I have a E4200 v1, connected with a few PCs by ethernet ports and various devices by wifi. Now the wireless devices work perfectly but sometimes the PC via ethernet ports cannot connect to LAN and internet.
View 2 RepliesI have been using my laptop since a year now and yesterday suddenly my internet stopped working. On top of the connectivity bar a yellow sign appeared. Now my internet status is "No internet access" but when i connect my ethernet cable the internet starts working and i can see the "Internet access" status. I have re-installed my wi-fi driver too from the orignal CD that i got with my laptop, but still no luck also i did not install anything in past 1 week and the only anti-virus i have is Avast (tried disabling it too). I plugged out the cables from my router and plugged them again but that dint work too. There are 2 other laptops (running on windows 7 just like mine) on which the wifi connection is working but on mine it is not working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI try connecting via ethernet cable and it doesn't seem to work until the administrator of the network (my brother) comes home and then turns his computer on and starts using it. However, if i switch to a wireless adapter it sometimes works (like right now) even when my brother is not using the internet. Also, i tried to connect via wifi on my macbook pro to the same server and it used to work flawlessly 100% of the time, now i can only connect once in a while for short periods of times.

I have the 1.0.03 firmware installed and URL blocking doesn't work. I assigned the policy to the entire address range and could still access the web site I wanted to block.

I have an E4200 and I can not get WoL to work over the internet.(I'm assuming it's not actually going out to the internet when I wirelessly wake it using shawn.dynamicservice.com and the subnet, but rather the DDNS name is being resolved through the ARP cache, but I don't know. I'm still learning) Consequently, if the sentence above in parenthesis is correct, I am unable to perform WoL from outside my LAN. What am I missing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got the e4200 the other day and everything has been great except I can't seem to get my ABS megacam 4 ethernet camera to work.It was working fine with my old router, and if I plug directly into it it works, but I can't access it through the router at all. I can see the camera in my routers client list, the camera is set to DHCP and it is assigning it an IP address but I can't connect to it. From my desktop pc (wired) I can using the IPwizard software that came with the camera and it will see the camera on the network but it wont connect to it, my wireless clients can't even see the camera using the same software.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have three brand new E4200 routers, all using the most current firmware (1.0.02). They are all in bridged mode, however when I attempt to enable the guest network on each of them, the config shows it as active, but it never shows up as visiible SSID. In previous posts, I've seen people saying that I need to do a complete hard reset of the router and re-enter all the configs again to get the guest network active. Is this true? I'd hate to think that I have to hard reset and reconfigure all three of these APs, just to get the guest network enabled.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently bought myself the E4200v1 router, and have had several issues with it. One issue I cannot seem to find a workaround for is the wifi bandwidth problem.I have a 100/10 mbitl internet connection. The router claims to support 300/450 mbit speeds over wifi, so that should be plenty. in reality however, that isnt so.Even though my N-standard wifi adapter on my machine states it has a 130 mbit connection to the router, I consistently test the internet throughput when using wifi and speedtest.net to around 20-21 mbit. If I put in a cable, I instantly get full speed, 100/10 mbit.
Have to add; I am not new to the networking game, I have a CCNA and a degree in computer sciences, and work with hosting web sites using cloud tech every day. At this point, I have tried everything related to settings on the router, so I can only conclude that there's some kind of bug in the firmware. I would expect the standard firmware to work, and not having to install DDWRT or other custom firmware.
I have Linksys configured with IP 192.168.0.x and my local network ip 192.168.1.x have firewall connected to Adtrans box that gives us internet access via T1 line and other port is connected to the switch. Wireless router is connected to the switch using internet port.I can connect to wireless using iphone but emails don't work when connected to wireless. I've just set up a MR3420. It works fine in "WAN only" mode and provides access via our ADSL modem. It also works fine in "3G only" mode and provides access via a Reliance Netconnect+ USB modem (a Huawei E150 I think). I updated the firmware to the latest version in order to get it to work with the USB modem.
The problem I have is that when I set it to "3G preferred" it doesn't seem to connect over 3G. I can see it tries to connect but then fails and then WAN takes over. The connect and disconnect options are greyed out on the 3G page so I am unable to manually get it to retry. I've tried leaving it for a long time but it doesn't seem to connect over 3G ever. I've tried setting 3G to connect on demand and connect automatically but both behave the same.
I have the Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router, when i hook my at&t modem to the modem port on the router the wireless portion of the router works, when i plug any pc into the Ethernet ports it doesnt work!If i plug the modem into the Ethernet port and plug other pcs into the other existing Ethernet ports it works by Ethernet but not wireless.

