lost wireless to all wireless devices (laptop, iPhone and iPad). Still have hard wired ethernet internet access from desktop. Tried resetting router, powering off router, resetting and powering off cable modem. Nothing works. Lights on router all on.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Comcast cable internet routed through a linksys E3000 router. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

Mac airport shows full bars in network connnection and green connected dot, but no access to internet. Ethernet connection works fine. I also couldnt connect with my Iphone.
I have Charter cable with Motorolla SB6121 modem. I've reset the modem, rebooted everything, cloned my ip address, all several times .......but still no go.
Linksys says they don't support this router anymore accept for a pay for support service, which I would like to avoid.
I got burned after purchasing a 3TB WD 3.0 USB hard drive that I can not use on my current E3000 or the their latest E4200. At least support knew that answer fairly fast. My bad for not taking the time to think I would have to search this website to find the short list of external USB drives that will work with the E3000.All I wanted to do was store my media files on a shared network drive. I am cheating the system now and using a shared drive on the main PC. The whole point of my project is not to have the main PC running to share media.So before I go scrap this 60 day old router, using WDs My Life 2TB ETHERNET connection external HD? Does actually have one of these drives installed on a E3000 using win xp pro? I did search high and low here, but could not find a list of acceptable external Ethernet drives or size limitations.Burnt once, lesson learned, will not get burnt again.

I can connect to the router with my internet port connected to the computer but that is it. I tried connecting the modem to a port connection and it showed connected. I'm confused as the firmware loaded fine. May be I went over my abilities which is usually the case.

A problem that I could not find a solution to is that the devices connected through Ethernet can't be viewed on Wireless, and vice versa. This is especially annoying because I want to get access to my media servers over wireless, for obvious reasons, but even those are not viewable (and using IP addresses on portables is a pain in the back)

It worked fine until one day it just gave up. It's connected to DSL Modem with Ethernet To a Apple Mac G5 power PC There are two other older macs connected via Ethernet, same problem. When I took the router out of the chain, and connected G5 directly to modem, normal internet speed. My firmware is up to date. Both wireless bands work great. When I look at Cisco Connect, everything looks normal. factory settings.
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust installed an E3000 in my house. All wired PCs are working fine on the network, and my BlackBerry connects to the wireless signal just fine. I got an AE1000 for my laptop. It installs fine, sees the wireless signals (secure and guest) fine, but it simply won't connect to the E3000 either using the Easy Key I created with the Cisco Connect software or by manually entering the WPA2 passphrase. The WZC window that shows the networks tries to connect and then fails with no error message. Using the Cisco Connect software to do the same task also fails, and after entering the passphrase manually there, the error message is:

Also, I can find nothing on the laptop since installing the adapter that allows me to switch between the dual bands. Since that was one of the main advertising points for the AE1000, how do you control which band it's using?
My computer worked fine on the eithernet, but I had to move it to a different room and now it won't recognize ANY WIFI connections. I know the wifi is working because I have laptops and phones connected to it. the computer is only 8 months old. It's an HP Pavillion AMD Phenom II 820 Quad-Core Processor, Windows 7 64 Bit, Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to connect to the internet via the Ethernet port on my laptop, but the built-in Wi-Fi card works perfectly fine. I normally use Wi-Fi, as our signal is very strong, even if I go outside and up the road, I can still connect.
My issue is that although I don't need it, I'd like to setup Ethernet for the first time since installing Windows 7. I've had Windows 7 since April 2011, and prior to that I used Windows Vista. From memory, I don't think Vista had any problems with connecting via Ethernet back before I moved house, but this was over two years ago.
My laptop is an ASUS X58L, and the NIC identified by Device Manager, is a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC. Going into the properties, I can see that I have the latest Windows 7 driver installed - 6.111.723.2009, however prior to this I had the driver that came with the machine (when it was running Vista), which was 6.108.331.2008 and tried updating from Device Manager, but for some reason it said that I had the best driver already installed. To install the 2009 Windows 7 driver, I had to manually download it from Realtek. With either of the drivers, connecting via Ethernet doesn't work, and I'm confused as to what to do next.
I've been searching how to make my E3000 use the DHCP and IP address on my primary router so I can share printers and computers on same gateway IP. I tried turning off DHCP on E3000, but not sure how to tell it to use the DHCP from the source "INTERNET"

