I have a Cisco linksys router e1550. My wireless network is working fine, but my wired (PC) is not working?
Removing the router and having the modem connected to my PC works but when I put on my router my wired connection only works for a few seconds to none
So I think the router may be causing it, could it be the settings? Even though there at default.
About 6 months ago I bought a new router (Linksys E1000 v2.1) which worked great right out of the box. A couple months later I tried to setup a home network so that my two laptops could access a shared drive on my wired desktop, but for some reason they didn't show up as being on the same network. All computers involved are running Windows 7 if that matters.
Upon a recommendation from I friend I put DD-WRT on the router and it worked fine. Setup MAC filtering and WPA2 Personal security. This worked fine for about 4 months until today.
When I got home from work today I noticed my laptop wouldn't pull up any web pages, but it said it was connected. Then I noticed my iPhone wasn't connected either. I restarted my laptop and then it wouldn't connect to the wireless either (I could see the wireless, but I would get a Could not Connect error when I tried to connect to it).
I went to my desktop and it is working just fine, it is plugged into the back of the router. I also have an AT&T MicroCell (cell phone booster) that is plugged in to the back of the router and it works fine too.
I removed the encryption and MAC filtering. I then reset to factory (or "factory" DD-WRT) and now the wireless works, but it is MUCH slower than my desktop. I ran a speedtest on my desktop and got 12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. On my laptop, I get 0.03 Mbps down and 0.25 Mbps up.
I'm trying to set up a wireless network for my parents. I have a Belkin Play N600 router (model F7D8302) that I'm trying to hook up to an Acer desktop running Vista. The modem is a Siemens Speed stream 4100. I have a cable going from the ethernet port of the modem to the modem port on the router. The pc is connected to one of the other four ports in the router. The wireless works fine, but I can't get the wired connection on the desktop working. The Internet light on the modem is not on, but the modem works fine when connected directly to the pc. I've tried power cycling and resetting everything, but it's still not working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E1550 Wireless Router that is fast as can be on the wired connection, getting 30mbs from the cable modem connection. If I switch to using wireless on the same PC, the max connection speed I'll get is 2mbs. I've changed all sorts of settings trying to get this working right, and it still stays at 2mbs.As an additional note, this router was previously working fine at 30mbs on wireless as well, then out of nowhere this weekend, it started running at 2mbs. I went and purchased another of the same model and it is doing the same thing as well.
What is the secret to having this run at it's correct speed, not this slow 2mbs that it is now? I have configured this the same as every other Linksys router I've had in the past, and it is running horribly slow..I'm on the newest firmware as well, have already verified that. The old router was updated to newest firmware as testing to resolve this, and the new router came with it installed already.
I have a E4200 v1, connected with a few PCs by ethernet ports and various devices by wifi. Now the wireless devices work perfectly but sometimes the PC via ethernet ports cannot connect to LAN and internet.

On the other one, though, the router asks for a user name and p/w, but the setup screen never loads. I get the eternal "Loading" message but it never gets there.

I've read the various threads on here and tried all the fixes suggested and I still cannot get my PS3 to "see" the USB drive I've attached to my router.I can see it and access the files from a connected computer, but not the PS3.I've tried creating a share with one directory and sharing the entire partition with no luck. I've enabled all the FTP options with no luck. UPNP is enabled. I've tried setting up the guest account with no luck.I've tried restarting, unplugging with no luck either. I also went into the USB drive and reformatted and started all over again.My PS3 can easily see the other computers on the network, but I would like to use the USB port on the router to not have to have a computer running to stream music.Is there another menu location on the PS3 I should be using to locate the USB? Currently I just look under music or video and the other computers are there. Just not the USB.

When the WRT54 was in place everything worked without a hitch, but the E1550 keeps dropping us from a server we have on the main network. The WRT54 is back in play until I can figure this out.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a win7 desktop upstairs with all of my media on it.I also have a winXP laptop that I would like to use as a media center running xbmc connected to my tv downstairs.I have set up a workgroup so my laptop can access the media stored on my desktop and everything works great when they are both hardwired to my router (Linksys E3000).However, as soon as I unplug my laptop from my router and switch to the wireless connection I can no longer ping my desktop or access the shared folder (internet still works fine on the laptop, it just cant see my desktop anymore).If I plug it back in to the router, everything works again.
The exact error message I get when I try to access the shared folder is "\INFINITYMedia is not accessable. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. [code]
Intalled a new router (Linksys Cloud 1200) yesterday. Immediately after that the 2 computers that were connected to the network could no longer access the internet. My laptop and my ipad can access the internet wirelessly. The laptop which was not connected to the network when I connected the router can access the network both wirelessly and wired. Printers attached to the network will print without a problem.Finally I took an old computer out of storage (running WinXP) and hooked it up to the wired network. It too has no problems accessing the network. So have to assume the issue is a software issue with the two computers that were hooked up to the network when I changed the router.I have read the posts here - I did a stack reset on one of the computers but no luck. I removed Norton 360 and Team Viewer which in other posts people said they had issues with...to no avail.
Since I dont have a wireless connection to the 2 computers that cannot access the internet - I cannot download TSG SysInfo. However here I did copy the ipconfig lines below from the desktop thats not responding. [code] Was working fine until I replaced the router. I tried going back to the oldrouter (Netgear) same issue - no wired internet connectivity.
I have a E1550 with a corrupt config that is acting very wonky lately (shows wrong info in some of the settings and doesn't always save changes). Since it may be the config that is at issue, I don't want to do a backup/resote, rather I plan to do a full factory reset and manully type everything back in.What would be nice is, creating a text based, human readable printout of the config for reference so that I don't have to manually type it all twice (once to save it, once for reentry). PS3 ports, MAC filters, etc. have several entries, and they way the pages are designed it doesn't allow for easy, whole entry, cut and paste.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy objective is to use the USB port on the E1550 to share an external hard drive for my family's shared media files.I have moved into a rental home with little cat5 wiring. Internet service is Uverse.Given the wiring situation, I bought a netgear universal dual band range extender which connects wirelessly to the uverse router in another room. My home office equipment (computer, printer) are wired into the netgear. All of that works fine. The netgear is 192.168.1.66. The computer is 192.168.1.128. So, I wanted to add the E1550 into my network. I can see it as an attached device on the Netgear's admin page, but cisco connect and a direct ip http://192.168.1.68 does not resolve. I have the e1550 connected via a lan port on the netgear extender (there is no other option). I have gone from that lan port to the internet port on the e1550. I have done so with a staight Cat5 cable and with what I believe should be a cross-over. In both situations, I see the router via the netgear admin page but can not connect to it. I'd prefer not the hang my usb drive off of my computer because it if gets turned off or reboots due to a MS Windows auto update, it leaves the rest of the house with no shared media during that process.

I called AT&T but as part of their diagnostics, I have to plug the modem directly into the PC. I have loaded the latest firmware to the E1550.Lose Internet but wireless connectivity to router exists.Internet light on modem is out (modem is connected to router)Unplug modem and leave off plug in, internet light is still out.Unplug router, plug router back in - no internet connection but do have wireless connectivity to router.Take cable from modem to router and plug directly into PC internet light comes on in modem and I have internet from PC.Take cable from PC and plug back into router .I have internet via wireless.What I can't figure out is what could be happening in router that would impact modem internet connection. I have replicated this at least 3 times. Yes, the modem is a bit old, but since plugging it directly into the PC works, I'm thinking it has to be the router and I cannot figure out why unless there's some sort of electrical thing going on in the router.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had previously posted about problems with the E1550 not being able to recognize NTFS formated hard drives. After multiple retries and reformats I was finally able to get it to work and was able to backup my system files to that NTFS hard drive.
Now, little more than a week later I setup to run my backup to run again and once again the E1550 is not accessing the hard drive. The same one it had previously acknowledged and allowed me to save to.
The E1550 sees that there is a hard drive out there but all it says is "Detecting..." this does not change.
I need this to be fixed and stay fixed. If it is going to do this every time I turn on the drive to do weekly backups, then I need to get a different wireless router.
I installed a Linksys E1550 wireless router at home and I moved an external storage drive from the old computer (soon to be gone) to the router via the USB port in the router.
I can see the drive and files on the router on both the old computer and the new laptop, but I can't do anything with them. When I look at permissions for any given file it says: "Everyone" has read and execute only. "root" has Full Control, but I can't gain access to the "root" userid. I have gone through the router setup and folder/file properties using the "admin" userid and the router acknowledges that it is there, but it won't allow me to add permissions for the "admin" with "Full Control" to any of the items.
It won't even allow me to add new files, even though I have setup sharing for the entire partition.
So, what I essentially want to do is share the device connected to the back of my router so that I can remotely access it over the internet. Much like the manual says you can do.
But I'm having trouble. I've currently got the port set at 38, but the website never loads.
I may be replacing my e1550 soon and am looking at both the N750 and N900 class devices. While the EA3500/4500 seem to be a really good deal with a lot of bang for buck, I do have one concern...
As I have zero intention of ever using Cisco Cloud Connect, I would need to stick with the Classic firmware. While Cisco did quickly push out a solution to get the routers back to Classic after the initial Cloud Connect deployment fiasco, I cannot seem to find any commitment from Cisco to continue to support the classic interface (other than "“Cisco will continue to support both local and cloud management options for our customers.”). Even more disconcerting is that the current evidence seems to indicate that they are not. [code]
So, while I do understand that many of the updates have been Cloud Connect specific, some of these changes are in fact global/driver updates. As an example, according to the release notes, on June 25, 2012 the EA3500 CCC firmware v.1.1.38 (Build 138143) updated the WiFi driver, apparently the Classic never received this update.
I'm trying to upgrade the firmware of a BEFSX41 wired router from version 1.43.3 (apparently the first revision after the original realease) to 1.52.15 (the latest I found), but I can't get it to finish. I'm using a Mac with all the latest versions of OS, Safari, and Firefox. When I use Safari to initiate the upgrade, it get's to the point where it says "Please wait ! Setup will take a few minute _____" and nothing else happens after that, even after waiting 30 minutes or more. When I use Firefox it gets to the same "Please wait" message, then a few minutes later Firefox displays an error message "Connection Interrupted: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.