About 6 months ago I bought a new router (Linksys E1000 v2.1) which worked great right out of the box. A couple months later I tried to setup a home network so that my two laptops could access a shared drive on my wired desktop, but for some reason they didn't show up as being on the same network. All computers involved are running Windows 7 if that matters.
Upon a recommendation from I friend I put DD-WRT on the router and it worked fine. Setup MAC filtering and WPA2 Personal security. This worked fine for about 4 months until today.
When I got home from work today I noticed my laptop wouldn't pull up any web pages, but it said it was connected. Then I noticed my iPhone wasn't connected either. I restarted my laptop and then it wouldn't connect to the wireless either (I could see the wireless, but I would get a Could not Connect error when I tried to connect to it).
I went to my desktop and it is working just fine, it is plugged into the back of the router. I also have an AT&T MicroCell (cell phone booster) that is plugged in to the back of the router and it works fine too.
I removed the encryption and MAC filtering. I then reset to factory (or "factory" DD-WRT) and now the wireless works, but it is MUCH slower than my desktop. I ran a speedtest on my desktop and got 12 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up. On my laptop, I get 0.03 Mbps down and 0.25 Mbps up.
Restarting the e4200 did not work. Resetting using the switch at the back did not resolve the issue. I was able to reset it via the 192.168.1.1 web page. After restoring my settings from backup, the issue remained the same. This was not alleviated after I updated the firmware. Plugging into one of the ports with a cat5 cable with my Mac, I was able to get an IP, yet I was not able to surf; same case with my MacBook.
Doing the 30-30-30 reboot did not fix this issue and all the while the front white light on the router went and stayed, solid.To see if I could get this to do ANY sort of meaningful internetting (is that even a word?) I put the e4200 in bridge mode and when I put the cable modem in, and all that plugs into this router works. This, of course, means that there is:
1. No Wifi signal and
2. It will not reset to factory settings.
Mac airport shows full bars in network connnection and green connected dot, but no access to internet. Ethernet connection works fine. I also couldnt connect with my Iphone.
I have Charter cable with Motorolla SB6121 modem. I've reset the modem, rebooted everything, cloned my ip address, all several times .......but still no go.
Linksys says they don't support this router anymore accept for a pay for support service, which I would like to avoid.
I have a Belkin usb adapter to pick up my wireless internet. problem is when i choose my network to connect to it constantly says "acquring network address". But as soon as i plug in an ethernet cable from the router the wireless starts working and i just unplug the ethernet cble. So why does my wireelss card depend on my ethernet conenction?

There's a wall socket which connects to a bigger student local network, I can connect my desktop to it directly and it works so there seems to be nothing wrong with my computer. I've had 2 routers before this, another Telewell that worked flawlessly and a Buffalo that cut the connection every now and then but didn't have this kind of problem.
I have the router plugged into the wall, set to get a dynamic ip (as it should be) and it does find Wan-side ip-address and dns-servers, as I could connect through wifi. So there doesn't seem to be a problem with that either. But for some reason Lan doesn't work. I can access the router through Lan, dhcp is on and I can see my desktop on the routers client list.
I am running XP Pro SP2 Ver. 2002 on my laptop.,i use the wifi connection very well. But when i plug the rj45 cable in from the modem,the LAN icon says Little or no connection.

No status lights turn on at any point (e.g. syst, xps...). 10g network module is installed with a 10g LRM SFP. All lights on the module are amber. However, it passes according to POST. Switch passes traffic, obeys config, etc. Link lights on RJ45 ports work fine. This was brand new out of the box. Thinking about trying IOS reload..

I know these are no longer supported, but I have to ready them for migration. Recently a problem began with these switches. What happens is that when I telnet to them, I cannot authenitcate via TACACS. This works fine for all our other IOS equipment, just not for these 2 switches. The error is:" % Error in authentication" and then I get kicked back to the login prompt.
The odd thing is that when I connect to the switch via the console port, I can authenticate fine with TACACS.

Everyday time I log in, the wi-fi says my connection is unidentified or identifying but it always stays like that with the yellow triangle with the exclamation point. So I use the "Diagnose and repair" feature which tells me to either reset the ip address or something or one of my cables is unplugged so I should unplug the modem and router and replug it back it after checking the cables.The resetting the ip address doesn't do jack but if I unplug the router and replug it in, the wi-fi works again...well, until i log off and log back in againI've also tried updating my wifi drivers, run a scan for viruses, and updated all my software. Its been like this for a month now and I just found this site.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to connect to the internet via the Ethernet port on my laptop, but the built-in Wi-Fi card works perfectly fine. I normally use Wi-Fi, as our signal is very strong, even if I go outside and up the road, I can still connect.
My issue is that although I don't need it, I'd like to setup Ethernet for the first time since installing Windows 7. I've had Windows 7 since April 2011, and prior to that I used Windows Vista. From memory, I don't think Vista had any problems with connecting via Ethernet back before I moved house, but this was over two years ago.
My laptop is an ASUS X58L, and the NIC identified by Device Manager, is a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Going into the properties, I can see that I have the latest Windows 7 driver installed - 6.111.723.2009, however prior to this I had the driver that came with the machine (when it was running Vista), which was 6.108.331.2008 and tried updating from Device Manager, but for some reason it said that I had the best driver already installed. To install the 2009 Windows 7 driver, I had to manually download it from Realtek. With either of the drivers, connecting via Ethernet doesn't work, and I'm confused as to what to do next.
Im trying to bridge my zyxel eq660r-f1 dsl modem so that i can resolve the nat issue im having in my home network. Only problem is that everytime I bridge the modem and hook my E4200 up, I cannot connect to the internet. If i connect my laptop directly to the modem, I do get internet but not through the router itself.
