I am trying to set up this new extender on XP platform. I have only got as far as the username and login screen. I assume that this is asking for the nambe by which the PC (with me as user) is known and the password for this PC. I cannot get these recognised.
View 4 RepliesSince a few days I've installed my Sitecom 300N Repeater to extend the wifi signal at my home.I named my repeater the same as my wifi UPC modem (Cisco EPC3925), so the PC will see 1 connection instead of 2. I also turned off the DHCP server on the repeater (not sure what it does, but it was recommended when I was goggling around).fortunately I'm experiencing a lot of trouble. Although I can connect to the repeater, the signal is not always stable. Many times my connection speed is as low as 3 Mbps. When I quickly turn the power off and on it instantly jumps back to around 40 Mbps and stays like that for a few hours/days.It's very hard to debug this problem because after resetting the the repeater is doing very good until it slows down or even dispersers after a few hours.
View 4 Replies View Relatedmy router is sitecom gigabit 300N. since the past week there is this yellow exclamation mark on the connection in the task bar, near the clock. if I pass the mouse over it, it says no internet connection, eventhough I'm connected to the internet and I'm writing this right now, this is on desktop pc and connected to router by cable. the same thing on my laptop that is connected through WiFi, the signal strenght is normal, but there is the same exclamation mark. I'm pretty sure its the router not the PC because this happens on two different machines with the same router. I tried turning the router off and left it that way for about 7 minutes but that didnt work. is there something in settings I should do? or throw it away and buy Linksys/D-link router?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my internet connection through charter and they shipped a new modem. Installed my new modem and my 300n will not connect to it. So in my attempts to figured things out I went it in and set it up as an access point only. I can access the internet on my desktop but there is no wireless signal in the house. Cannot connect to 192.168.2.1 now either. Tried the manual reset to factory defaults with no luck. At this point all I get is the small flashing blue light and the tall skinny light is not on at all.

So what could be the problem for this? Because it's really annoying when playing online games.

With my ping going up to 1500 easily and staying up there for about 20-30 seconds. My brother is connected to the same router as me and he isn't experiencing any issue's with his internet connection (He is also using windows 7). Is this a common error?

Until now I had been using a laptop to pick up the wireless signal from my router, and pass it along to my PC, and have been receiving excellent speeds (30 Megabit) despite being 2 floors above the router.
I bought myself a Sitecom N300 card to go in the PCI slot of my computer, and my connection is generally extremely slow, and often drops completely for minutes at a time. The strange thing, however, is that it still shows medium to strong signal strength, even when the connection drops completely!
This is completely baffling me! I can't work out what could be causing interference, or why the signal strength doesn't go down when the signal does, or why the internal laptop wi-fi receiver seems so much better than this new card with 2 massive aerials. Unfortunately my ability to move either my PC or router is somewhat limited

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my motherboard and I'm happy that the WUSB 300N is still working. Slightly annoying issue when I wake my computer from sleep. No internet connection and when I go to adapter settings, the WUSB 300n is disabled. If I click enable, nothing happens. The adapter will immediately come back to life and connect to the router and internet if I unplug it and then plug it back in (the usb connector).I also notice that the adapter is still on when my computer is asleep, all of the lights are still on and blinking, this is not the same behavior that it had before, then it would just appear to be completely off. The motherboard is a MSI P67A-GD65 with an intel i5 2500K. There are some different C-State power settings that I'm not familiar with (previously had an AMD based mobo and processor).

View 10 Replies View RelatedThe Setup On my home network, I am running Windows Server 2003 as domain controller and file server with a SCSi attached disk array.I have several client PC's. 2 running Windows XP service pack 3, 1 laptop running Windows 7 Service pack 1 and a desktop also running Windows 7 Service Pack 1.These are connected by 2 switches - 1 x Netgear gigabit switch, and a Linksys PSUS4 USB Print server at 100mbps.The PC I use the most is the desktop running Win7 and transfer files to the server.After transferring some large files from the clients to the server, I noticed that the speed was considerably slower than what I was expecting it to be. After investigating, and eliminating elements of the network, I discovered that the Server NIC was running at 10mbps. I tried the usual things like forcing the NIC to run at 100mbps Full Duplex but this had no effect. Strangely, if I reboot the server while the desktop is still switched on the connection goes back to 100mbps. However if I reboot the desktop, or even alter the network settings, it immediatley reverts back to 10mbps.

It seems to accept new password but never does connect, and when I retry, there's the old password back again, which I don't remember and was for the other modem. Have tried deleting the Realtec Wireless Adapter and reinstalling but the old password still returns? Tried renaming Wireless Network but old password still returns? Tried accessing Registry with no luck. Only way the Laptop can access is to leave Wireless Network Open/Unsecured, but that's not an option.

However, when restoring, sometimes the process gets stuck somewhere (the client reboots prematurely if that happens) and more than often the clients can't boot into Windows anymore.All clients have the exact same hardware.Now I know the image can't be the problem, as I've restored this exact image to a client two days ago and it booted perfectly fine. Everything worked.I tried to image two clients at the same time. The first thing I noticed was that the method used was NFS and not UDPCAST, which it should be. I got stuck on acquiring network address. I've been using the same wifi connection for about 7 months now and this never happened before.
All the other laptops at home (Mac and XP) could connect except me. I tried to google over my phone but still wasn't able to fix it.

My work wireless network is stuck on identifying. It works for ALL other computers in the office. It works when I am wired to the router. I've tried most things that forums tell me to do. Below is the IP config. It is only this network and one other. Both are provided by verizon if that makes any difference.

If I try to use a wpa-psk it will not connectIn the past I was able to use wpa with no problem. View 2 Replies View RelatedI just dumped my dsl for cable and when I ran ethernet straight into the modem from my laptop I was pulling 30mbit to speedtests, but when I go wired or wireless through my router, it's capping at around 16mbit. Any decent priced wireless routers that will get me closer to 30mbit? My laptop has 802.11n and I saw someone locally selling a WRT160n but I don't know if that would do it either. Is the cpu speed of the router the limiting factor? The 54gs is 216mhz cpu, depending on the revision the 160n can be 300mhz.

I'm running a Windows XP Dell laptop. A few days ago I completely reformatted the computer because it was just starting to run slow. I reinstalled Windows from the factory CD and downloaded the latest drivers from Dell's website. Now suddenly, after the reformat, my network connection gets stuck on "Acquiring network address." Running ipconfig shows either 0.0.0.0 or a blank space for each field.Other laptops in the house work fine.I did discover that I can get it to say "Connected" if I go into the advanced settings and manually enter an IP address and use the subnet and gateway from my desktop's ipconfig results. The problem is that I can't actually get on the internet. It just says it's "connected."

When trying to connect (wireless or wired), I can't get past the authenticating status. Have used this computer with same router for 3 years. If there was ever a problem, I would unplug/replug the router.I am currently connected through my neighbor's unsecured network.
My Dell was running very slow, so I used the disks that came with the computer to reinstall Windows XP. After doing this, it wasn't detecting our wireless network. I went through on the drivers disk and installed the drivers in order according to Dell's specifications. It still wouldn't work, so I went to the dell website from another computer, and downloaded the drivers that pertained to the network. Now it is recognizing the network, I was able to enter my key, but it won't stop "acquiring network address". When I do the ipconfig /all, it looks like there is no IP address:
