Wireless Connection - Huge Random Lag Spikes?
Apr 27, 2011This has been a problem for quite a while now, jumping from Shaw to Telus,I have completely exhausted, and I have no idea what's wrong.I live in a household with another family, and we share internet connections, Telus Fiber Optik, as of now. Me and my brother both have our own computer and are connected via wireless adapter, and the other family has one laptop with wireless connection.
The problem would be that randomly, the internet would slow down considerably, with pings going insanely high, like over 9000ms (not joking).At first,I thought I was just too far away from the router.So I moved to a room directly under the router, and the internet was completely fine for around 1 week, then the random ping spikes started to happen again. Now, I've tried tweaking wireless settings, and checking to make sure its just not my wireless adapter, however my brother's adapter is new, but it has the same problem too, so I doubt its the adapters fault.

Jun 20, 2012Since about 3 weeks ago my DSL has been getting totally random ping spikes, from under 40 to over 1500MS for minutes to hours on end. Nobody else is using my internet, I've verified this. There is nothing sucking up bandwidth on any connected device or computer, as far as I can tell through troubleshooting to the best of my ability. I tried switching to a Cisco X2000 modem/router combo and it did nothing, still totally random latency. Also, when I called AT&T about this, they didn't even know what ping was. They ran an upload/download speed test (which is still mostly consistent regardless of latency) and told me I was basically making the issue up.

Feb 22, 2011I recently got a Static IP from my service provider, I'm working from home & configured a FTP server in my PC.
I have to transfer huge files say around 40 GB of data as I'm a Multimedia professional. I was using my web server, before for file transfers but there are lot of limitations to huge transfers.
My client, who is downloading using my Local Server says, it takes 3 mins to download a 9 Mb file, which took 17 sec before, when it was done with the webserver.
Does this have anything to do with my Internet connection speed as my speed is 1 - 2 Mbps. If not is there a possibility to increase my transfer speed ?

I am experiencing lag spikes in 1-2 second duration while playing games. These lag spikes freeze the game and send my ping sky high (ping 999ms). While browsing the interwebz I don't really notice the lag spikes because they are only a few seconds long.Changes I have made (PC):
Disabled Client for Microsoft Networks

Disabled QoS Packet Scheduler

Jul 12, 2011I am using csc-ssm module in Cisco ASA 5520 firewall, with the csc version as 6.3.1172.0. I have a public Ftp server and when i ever i transfer the zipped files more than 50 MB or 70 MB or more than that, it fails. I used to upload by clicking the ftp site and copy past the file to the location. After a certain point of time, the download fails with the below error on the explorer.An error occured copying a file to the FTP server. Make sure tou have permission to put file on the server.Details: The operation timedout

Jun 18, 2011I've been getting lag spikes with the WUSB600N. I am using Windows 7 64bit with service pack 1 installed. I had drivers version 3.0.1.0 installed and upgraded to version 3.0.10.0. After upgrading the problem got so so bad that I can't play online games at all. I tried rolling back drivers to 3.0.1.0 but it won't go back. I already tried reinstalling the drivers a few times and even reinstalled windows.

Nov 26, 2012I administer a wired SOHO network at a business I own, which is nothing more than a XP Pro machine which doubles as a file server. Typically, there are only 3 or 4 work stations in use at any given time, with 3 printers being shared. Backups are done after hours through portable USB. I have a home quality Netgear router behind a cable modem, and unfortunately need to use two 8-port unmanaged switches due to limited cabling between the workstations and the server. Said switches/cabling could prove to be the culprit, except that it used to work nicely.
A few months ago, while browsing the shared folders where the bulk of the approximately 180 Gigs worth of largely graphics files...(browsing from ANY of the terminals)...I began to be aware of random delays of up to 30 seconds or more. It seemed to be a sudden change, but has grown worse over time.
The files in question typically reside under several subdirectories, ie My Network Places/GID/Designs/Stan/Photoshop Files/TeeShirts... and browsing to the actual goodies progresses nicely until the VERY LAST directory, then WHAMMO.....XP flashlight goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.....you might wait half a minute before seeing the actual filenames in the window.
Its exasperating, and can randomly happen even if I'm the only person in the building, and the "server" seemingly has nothing else required of it.
Bandwidth Controller - Users Hogging Internet By Huge Downloads?