I just need to know what to do with this RV042. I have two modems, a cable and an ADSL. Both are configure correctly, in bridge mode. Both work fine when connected to WAN1, but when connected to WAN2 they never go online (dont' get IP address). The connect lights are on but they never go online.

I recently purchased a E1550 that works fine until I tried adding an external USB HDD for storage. The drive is a Western Digital 500MB drive I used to use for backups. Had no issues setting up the share and was able to access it just fine. But a few hours after hooking it up, my wireless devices could no longer connect and I could not access the admin page to see what was wrong. The E1550 was still pingable and my wired devices could still access sites through the router. Cycling power to the router did not work. What did get things working again was removing the USB drive (which killed all wired connections as well) and then cycling power. The E1550 was fine after that.

This is necessary because I want to take advantage of all the features in the new router. I put the RTP300 behind the first router and switched off DHCP and connected the internet port into one of the 4 regular ports on the back (typical configuration for a pass through router).So everything works perfectly for any computer attached to the router (they can access the internet etc). The only problem I have is the VOIP doesn't work. If I pick up my phone it says this device is not registered to a phone number.

When I connect my Comcast Internet to WAN2 port INTERNTE/DMZ) it doesn't get an IP address. and the Internet goes down and the WAN2 port ip address says 0.0.0.0.I've tried releasing/ renewing and it still says 0.0.0.0.Everything else is set as the default.

I've just set up a MR3420. It works fine in "WAN only" mode and provides access via our ADSL modem. It also works fine in "3G only" mode and provides access via a Reliance Netconnect+ USB modem (a Huawei E150 I think). I updated the firmware to the latest version in order to get it to work with the USB modem.
The problem I have is that when I set it to "3G preferred" it doesn't seem to connect over 3G. I can see it tries to connect but then fails and then WAN takes over. The connect and disconnect options are greyed out on the 3G page so I am unable to manually get it to retry. I've tried leaving it for a long time but it doesn't seem to connect over 3G ever. I've tried setting 3G to connect on demand and connect automatically but both behave the same.
hen its wireless, it has no problems with the internet, everything works fine.But when its wired, webpages will still load, but youtube videos wont work, anything that consists of streaming doesn't work, and he cant even useI have connected other laptops to the same cord and there is no problems. so i know its not the cord and i imagine its not the router since everything still works fine with other computers.

The router is connected via ethernet to a dead computer: a 7 year-old Dell desktop that will boot up but shut down right away. I have been able to connect multiple laptops wirelessly to this network. I thought an ethernet connection was required in a home network such as mine? The cable has been plugged into a dead computer for several months and frankly I'd like to get rid of the desktop. What exactly is the ethernet requirement - just to be plugged into a port? Could I theoretically just yank the ethernet card out of the desktop and use it instead of the whole dead system?
