View 1 RepliesI have a EA4500 that I get error 2315 when I try to Delete, change name,or icon. I did a 30/30/30 and everything worked great,24 hours later I was back to error 2315. I tried re-flashing the firmware, but that didn't work. I get the same problems when I try using the Smart Wifi app. There are also times when I can not access the router using Smart Wifi unless I reboot the router when I get home.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm consider either the EA4500 or the EA6500.I've got a desktop computer and a Kindle Fire HD, my son has a school laptop that he uses during the school year. At this time we don't have any HD TVs or smartphones but that may change in the future. Also something to add, not sure if it would make a difference or not but we've got Wildblue/Dish Network Satellite Internet.I'd rather only have to buy one router that will last me for several years.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update. And this equipment was working fine before this. Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?
I've run into this before, but I can't figure it out this time. Running Windows XP SP3 on a Dell Vostro 1510 notebook with a Linksys WRT54G router wireless. Using Dells Network Assistant for management, so I cannot get to Windows wireless connection management directly.I have a connection to the internet with a Security Key. When I bring up a browser (Firefox or IE) I cannot resolve to a web site. There is a Cisco login screen that is forced. It's from a previous wireless connection on a different network at a different location.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GL v1.1 with password I don´t know.I wonder how can I delete the password? I tried resetting but still asks for the password!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI moved to Comcast internet yesterday (from 3Mbps DSL), and the E4200 seems to be working well (although somewhere along the way it decided to delete all the files on the NAS drive...an issue for another day). On my laptops and wired PCs I'm now seeing 15-20Mbps down, and 4Mbps up. However, when I connect with my iPhone 3GS, I only see about 7.5Mbps down, and 4Mbps up using online speedtests. I have tried messing with the router settings and resetting all the network settings on the iPhone but nothing changes. I know my iPhone can handle more, because I get 15Mbps down when I visit family (they have a Netgear N300). I can only conclude that my E4200 is the cause.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using a WUSB600N wireless adapter with my WRT610N router for quite some time and it has been very stable for quite some time. A few months ago, I switched to a new computer, basically the same model (both computers ran Win7 64bit) except with more hard drive space and two extra cores. I then moved the old computer to the router for a direct connection, moved the new computer in the same exact place as the previous computer, and set up the WUSB600N on the new one. However, on the new computer, my connection has been extremely unstable. Sometimes the connection works fine, but other times there are long periods of no connection (though the computer tells me that I'm connected) and download speeds are horrid during this time period. What is causing the instability after only getting an upgrade to the previous computer?

Is it possible to even get Gigabit dowload speeds via DSL or would I have to go cable to achieve something like that ?My main concern is I don't want to buy a modem that will slow down or 'throttle' the capabilities of the new router I've just purchased or have I got the wrong idea ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to use the EA6500 in my network - but nor as primary router (or in fact routing at all). I would have thought, one could simply tell the device to use a particular gateway, but it does not seem to be easy. I have used many other home routers as combined switch/AP/USB-drive (latest a D-Link DIR-655), but the EA6500 seems very picky. The "easy" "Smart Wi-Fi" setup requires internet access through the WAN port - and that divides my home network, which then have two zones which cannot really "talk" to each other. Alternatively, I can reset the device and access it directly on the IP (initially 192.168.1.1). But then I can change only LAN and WLAN settings. Stuff like Guest Access, USB-devices etc. won't work. Do anybody have success with this device without using the WAN port and the DHCP server?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a pair EA4500s that I am swapping out for a pair of EA6500s. One EA6500 is a router. The 2nd EA6500 is set as a bridge and us being used as an Access Point about 200ft and two floors above the main EA6500 router. The two units are connected via DECA (200MB Ethernet over DirecTV cable - an alternative for others with a cable provider is called MOCA). So, basically two EA6500s serving as two Access Points on opposite sides of the house and all wireless networks on different channels but all sharing the same SSID. Everything works GREAT except for one unusual issue.
The issue is with wired or wireless clients. If I try to use my PUBLIC address with port number to address a local client on the local network inside the NAT network the NAT redirection fails. In other words if I use 172.16.16.8 for a local web cam while inside my network from an iPhone or PC all works great. If I use the external public address, however, the connection times out. If I pop out the EA6500 doing the routing/NAt and swap it with the old EA4500 with basically the same config as the EA6500 everything works again. The EA6500 and the EA4500 are configured identical for the most part and with the EA4500 as the main router NAT redirection works great but with the EA6500 NAT redirection fails. I have the firewall setting to FILTER NAT REDIRECTION unchecked so that's not the problem.