I've owned it for over a year and it's given me no problems until now...Hardwired ethernet connections work fine, but the wifi no longer works consistently. I have several wireless-N wifi devices that either cannot connect to the router at all (they present an error message), or do connect but will not load anything over the connection, or will load web pages very very slowly and then suddenly drop the connection.When I go to the DCHP client table, I see all of my ethernet connections but it does not show any wifi devices, even if the WiFi device is showing a connection to the router.The wifi connection is secured via WPA2 Personal.I have tried changing channels to one that was not congested with any other nearby routers. I have also tried a 30-30-30 factory reset. I am updated to the latest firmware version (1.0.03). I am sure I am entering the correct pass phrase to connect over WPA2. All of my wifi devices are confirmed to be wireless-n, not g or b.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently switched my router from an older Linksys WRT 54GS to an E3000. The WRT 54GS was working perfectly fine, but I needed to upgrade to a 802.11n router to use with some of my devices at home. I unplugged all the cables from the WRT54GS, and connected all the cables into the E3000 - in the exact same sockets and order they were on the old router. When powering on, all the lights eventually turned on (Power, Internet and Ports 1 to 4), except the wifi is still off. I tried running the installation CD, but it says it cannot find the network. I tried a reset (back button) as well as 30-30-30 reset, but no matter what I do, the wifi indicator still doesn't turn on. When switching back to the old router, it has no problem broadcasting a wifi signal again. Is there anything else I should try, either on my PC settings or the E3000 router itself?

I have the E3000 router. I set it up about a month ago and had my laptop and iphones and ipads all hooked up and working great. About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.

Now my internet status is "No internet access" but when i connect my ethernet cable the internet starts working and i can see the "Internet access" status. I have re-installed my wi-fi driver too from the orignal CD that i got with my laptop, but still no luck also i did not install anything in past 1 week and the only anti-virus i have is Avast (tried disabling it too). I plugged out the cables from my router and plugged them again but that dint work too. There are 2 other laptops (running on windows 7 just like mine) on which the wifi connection is working but on mine it is not working.

Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.

The main router is in my basement connected to my cable modem and is my DHCP server. The second one is on the main floor and provides my wireless signal (no DHCP, and is hard connected to the main router).I have lots of connection drops with the wireless router on the main floor. Lately I have noticed a trend, though. My connection drops mostly when I browse my network (usually browsing pictures on another computer) or when large files or videos are being transferred. If I connect a cable, I have no problems. When wireless, I have signal drops.I have tried every trick and tip that I've seen on this forum or been provided in the Linksys FAQ. I've changed the beacon interval, fragmentation threshold to 2306 and CTS to 2307, I've tried changing channels, I've checked and unchecked boxes for NAT, Filters, etc. I've tried different combinations of WPA2 passwords. I've tried dynamic routing, static routing, blah blah blah...
When I set the 5Ghz channel to Auto(DFS) it defaults to channel 36 and 144Mbps. When I use other channels, I get 300Mbps. Either way, my connections still drops.
I have the latest firmware 1.0.04 Build 6.I even have the router sitting on top of a laptop cooling pad to keep it cool.No matter what I do, as soon as I start browsing my network the wireless connection drops.I am so frustrated! I upgraded my WRT-160N to this E-300 router to get the faster speed and dual band but have had nothing but trouble. I never had a connection drop with my 160N.
EDIT: I notice that when my signal drops, I can see the power LED blinking on the router, like it's going through a reboot cycle.
I've recently upgraded my home network and now my wdtv can't connect to my shared hdd's on my pc for streaming purposes. Previously I had some piece of **bleep** G router/modem combo from Verizon and I didn't have any problems accessing my network shares, I did have a streaming problem with some .mkv's because the signal was so poor. I Finally dropped some cash on a d-link modem and an linksys E3000 router. Here's the messed up part, if my wdtv is plugged, physically, into my router I can access my shares just fine. I can stream movies with out any lag what so ever. If I go wireless (as I have previously been with the old westell router/modem combo) I can no longer see my network shares. I can connect to the internet and do netflix, pandora, ect. But when I go under network shares all that shows up is my router..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a 2 month old e3000 with the latest firmware. (1.04 i believe) I have run speedtests from wired and wireless machines on my network. All of the wired connections show a speed of around 15Mps (which is consistent with my providers guaranteed speed) but when I test any of the wireless connections I get somewhere between 3 and 7 Mps. I get the same degradation in speed when I stand directly next to the e3000.
Other then SSID and Passphrases I have everything set to the default settings. I have rebooted multiple times with no change. The e3000 is mounted on a 2x4 with several feet of clearance all around and is also located in the coolest part of the house. I am using Speedtest.Net for all the tests.
I am trying to connect my DishNetwork DVR up via a wireless link to the E3000.My home network consists of a Linux Server acting as a router/gateway for a DSL link, with several pc's (XP/MAC/Linux) connected on a local 10/100 lan.The existing lan addressing scheme uses static IP's and the DVR requires a DHCP link.I thought the E3000 would solve that issue by using it's DHCP server capability to host the DVR wirelessly and integrate it into the rest of the lan.I set up the DHCP and reserved an IP address, which the DVR pick's up just fine, but although I can ping the gateway and DVR in both directions, I am unable to access the internet.I've tried to set up a static route, but I think I'm not doing it correctly. View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running an E3000 router with 1.0.04 build 6 Dec 6, 2010 firmware. I have two computers on a wired Gigabit LAN and others on WiFi (802.11g). At first, all works well and I get normal throughput via the WiFi computers.However, after about a week, WiFi speeds crawl to a fraction of what I normally get (from 12-13 Mbps down to 1-2 Mbps and from 4.8 Mbps up to less than 1 Mbps). My cable modem service is 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (I get 38.9 down and 4.9 up via the LAN based computers)
How I resolve this? I need to reboot the router! Once it comes back on-line, my throughput on WiFi is restored UNTIL the following week where speeds are back to a crawl. While WiFi crawls, the LAN based computers still enjoy maximum throughput.
I have Lenovo laptop and my internet works just fine when the cable is connected but Wifi does not work. It shows that i have excellent signal on the side but it just wont connect. When i type in password it says " Windows cannot connect to XYZ ". I use Windows 7 and my wireless network adapter is Atheros AR9285.

