeds I get on the channel.
I really can't imagine that a router marketed as High Peformance router with superior speed and superior range is less stable than my old WRT54G router.
Is there something I can do to improve stability of this router?

I decided to change my old Belkin router to a Cisco one, and ever since i've got all sort of problems with internet connection.I'm a gamer, and my brother as well, and with the Belkin router we never got any issue, but now when we try to play together online we get serious Ping problems (We usually play at 80ms, but for a couple of seconds it reaches 800ms.. then it goes back to 80 ms).I have a 20 mb Conection with no P2P restriction, I'm using only Wireless-N connection, with only 20 Mhz and in Ch. 9 (2,452 Ghz).I also use a WPA2-Personal password and QoS System to give more priority to my PC and my games (DotA2 and WoW).This problem only happens when we try to play 2 games at the same time (e.g. DotA2 and WoW, or DotA and DotA, etc). Well i actually think Cisco might be better (Well, I payed extra money for "quality") but then again, with all those problems.

I have 2 computers hooked up to the router via wire and wife using wireless on her laptop.I'm playing games on internet and soon I noticed I got occasionally ping spikes.. The ping get beyond 1000 - 1500 so the screen is in fact temporary freezed. Sometimes those spikes can occur with 10-15 minutes inbetween them sometimes it can be an hour or more before I notice it.I'm running Windows 7 on both my computers. I first thought it was Microsoft was to throttle the packets so I did the change in the registry. But these spikes still happen. After some testings I also notice they happen at the same time on both computers so my conclusion is that it's something with the router.

The facility provides WiFi access. I'd like to configure his router to access the facility's WiFi, as WAN access to the internet while providing DHCP service to the wired ports. The idea is to use the 4 wired ports to provide inter-connectivity to each other and internet access via the router's wireless connection via wireless for internet access by the wired client machines.I'd also like to firewall the wired devices from access by other users of the facility Wireless network. Can I do that? How do I configure the wireless aspect of their Belkin Share 300N? What other settings do I have to set.

Product: Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G
Version: 6
Firmware: Has Been Updated
I am directly connected to my router. Lately, I have been receiving high latency spikes and total loss of internet. The problem must be related to my router, because when I connect to the internet through my modem I don't have this problem.

Since a few days I've installed my Sitecom 300N Repeater to extend the wifi signal at my home.I named my repeater the same as my wifi UPC modem (Cisco EPC3925), so the PC will see 1 connection instead of 2. I also turned off the DHCP server on the repeater (not sure what it does, but it was recommended when I was goggling around).fortunately I'm experiencing a lot of trouble. Although I can connect to the repeater, the signal is not always stable. Many times my connection speed is as low as 3 Mbps. When I quickly turn the power off and on it instantly jumps back to around 40 Mbps and stays like that for a few hours/days.It's very hard to debug this problem because after resetting the the repeater is doing very good until it slows down or even dispersers after a few hours.

I upgraded my internet connection through charter and they shipped a new modem. Installed my new modem and my 300n will not connect to it. So in my attempts to figured things out I went it in and set it up as an access point only. I can access the internet on my desktop but there is no wireless signal in the house. Cannot connect to 192.168.2.1 now either. Tried the manual reset to factory defaults with no luck. At this point all I get is the small flashing blue light and the tall skinny light is not on at all.

my router is sitecom gigabit 300N. since the past week there is this yellow exclamation mark on the connection in the task bar, near the clock. if I pass the mouse over it, it says no internet connection, eventhough I'm connected to the internet and I'm writing this right now, this is on desktop pc and connected to router by cable. the same thing on my laptop that is connected through WiFi, the signal strenght is normal, but there is the same exclamation mark. I'm pretty sure its the router not the PC because this happens on two different machines with the same router. I tried turning the router off and left it that way for about 7 minutes but that didnt work. is there something in settings I should do? or throw it away and buy Linksys/D-link router?

I have a problem with my wireless connection. I recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit OS and bought a new NETGEAR genie router WNR2200. I am experiencing lag spikes in 1-2 second duration while playing games. These lag spikes freeze the game and send my ping sky high (ping 999ms). While browsing the interwebz I don't really notice the lag spikes because they are only a few seconds long.Changes I have made (PC):
Disabled Client for Microsoft Networks
Disabled ANOD Network Security Filter driver
Disabled QoS Packet Scheduler
Disabled File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
[code]....
Mode: Up to 300MbpsAfter all these changes and tweaks I still get the exact same problem I started out with. The above changes were recommended by users of random forums to fix wireless lag spikes. Using a cat5 cable is not preferred (and perhaps not possible) as I am renting from random people and the router is on the other side of the house.

This has been a problem for quite a while now, jumping from Shaw to Telus,I have completely exhausted, and I have no idea what's wrong.I live in a household with another family, and we share internet connections, Telus Fiber Optik, as of now. Me and my brother both have our own computer and are connected via wireless adapter, and the other family has one laptop with wireless connection.
The problem would be that randomly, the internet would slow down considerably, with pings going insanely high, like over 9000ms (not joking). At first,I thought I was just too far away from the router. So I moved to a room directly under the router, and the internet was completely fine for around 1 week, then the random ping spikes started to happen again. Now, I've tried tweaking wireless settings, and checking to make sure its just not my wireless adapter, however my brother's adapter is new, but it has the same problem too, so I doubt its the adapters fault.

my ping spikes to 1k+ all the time, making online games pretty much unplayable. Sometimes I'll lag up to 3k ms and by the time my ping is back to normal, the game is so behind it is messed up forever.I've looked online for days trying to find solutions, and trying all kinds of things. The problem started after i reinstalled windows xp (it actually started right after my power flickered after i reinstalled, but i think that may be coincidence. I'm not sure though.). I've reformatted since then, but the problem still persists.I think the problem might be WZC, but when I try stopping the program like other people have done, my wireless network disconnects pretty soon after. I've also tried just using the intel software, but that didn't work either. It was fine for a while last night after I changed to the intel software, but after maybe an hour or so it went back to lagging.I have Intel PROSet Wifi agn 5100 as my network card. I'm on a laptop. I also tried doing a ping test in command on my mom's laptop, and it never spiked like mine. Is my network card maybe just too old? I got the laptop almost 4 years ago.

I run the CD setup disk and the driver install correctly. In the "Connecting the Adapter" screen I click next before connecting the adapter, the setup screen just close with out any notification and no icons on the system tray.I shut down the machine, insert the adapter and power on the machine, now I have the monitor icon and a wireless connection icon in the system tray (the Power led is green and the Link led isblink),when I double click on the monitor icon I got the following screen: no available wireless and the refresh, connect and manual setup are disabled.when I click on the "open the monitor" form the right click menu I got the following screen: also nothing to do on this screen.so I think it's was because I don't have any wi-fi around me, I shutdown the computer raise my wi-fi andrestart the machine, now the led in the same status but the system tray icons didn't appears and when Itry to open it from the menu it's run for few seconds without any screen and disappear.

I'm running Windows 7-64 bit. The AE1000 works great so far, in the one day I've had it, and it appears to start itself and connect when turning the computer on (unlike other people on here that I've seen). BUT, it's all pointless if I can't put my computer into standby. The adapter kicks it right back out as soon as I try to sleep the computer.
I've checked the device settings and "allow the device to wake the computer" is unchecked (in fact, it's grayed out). I rarely turn off the computer; I much prefer to just put it in standby. I don't want to have to unplug the adapter every time I do that.
