Nov 2, 2012EA4500 in bridged mode and I can log in the the CCC account but nothing appears on the screen. I was able to see the settings, etc with the previious firmware. I reset the router and tried different browsers, PC, etc. Now running Ver.2.1.39.144146.

Feb 2, 2013I'm trying map the USB hard drive connected to my EA4500 router as a network drive in Windows 7, and it works perfectly until I enable secure folder access on the router.
After enabling secure folder access, and not changing any other settings on the router I first unmount the drive since it was set up without credentials and doesn't work that way any more. When I try to remap the drive I use the same address, but select "Connect using different credentials" When it prompts me for the log in info I try using the router admin account, but it fails to connect. Windows network diagnostics tells me the device refused the connection. I proceeded to set up an account on the router under the folder access settings with the same username, and password I use on my computer, and tried to connect it without checking "Connect using different credentials" (And typing them in manually if that matters) with the same results.
Even with secure folder access enabled I can still reach the drive just fine by typing "ftp://192.168.1.1/" into file explorer. It prompts me for a username and password, I put in the admin credentials, and I'm in. Even the account I created with the same username/password as my computer works this way.
After disabling secure folder access everything works perfectly fine again... I would MUCH rather do this with it though.
Following these directions: [URL] When clicking the browse button the router shows up when secure folder access is disabled, but does not after it is enabled. I've looked through my windows sharing settings, and haven't noticed anything that should cause problems, pretty much everything is enabled. I've also tried turning off my firewall with no success.

I resetted the router already and update the firmware.Still won't work. I thought maybe I need to put a static IP but I won't find the DSN Code.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Internet Access Is Not Affected When Printer Appears To Be Offline
Jun 10, 2011I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together. The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline. Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines. I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router. This always works. Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now. It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

I used to be able to copy files to the drive so I am sure it is just a setting on the router or something.

In Itunes however, I created a library including everything I want to share, but Itunes is unable to save the library.When I check security options on the hard drive, I see that it is owned by an unknown user and I am unable to change ownership of the drive. The owner is listed as "Account Unknown S-1-5-21 plus a long string of numbers) I think that if I can take ownership of the drive, I can get iTunes to save the library. how I can change the account ownership of the storage drive? Trying to change ownership properties, I get an access denied message.When the drive is connected to a PC via USB, I am able to change its ownership, but it reverts back to the Account Unknown owner when connected to the router. All three computers are running Windows 7 64bit.

As you can see, all of my videos are in a carefully constructed heirarchy. This works with my old media server (Rivet for Mac). On the E4200, however, all of these MP4 files are merged together. My Xbox shows folders like "Albums" and "By Date", but these don't really mean anything -- all of my videos are jumbled into these folders and there's no way I can find anything.
Here's how the media server is configured:
If I can't find a solution, than the media server feature of this router is absolutely useless to me.

Dec 28, 2011I have created a share (entire partition) on my external hard drive, which is connected to my E4200 router. The connection to the share is \192.168.1.1ExHDOn the hard drive I've got a folder called "Mijn muziek" (Dutch for My music). So when i go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMijn muziek, the content of the folder is shown. The weird thing is, I can rename the folder, but i cannot add anything to the folder or remove anything from it. I can add files to other folders on the hard driveAnother thing I don't understand is that his folder shows up as "Music" when I create the share.Music is not a folder on the hard drive, but when I go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMusic, i'm in the "Mijn muziek" folder.I have the exact same problems with the folders "Mijn documenten" (shown as Documents) and "Mijn afbeeldingen" (shown as Pictures). WMP doesnt let me browse the folders as they actually are on the HDD which is such a pain in the **bleep**.

