I have a linksys broadband router E2000 and a cable running from it to another location where I have a linksys WRTG2 V1. I would like the WRTG2 to be running in the same subnet as the E2000, but I seem not be able to get this done.

The first router (gateway) LAN IP will be 192.168.0.1/24.I would also like to set up another router behind the gateway with with separate subnet 192.168.1.X/24. And I would like clients on the 192.168.1.x subnet to use the internet through the gateway router and clients on the 192.168.0.x subnet to access resources on the 192.168.1.x subnet. Am I able to do this with two RV042?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was assigned a static block over PPPoE from the ISP. I can connect to the internet using the gateway address but I need to route the other static IPs to my servers. I might say that I accomplished it on a couple of older routers - E1200 & WRT120N, but I cannot get it to work on my new EA3500. I have 5 usable IPs plus the gateway IP that is assigned with the PPPoE connection on the WAN port.
View 8 Replies View RelatedDue to the way I have my DSL and VOIP TA configured I need to be able to set the subnet mask in the Internet connection. I am currently using the Static IP, putting in an IP of 192.168.1.x with the subnet of 255.255.0.0 when I try to do this it gives me an error saying that 192.168.33.1/255 is reserved for the guest network. I am not using the 33 at all ANYWHERE. If I change the subnet to 255.255.255.0 it will save but I can't connect to the internet with it. My router I just bought today is the E2500 I have an old Linksys WRT model that worked fine with this exact setup for several years before it crashed on me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy issue is sharing a printer across my main Network and the wireless one, the description of the setting: I have my main Network 10.1.1.0/24 (RV082) and I hooked the wireless router E4200 at an IP 10.1.1.82 and the wireless network is 192.168.1.0/24 I setup a printer/scanner with an IP 192.168.1.72 for sharing on both Networks. Now everyone on 192.168.1.0 network is able to access and print but none on 10.1.1.0 I did put a static route on the RV082 to direct the requests for the printer to be redirected to 10.1.1.82 but no success.
The E4200 is setup by default out of the box I had just to set the static IP, Gateway and DNS and of course the wireless security key nothing else. the NAT is enabled on the E4200 and RIP is disabled, I tested the connection by disabling NAT and enabling RIP, at which I was able to connect to the printer but the Internet went down for All Wireless users (192.168.1.0 network)
I purchased and set-up the EA4500 on Thursday. Friday my ISP (Charter) was out and worked on connection for over 2 hours due to slowness issues. Connected directly to modem I get normal ping times on whichever computer is connected. When I get the computer connected by the router (hard wired) I get very long ping responses up to 900ms. They are all over the place 30ms (I can live with that), up to the 900's. I contacted Linksys support last night, who had me update to the cloud firmware and change MT U to 1300, have not noticed a difference. I did end up doing a hard reset on the router last night after I lost tech support. We were disconnected with router rebooted, and I didn't have the patience to connect again last night.
It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out. The computers connecting to router are

I have an e2000 wireless router and have several devices connected by ethernet cable including private data on an external hard drive. I am planning to allow a tenant in another building connect via an ethernet cable connected to my router. Can I limit that computer (tenant's computer) from accessing all other devices connected by ethernet cable to my router? I know can password protect wireless access and limit access to the internet that way -- but my question is specifically to connections by ethernet cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy E4200 router no longer accepts any WIRED connections. I can connect from the modem to the computer and everything works as expected. I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with a wired BEFSR41 that, for a variety of reasons, MUST be manually IP configured (DHCP off). All computers and other devices connected to it are manually IP configured. I desire to add a device that cannot be manually configured, and needs DHCP. I therefore need to daisy-chain two routers with the second one DHCP on (and manual IP connection to the main network). The new device needs two-way internet access, but doesn't care if it sees any other current network devices. I've tried several configurations, none seem to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.
I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time. I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time. With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died. The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything. Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.
Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours. Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.
I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1. I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen. I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.
In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out. I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
I have an old BEFSR41 ver. 2 wired outer that I'd like to use with a motorola modem/router as a hub. Is this doable?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI switched from Time Capsule with AirPort to E2000 and have a problem with configuration.I use the same IPs as in AirPort and E2000 gives me an error:"The WAN IP address cannot be the same subnet as the Guest Network IP address" and I can't save configuration.But in my opinion they are different.I use "Static IP" option and I have IPs from my ISP: [code] So WAN IP is different subnet as LAN and I don't know what to do now. It worked with these settings in AirPort and here I can't proceed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco E2000. When i connect to my cable modem directly, I get 30-35 MBps down and about 10 up. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.

Today i wanted to connect 2 wired computers to it via lan and whatever i do dosnt connect. Dosnt even let me acces the 192.168.1.1 page to router settings.I am on firmware 1.0.02, i also did a full reset and then did set up with cisco connect, did try that thing with the cisco usb connect and still no joy with the LAN conection.
One comp uses win 7 the other is on win xp. I can connect both comps succesfully to other router via the gigabit ports but not to this one.
I see on the control panel that there is MAC filtering for the wireless connections. I don't see a similar control panel for computers that are wired directly to the router. Where do I find this?

