Jul 6, 2011I have a business class dell laptop that I have not used for a year or so (Dell support has expired). Last time I used it I had no problem conecting to our business/office linksys. I took the laptop home and tried to conect to a new cisco linksys e1000 wireless router (was not able to connect). As far as my laptop goes, what hardware (internal wireless adapter/etc) needs to be updated with latest drivers. Does the BIOS need to be updated? I am running Windows XP Pro. Other than the service pack (I am not at home so I can verify current service pack) what else needs to be brought up to date (hardware/software)? I have played with this for days and am done doing so until the laptop is totally made 'current". I will hard wire laptop to router to do these updates.

Oct 28, 2012Noticed this AM that a new firmware was releaesed to my EA6500!! Very surprised to find it Monday AM. I went ahead & updated my firmware but lost connectivity to my Comcast cable modem. I was leaving for work so I had to pull the router & revert back to my original Linksys router.zBig storm heading my way, figured the wifw ywould need internet to track Hurricane Sandy. Any others have a new firmware waiting for install this AM? Keeping my fingers corossed on this firmware upgrade. I'm hoping it solves the device map issue.

Jan 4, 2012A couple of days ago I noticed my download speed (from my own webserver) has slowed down. I checked my wireless connection and saw that the radiotype was now 802.11g instead of 802.11n, what is always has been. I looked at the Wireless configuration in the router's webbased config panel, but the only things listed there are "Disabled", "Mixed", "Wireless-G Only" and "Wireless-B Only". A scratched my head a bit, wondering wether or not I really bought an N router or just a G router. But IIRC I really bought an N router. It said so on the bill. Also, when I check the user manual, page 14 says I should be able to select "Wireless-N Only".

Mar 29, 2013i have just purchased my wrt54gl two weeks ago. Setup was a breeze and it worked flawlessly until this morning when i noticed i had no internet. The ethernet light on my modem, when connected to router (Ubee 10C035 3.0/Comcast ISP) will blink 2-3 times then stop for a half second then blink 2-3 times and so on. Plugged ethernet cable from pc directly into modem and my desktop connected to the 'net fine and light was blinking normally(constantly) again. A few power cycles/reset of the Router to defaults but no luck.

Oct 30, 2011I have a linksys E3200. Today I got disconnected and when it reconnected it stated that the network was changed to just network and not my usual network name. I was having connection issues with the network disconnecting me and reconnecting me. I uninstalled the cisco connect software. I contacted support who told me to restart the router and modem, which I did. After reset I tried to reinstall the software. Cisco Connect likes to insist to do the installation wirelessly but my laptop can't find the router during installation to complete it. My router is essentially a glorified wire connecting my computer to my modem now.

Sep 23, 2010I recently bought a Linksys WAG160N v2 model to replace my old setup of a Linksys WRT54GL + ASUS AM604g (ADSL2+ Modem) i had.I've set it up to dial my ISP's PPPoE connection as i had on the previous setup exactly, And it seemed to work at first.But now i've randomly noticed the connection just dies - the router doesn't respond to wireless at all anymore, and connecting from a wired machine shows the PPPoE link died, while the log says something along the lines of "PPPoE connection terminated: transport endpoint not connected" followed by a big number with lots of zeros and :'s. Probably some kind of IPv6 error address? note that i am not using IPv6 myself nor does my ISP provide any such addresses.
I've already upgraded the firmware to latest and installed the newest WiFi drivers on the machine i was connecting from wirelessly (has an Intel Wifi Link AGN5300 module).

Apr 2, 2012I have an e3000 that cannot obtain an address from the ISP. I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. I have hard reset the e3000, changed firmware from the Linksys to TomatoUSB and back to Linksys, and I still can't get it to work. It worked fine on Saturday until a bolt of lightning hit close to the house. Since then, I cannot get the e3000 to connect to the ISP.

And it's not just the internet, I have a media server connected to it, and usually when I put something on it, the transfer rate is about 3.5MB/s (not bits, bytes). But everything is slow, I top out at speed of maybe 1/6 normal on the internet as well.

I used the e3000 router when we lived in town with broadband internet and it worked fine. I can't get it to keep a hold of a signal. I can connect to the router from the computers but the router drops the signal from the tower. I have an old router that the wireless company was kind enough to lend me that works , but the signal is weak and it could die at any moment... I"m at my wits end.. Apr 19, 2010Has anyone tested QoS on the new E3000? Whenever I add an application (e.g. Voice Device) and set priority to Medium or High, my upstream bandwidth for everything else is immediately cut significantly, even when I'm not using the priority application.
For example, with QoS disabled, I can consistently get 10Mb upstream (speedtest.comcast.net). As soon as I enable QoS, upstream is capped to exactly 2Mb! On my old router, there was an option to set the total upstream bandwidth -- but on the E3000 there is no such option that I can find.

Feb 25, 2011I have FiOS and their supplied wireless router Actiontec #MI424WR. I have home theater equipment that uses the newer N signal so I purchased a Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router. I have one of the LAN outputs on the Actiontec feeding the Linksys input and Wi-Fi turned off on the Actiontec. This is working good for my wireless home theater equipment but I am having problems with my wired speed. It has gone from averaging anywhere from 20 to 30 mbps on numerous test sites when plugged into the Actiontec to averaging around 10 mbps when plugged into the Linksys.
1) Is my wireless N speed going to top out at 10mbps or less since that is all the router is showing on wired? Shouldn�t N be broadcasting a faster speed if given the ability?
2) I have my computer currently plugged directly into the Linksys verses the Actiontec. This makes it easier to program the Linksys router. Since I am no longer using the wireless part of the Actiontec there really is no need to be plugged into it. Is there anything I can do get the speed higher on the Linksys, a setting I can change? Will I have to plug the computer back into the Actiontec to get the higher speed and then move it every time I may need to make a change to the Linksys?