May 12, 2012My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem. The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP. I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail. The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G. At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work. Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

May 6, 2012I'm hoping to get this router to allow WOL (actually wake on WAN) but it seems to be blocking the necessary broadcast magic packet even though the settings appear correct. It's not critical, but the reason is this: I'd like to shut down the home PC, but when necessary be able to start it up and use a VPN to access any info I need remotely.
From within the LAN, I can verity that WOL works. I have NIC and PCI WOL enabled in the BIOS. The NIC (a Marvel Yukon Gigabit) has WOL enabled as well as "allow this device to wake.." using magic packets under power management. The target machine's local IP is reserved through the EA4500 DHCP Reservation table. Just for troubleshooting, I opened port 9 in windows firewall. More importantly, I have ports 7-9 forwarded to my target LAN address. Single port forwarding... it just has been less reliable (?). I'm using a mask of 255.255.255.128 in order to enable broadcasting on .127 at some point as it seems it must be necessary. Broadcasting on .255 is not possible, despite some workarounds I found on the web. EA4500 firmware is the latest, 2.0.37. I have turned off the multicast filter and the anonymous internet filters under the security tab.
So, with these settings, I can WOL from inside the network no problem either targeting the LAN address, or by using a dyndns address. So far so good.With these same settings, I can go to WAN using Depicus or the Cloud Connect Pro app over 4G on an iPad. With all these same settings, WOLsniffer confirms the magic packet still getting through over WAN (obviously using the dyndns address). Even better, I can shutdown the target PC and STILL wake it up within a few minutes from WAN. Let me restate that! Wake up over WAN works, but only for the first few minutes after a shutdown.
However, if I wait 20 minutes or so, WOL stops working. If I change the port forwarding to .127, not only does it not work, but WOLsniffer will fail to see the magic packet. My conclusion is that the ARP table is getting purged, which is undertandable, and so the target LAN address isn't in memory. However, frustratingly the EA4500 will not broadcast no matter what settings you use. This limitation is undocumented, and counterintuitive since the software allows you to disable multicast filtering and does not notify you of an error when forwarding to xxx.xxx.xxx.127 with a 255.255.255.128 mask.

Oct 23, 2012I bought 2 weeks ago a Linksys EA4500 after searching the best Wi-Fi Router all over the net... I choose this cos all over people writed that it was amazing, fast a nd very good coverage all over the house.
Before I had a Buffalo AirStation Dual Band, wich worked perfectly. But since I have several tv and a central NAS whit all films in MKV, I wanted the BEST product for my system, so I choosed Linksys EA4500!
Well, the result is that (when it works it is greate) but sometimes it disconnects and I have to restart it... And second thing that makes me MAD is that the coverage in my house is WORST!! Before my Wi-Fi was present in all the house, now in some parts doesn't work! The position is the exact same of the Buffalo, so it's not a problem of position... I tryed also a router of 40€ and it has a better coverage! How come? how is it possible that a person pays more than 200$ (in Italy it costs 185€) and the result is so BAD??? I'm totaly freak about Linksys now.

Oct 20, 2012I'm in the process of wanting to upgrade my wireless network but I'm not really agreeing to the Cloud Connect, I don't need to have my settings on the internet. I want to manage everything on my own. I've found the following link on the community to be able to put the classic firmware before the cloud connect feature {URL}.
My question now is : If I buy a brand new EA4500, will it still be possible to downgrade to that firmware? No problem with this one? I'm hoping Cisco will continue to publish bug fixing if any to this classic firmware.

Jul 3, 2011I have a Linksys WRT54GS v5.1 router running firmware 1.52.5.I am trying to use Linksys IP Phones SPA942, but these do not seem to be able to log on and just show "Initializing network" even though the MAC address appears in the router with an IP address.The strange thing is that I already have 4 SPA941 phones that work with no problem and just log on to the network.Is there something about the SPA942 that I need to configure differently, I have factory reset it with sucess, but still unable to log on to the network.

I upgraded the firmware using the PC utility and now I can't find the 2.4GHz SSID no matter what settings I do. I've disabled and enabled it multiple times, changed it to have no security or with security and enabled and disabled it and renabled it. Nothing seems to work, but for some reason the 5GHz side I can connect to using a 5GHz device. I've also tried disabling the 5GHz side, but still no 2.4GHz.

This computer (HP dv6000 running Win Vista home prem) however will not connect to the internet. It states that it is connected to the router (computer sees router), using the cloud connect app on my iphone i can see this computer, but will not allow access to the internet (local connection only). It works fine with the wired connection. When attempting to use the cloud connect software, it says it was unable to complete the install. Have attempted trying while connected by wire as well, same result. Have deleted the wireless connection and allowed software to find connection, still same result, cannot install. Wireless worked perfectly with previous router (WRT54G) three days ago.