Wireless Internet Ping Spikes Up To 1k To 3k+ Every Couple Minutes?
Sep 28, 2012my ping spikes to 1k+ all the time, making online games pretty much unplayable. Sometimes I'll lag up to 3k ms and by the time my ping is back to normal, the game is so behind it is messed up forever.I've looked online for days trying to find solutions, and trying all kinds of things. The problem started after i reinstalled windows xp (it actually started right after my power flickered after i reinstalled, but i think that may be coincidence. I'm not sure though.). I've reformatted since then, but the problem still persists.I think the problem might be WZC, but when I try stopping the program like other people have done, my wireless network disconnects pretty soon after. I've also tried just using the intel software, but that didn't work either. It was fine for a while last night after I changed to the intel software, but after maybe an hour or so it went back to lagging.I have Intel PROSet Wifi agn 5100 as my network card. I'm on a laptop. I also tried doing a ping test in command on my mom's laptop, and it never spiked like mine. Is my network card maybe just too old? I got the laptop almost 4 years ago.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP600N Causing Windows Lag Spikes?
Sep 3, 2011So I just bought and recieved a new computer with the wireless WMP600N.
I turned the computer on and a had small lags every 5th second or so which, even though they are small, are pretty annoying. I then tried to look for a reason as to why this happens and what i found out was that if a turn off the wireless internet connection the lag spikes stops and if I turn it on they occour.
My computers specs are:
I7 2600k 4x 3,40ghz
Nvidia geforce GTX 570
8 gb 1600mhz RAM
WMP600N wireless-N PCI
Windows 7 64xbit
Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Lag Spikes And Unstable Network
Jul 23, 2012I recently replaced my old WRT54G router with a E3200 router.
Unfortunately, ever since my wireless network is a lot more unstable than before. I very often experience serious lag spikes and drops in speed. Very often I experience serious lag for a couple of seconds after which everything returns to normal. I notice this the most in online gaming, but it is also noticeable while browsing the web. When downloading large files (e.g. steam games), the download speed also seems to suffer from this by dropping every now and then.
There are no connection drops however. And it only seems to affect the wireless network.
I have configured the E3200 router manually using the Web UI and is has been configured exactly the same as my WRT54G: i.e. only 2.4GHz band enabled with b/g/n, WPA2 security, MAC filtering on, no throtling/parental control/port forwarding, UPnP disabled. The E3200 is in the exact same place as the the WRT54G was.
Things I have done so far for troubleshooting: I used inSSIDer to monitor the wireless network and it's signal strength seems about the same as the WRT54G. I changed channels for best signal strength (there is only one other wifi network that seems to be configured as a dual channel N network; 3 other networks with very low signal strength) and have tried every channel.
I updated the fimware to the latest version (Ver.1.0.04 (Build 1)) and did a factory reset and power cycle afterwards.
I noticed that switching channels can account for 5-10Mbps differences in internet speed. Something I never noticed with the WRT54G. The lag spikes occur more often on some channels than on others. This seems not related to the speeds I get on the channel.
I really can't imagine that a router marketed as High Peformance router with superior speed and superior range is less stable than my old WRT54G router.
Is there something I can do to improve stability of this router?

Jan 2, 2010I'm experiencing problems with the wireless adapter WMP600n. I'm a pc gamer, and as I play I get lag spikes with a ping up to 1000+! Also when I browse the internet, its insanely slow, or sometimes doesn't load at all. I looked for updates and manually installed them but no luck. I'm kind of mad since I spent $80 at staples for it. I'm using it with a wireless g router but I researched it before I bought it and it said it would work with wireless g, and I figured if we ever end up getting a wireless n router, I'll be prepared. Anyways, I want to enjoy my new computer but this gets me pissed.