Seems very odd.... and only seems to happen with the EA6500..... the work around is to use the local IP address when the client is on the inside and the public address when on the outside, but what a pain that is....
Any work around to enable reverse NAT or similar functionality on the EA6500? I recently upgraded from a Dlink that did support reverse NAT to my internal devices through a dynamic dns service. Now I have to know the IP address for all the devices.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi setup my new EA6500 with the ethernet cable from my cable modem plugged into the EA6500, but with my old E4200 still switched on, but disconnected, i seemed to have ended up with a ip address of 10.250.27.47, not the 192.168.1.1 i was expecting, which i had with the E4200, my question is, is 10.250.27.47 something i should expect with the EA6500, or do i need to do a factory reset on the EA6500 and start again with everything else switched off as a precaution ?

This issue seems to happen about once every week or so. I get the router settings all configured and I'm able to access it from Cloud Connect and from the APP on my smartphone. After about a week, it's no longer accessible from cloudconnect, I can access it from my smartphone, but it shows that there are no devices connected (when they are actually connected). The screen for cloudconnect will come up after I sign in, but it just has the circling dots in the center of the screen saying "waiting" and it will do this until I close out explorer. The only way I've found to resolve this is to reset the router and set everything from scratch.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem with my Cisco EA6500 router. I have a domain that is pointing to my public IP address of the home network. I have various computers and applications that listen on different ports for various reasons on this network. Everything worked fine until a week or so ago when I had to restart the router. The reason was that while I did a routine change (add a Mac filter for wireless) the router stopped responding. After restarting it, I could not access the home computers through the domain name (public IP) while being inside the network. If I try from outside my LAN it works fine but when trying from within the LAN the hostname and IP are not reachable. Also, everything works from inside the LAN if I'm using LAN IPs.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI set up EA6500. All kinds of problems with anything on the 2.4 MHz band. My wireless desktop on the 5.0 MHz band was flawless. So I ran Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector (freeware). The router is transmitting two 2.4 MHz signals! One is the SSID I set up and named. The other one is identical in every way except that the BSSID is slightly different. It is a non-broadcasted SSID that shows up on every device as "Other Network." I was on the phone with Cisco Support tonite, and they were great as usual but had no answer. If you change the channel on the 2.4 MHz band, the shadow network also changes to the same channel (this blew the Tech's mind). We reset the router to factory settings and started over. They are calling me back tomorrow. This router has great features on paper, but so far, it has not delivered.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe only way I could get my EA6500 to work as auto DHCP to my Roadrunner Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard cable modem was to disable IPv6 support on the router. It appears that the EA6500 attempts to issue the DHCP request for address assignment from the modem using IPv6. I could see the status of "Connecting" for IPv6 in the Diagnosis Reports and it would hang. Once I disabled IPv6, the modem assigned an IPv4 address and everything worked fine. However, am I giving up any functionality by having to do this? I bought this router and the WUMC710 Universal Media Connector for the 5GHz connectivity for streaming and just wondered if I'm impacting UMC performance or any other functions of the router by having to disable IPv6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have my EA6500 behind verizon fios router. I have 5 static IP addresses assigned to FIOS router, however the machines I want to connect to are behing EA6500. It's a dual NAT scenario:
Public IP - FIOS Router - 192.168.1.0/24 network - EA6500 - 192.168.2.0/24 network
What I would like to do is for each public IP address, I would like to forward traffic to a particular host on 192.168.2.0 network. I can easily configure FIOS router for static NAT and assign one internal IP (from 192.168.1.0 range) for each public IP. However, I don't see a way to assign multiple IPs from 192.168.1.0 network to EA6500 internet interface.
I don't want to use EA6500 as a bridge as it will pretty much reduce my EA6500 to a very expensive GigE switch.
Is this possible? Or should I replace it with something more useful like a business router? This is for my home so I would like to avoid buying an expensive business router.
I am interested in running the EA6500 without all the Cloud Connect software etc. Is this possible? Is there a basic way to set this up without that requirement?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought the EA6500 last week. Had to RMA it on Monday and got the new one today. The issue still persists. The power light is constantly blinking and my computer is unable to obtain an IP address from it. I contacted tech support and was unable to get the issue resolved so I had it exchanged believing it was defective. The new one does the same thing. When I connect my computer to it, the light on my Ethernet port stays a solid orange instead of green like it does for my usual router. The Cisco light is constantly blinking.