I had been experiencing connection problems with my desktop that was wired to the router, and in an attempt to resolve the issue reset the router to its factory defaults. Now, as before the reset, I can connect to my router just fine via Wi-Fi (I have several devices connected this way) but none of the computers that I attempt to connect via ethernet are able to establish a connection. I have tested multiple cables with multiple computers using multiple ports on the router, to no avail. When I view the Status --> Ports page on the router, I can see the ports in use that I am connected to, but that is the only sign of connection that I get.

But when my newest Dlink router failed for the 3rd time I decided it was time to find a better make. The Linksys E2500 came highly recommended. The trouble I am having is that I've been using an old DLink DI-604 wired router as a hub to get 3 extra wired ports. But with the linksys router I can't get this to work.. Can this be done with this router and if so, how do I have to setup the routers?

I have a very unusual issue though.
I can connect my iphone and Xbox wirelessly through my router with no issues on their side. However, any time I do so, it kills my wired connection on my PC. I'm not doing huge downloads or P2P or anything like that. In fact, the speed drops immediately on my PC the moment I connect my phone to the wireless network regardless of what i'm doing on the phone (checking email or loading a webpage).

About 6 months ago I bought a new router (Linksys E1000 v2.1) which worked great right out of the box. A couple months later I tried to setup a home network so that my two laptops could access a shared drive on my wired desktop, but for some reason they didn't show up as being on the same network. All computers involved are running Windows 7 if that matters.
Upon a recommendation from I friend I put DD-WRT on the router and it worked fine. Setup MAC filtering and WPA2 Personal security. This worked fine for about 4 months until today.
When I got home from work today I noticed my laptop wouldn't pull up any web pages, but it said it was connected. Then I noticed my iPhone wasn't connected either. I restarted my laptop and then it wouldn't connect to the wireless either (I could see the wireless, but I would get a Could not Connect error when I tried to connect to it).
I went to my desktop and it is working just fine, it is plugged into the back of the router. I also have an AT&T MicroCell (cell phone booster) that is plugged in to the back of the router and it works fine too.
I removed the encryption and MAC filtering. I then reset to factory (or "factory" DD-WRT) and now the wireless works, but it is MUCH slower than my desktop. I ran a speedtest on my desktop and got 12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. On my laptop, I get 0.03 Mbps down and 0.25 Mbps up.
My brother has an HP G60 from 2009 with windows 7 home premium and 64 bit operating system. Whenever he turns it on and connects it to the internet, the whole network crashes. My xbox, ipod, laptop, and the main desktop (Which we also just changed to a Dell one.)downstairs all cannot connect to the internet. This lasts from anywhere between 2 and 15 minutes and it continues to crash the internet in about 15 minute intervals as long as his computer is connected to the internet. No other devices in the house cause this as I can have all of my stuff connected and nothing happens. We have a Linksys WRT110 router but I don't think that or the modem is the problem as we have changed both multiple times. This has been happening for about a year ever since my oldest brother gave my brother the laptop.
View 10 Replies View Related1. Just got a new DLINK Xtreme N DIR-825 Router. Directly connected this to the internet.
2. Currently, the Linksys WRT54G (1st Generation) is connected to the DLINK by an Ethernet cable to one of the 4 ports on the back.
3. The Linksys further splits the signal to another 2 computers and a NAS by hardwire.
4. The internet is still getting through to all the computers, but the computers are not able to access the NAS or each other.
5. I can't seem to open the WRT54G's access (192.168.1.1) because (I thin) the new DLINK uses a local set of IPs that are 192.168.0.1xx.
I can login to the NAS using its IP, and I can see it on the 'Network Places' of the computers ,but when I try to connect, it says the drive is moved, etc. etc.I use a variety of computers / O.S's on this system: XP (2) hardwired, Win 7 (2) hard wired, Win 7 (1) wireless, Mac OS X Snow Leopard (1) Wireless, plus various other wireless devices (phones,Wii, etc.).
NAS is a Synology DS411+
1) Get logged into my Linksys
2) Get the NAS accepted by other computers on the network.
am having speed issues on the wireless side of my WRT54GL v1.1 router.When I hook up a laptop to the wired port, am getting roughly 5.4mps down when wired, but only 1.2mpbs down on wireless. I am tried doing a factory restore. I have made sure that no QoS is in place. I have tried multiple devices to make sure it is not something on the device side causing this problem, but all the devices perform just as poorly on wireless but as well on wired.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed a brand new e4200 replacing my WRT54.Wireless works good with a noticable performance improvement over my old wireless.However, the wired conenctions are not solid at all. I am getting over 10% packet loss from the wired conenctions.I can not even connecct to the web ui reliably over wired connections.I upgraded to the latest firmware release with no real change at all.