Jul 21, 2012I have a linksys router and a AE1000 adapter. When I first plugged in the adapter I had internet problems, always had to reconnect it. Then suddenly it worked flawlessly online and in video games. Now youtube videos load slower and I will get random lag spikes in game that last 5-7 seconds. I have done nothing to change the adapter, it just does this out of random.

Nov 19, 2012I decided to change my old Belkin router to a Cisco one, and ever since i've got all sort of problems with internet connection.I'm a gamer, and my brother as well, and with the Belkin router we never got any issue, but now when we try to play together online we get serious Ping problems (We usually play at 80ms, but for a couple of seconds it reaches 800ms.. then it goes back to 80 ms).I have a 20 mb Conection with no P2P restriction, I'm using only Wireless-N connection, with only 20 Mhz and in Ch. 9 (2,452 Ghz).I also use a WPA2-Personal password and QoS System to give more priority to my PC and my games (DotA2 and WoW).This problem only happens when we try to play 2 games at the same time (e.g. DotA2 and WoW, or DotA and DotA, etc). Well i actually think Cisco might be better (Well, I payed extra money for "quality") but then again, with all those problems.

The ping get beyond 1000 - 1500 so the screen is in fact temporary freezed. Sometimes those spikes can occur with 10-15 minutes inbetween them sometimes it can be an hour or more before I notice it.I'm running Windows 7 on both my computers. I first thought it was Microsoft was to throttle the packets so I did the change in the registry. But these spikes still happen. After some testings I also notice they happen at the same time on both computers so my conclusion is that it's something with the router.

Two of 2960-s Stack switches as access switch and two of Cisco ME 3600X Series as distribution layer switches are to be installed in our sites. In case of two stack switches, One is will be a Master and the other one will be a member logically, as you know. So, if the master fails, the other one automatically becomes the stack master following a well-documented election process.
Now, it is my question. How long takes to be a stack master from a member switch ? I cant find it on white paper of Cat.2960-s flex stack .
And also, I heard that sometimes a member switches don't election process when the master fails as a result, all stack members become
a panic. Is that really right ? In addition, I heard that the stack switches have many troubleshooting points than stand alone switches.
I really wanna know if the stack switches are good solution for resilience of huge network site. I'm waiting an answer from those who have experience of maintenance or installation.

Lag Spikes When Two Or More Computers Are In Use
Feb 18, 2013Since about a week ago, my room-mates and I have been getting lag spikes on the internet when more than one of us are on the internet at once, yet the connection is perfectly stable when there is only one active. ( Does not matter which one. )
I've run Avast, AVG and CCcleaner, on all the computers and the spikes still persist. I've also replaced my router with no results. Here's my system info and some tracerts showing the lag spikes

Lag Spikes On Xbox And PC?
Apr 18, 2012About 2 weeks ago I have been getting lag spikes on my xbox and PC games, this never happened.I have no problem playing the game, no lag. Apart from these spikes that happen every 10-15mins.They last for about 5-10 seconds and seriously affect my game. (I get killed)
Would switching channel through the 02 Wireless internet control panel fix this? Am I on a bad channel?p.s. It is not possible for me to haveit wired, wireless only.
Lag Spikes On My PC Not On Any Other Computer In House
Oct 8, 2011I've been having problems with my internet on my PC. I use it mostly for gaming (League of Legends specifically but it's also hooked up to my Xbox for internet connection), and I frequently (about every minute or so, sometimes more) get bad lag spikes when playing games. My character will freeze in place while I click wildly about and then appear somewhere else (and die or lose a kill).
The thing is, I'm connected to my Apple Airport which all other devices in the house are connected to (Wii, dad's Mac desktop, my Mac laptop), and only my PC gets this lag. Seems like a fairly generic problem but I have no idea what to do about it, so if you need more information let me know.