There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

Works just fine. Now I wish to boost the signal to a building beyond the local area by attaching a wireless router to a Dell 260 running XP. This router's IP is 192.168.11.1 (ON) and 192.168.11.100 (OFF), and I've spent hours with the Connection Wizard thing on XP trying to create a ethernet path to the router but I can't find a configuration that states an ethernet path or channel. The modem lights normally and other machines can pick up and connect with its signal but there's no real transmission, the receiver machines getting:Firefox can't find the server at [URL].Check the address for typing errors such as [URL]instead of [URL] If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.Ironically, the router works just great on the Macs, which has both Airport on to receive signals from a cable TV wireless router and also has its shared Ethernet connection on, and the ethernet side requires no IP configuration like it seems you must on the XP's internet connection page. The router in question just plugs in the Mac and transmits just fine. I would use the Mac for this purpose but I really wish to use the Dell.The Dell's current network configuration after many trials:

Oddly, the Mac's Network panel states: "The cable for built-in ethernet is connected, but your computer does not have an IP address and cannot connect the internet." Yet it does!
my linksys e1000 router compares pretty well to my modem when the Ethernet cable is hooked up. I get fast DL speeds above 50Mbps either way when the Ethernet cable is plugged into my computer. However, when I connect wirelessly, regardless of range I can't seem to DL any faster than 20Mbps. I went ahead and restored my factory defaults so that I could use Cicsco Connect and upgrade the firmware, but beyond that I don't know what settings to tweak.

WRT400N worked great for 18 months.
Last week the Verizon-supplied DSL modem went bad (wasn't receiving data) and was replaced.
Now I can get Internet direct out of modem, and when I connect it to router the router's Internet light is on, but it seems to stop there. Devices connected to router via Ethernet or wifi don't get Internet.
I'm able to get to the router's admin console via Ethernet and wifi, but no Internet.
I have my internet coming from my DSL modem (of course) and running into my wireless router. Once it is in the router I can't get a connection, period. Not even through any of my router's ethernet ports. This wasn't the case until about 3 o'clock yesterday. If I unplug the cable from my wireless router and plug it directly into my computer it runs fine. If I run it through my Micro-Cell tower and into my computer it runs fine. But if I plug it into a router it won't work through Wi-Fi or Ethernet. I have tested the connections of all the ethernet cables I am using. Figuring it had to be a problem with my router (since it was working earlier and the connection only disappears when plugged into it) so I bought another, same problem. What else could it be? PS: I'm using both a MacBook Bro, a PC, a PS3, and a Nintendo 3DS and none get a signal from the wifi. I always keep the PC hardwired through the ethernet ports on the router and use the wireless for everything else
