I installed dd-wrt latest for this router but it wont show any connections to the ports. I can connect to the router with my internet port connected to the computer but that is it. I tried connecting the modem to a port connection and it showed connected. I'm confused as the firmware loaded fine. May be I went over my abilities which is usually the case.

Every day our various win7 computers lose connection to our home wireless HP printer, usuall when on standby or sleep. We basically have to add a printer to find it again each time. I looked at the router E3000 setup and the dhcp release by deault is 0. I can't find any documentation on how make that permanent or do not renew.

My bad for not taking the time to think I would have to search this website to find the short list of external USB drives that will work with the E3000.All I wanted to do was store my media files on a shared network drive. I am cheating the system now and using a shared drive on the main PC. The whole point of my project is not to have the main PC running to share media.So before I go scrap this 60 day old router, using WDs My Life 2TB ETHERNET connection external HD? Does actually have one of these drives installed on a E3000 using win xp pro? I did search high and low here, but could not find a list of acceptable external Ethernet drives or size limitations.Burnt once, lesson learned, will not get burnt again.

A problem that I could not find a solution to is that the devices connected through Ethernet can't be viewed on Wireless, and vice versa. This is especially annoying because I want to get access to my media servers over wireless, for obvious reasons, but even those are not viewable (and using IP addresses on portables is a pain in the back)

It worked fine until one day it just gave up. It's connected to DSL Modem with Ethernet To a Apple Mac G5 power PC There are two other older macs connected via Ethernet, same problem. When I took the router out of the chain, and connected G5 directly to modem, normal internet speed. My firmware is up to date. Both wireless bands work great. The E4200 broadcasts a wireless network.In my basement, I have a Wii / entertainment center. The E4200 signal from upstairs isn't strong enough to stream video.
I bought the WET610N and have successfully set it up to interact with the E4200 wirelss network. I can hardwire my laptop to the WET610N and verify the internet works greatHowever, the Wii must connect over wireless. I have other equipment in the basement which would benefit from an internet connection. So, I want to A) connect the ESXS88W 10/100 8-port workgroup switch I have to the WET610N *AND* also broadcast a wireless signal in my basement (assuming the wireless network I see in the basement is the same "old" one from upstairs which has not benefited from the WET610N).
How can I set up my WRT54G2 to broadcast a wireless signal in the basement so that it leverages the E4200 signal served by the WET610N, while also having the workgroup switch offer hardwired connections to my other equipment (like Dish Network receiver)? It doesn't seem to work by just plugging the WRT54G2 into the workgroup switch.

I started out installed on the CD and then I kept getting messages about not being set up and finally it kicked me out. So I started out with the basics, changing out ethernet cables and checking connections. I then tried cycling the modem, router, computer and still no go. As soon as I plug the modem straight back into the computer it kicks back on. So then I tried some other trouble shooting ideas on the forums with the last being MAC address clone, save changes, release renew IP, and finally another round of cycling and I still can't get it to work.
There is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I had a Linksys Wireless-G router for a long time and had very good luck with it. However, I ended up getting a couple of Wireless-N devices and wanted to get a different router. I bought the Linksys E3000. I got it home and set it up, and at first it worked. Then it would all of a sudden drop everything connected to it. I would restart the router, and in short order it would drop all connections again. This completely baffled me for awhile, until I actually touched the bottom of the router, and it was quite hot. I had it laying flat on a a table, so I could never understand why it was getting so hot. Anyway...I stood it up on it's side and it worked for awhile. Then it would randomly drop various things connected to it. The last straw was when I was listening to internet on the Apple TV, while viewing the internet on my PC and it started dropping the connection every five minutes. Anyway, I have now hooked my Wireless-G Linksys back up and it is working great.
is Wireless-N even needed? I live in a small place, so I don't need it to reach a long distance, and I don't transfer a tremendous amount of date wirelessly, so that doesn't really matter. Should I even try to fix this router? I looked on the Linksys page and I am running the newest firmware.
I have an e2000 wireless router and have several devices connected by ethernet cable including private data on an external hard drive. I am planning to allow a tenant in another building connect via an ethernet cable connected to my router. Can I limit that computer (tenant's computer) from accessing all other devices connected by ethernet cable to my router? I know can password protect wireless access and limit access to the internet that way -- but my question is specifically to connections by ethernet cable.

I am using wireless MAC filtering, and decided to pull up the list of connected wireless clients (Wireless >> Wireless MAC Filter >> push "Wireless Client List" button).Immediately after this the Web UI of the E1200 becomes inaccessible. It still routes traffic, and the router remains pingable, but it will not allow access to the Web UI for several minutes. The error that appears upon attempt to access the Web UI during this time window is similar to the above, but reads "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection."
I have tried this in Google Chrome, Firefox 4, and MSIE on two separate computers. Each browser displays the error a bit differently (MSIE, for example, just says it can't display the page and gives no further detail) but the net results are always the same. I have tried resetting the device to factory defaults in addition to re-downloading the firmware from the Cisco/Linksys website and installing it. No improvement.
I have also noted that the Log (Administration >> Log; and yes, I have it enabled) doesn't appear to be picking up anything at all. In fact, the Security log, which supposedly (according to the Help) "displays the login information for the Router’s browser-based utility," is also blank.
I have a E4200 setup for 2.4 & 5G running the latest firmware. When I connect to the router wireless 192.168.1.1 and log in, it takes a few seconds for the web interface to display. Same happens when switching to the different config tabs. Is there any reason for this? I would think it would be immediate but it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds for IE9 to respond.

It has happily supplied this to an Ethernet connected desktop, Ethernet connected Blu-ray player, and wireless connections to two seperate laptop computers. When I try to add one more Ethernet (wired) connection to the mix, I always run into problems. Although the router has 4 outgoing Ethernet ports, it doesn't like to do more than two. I can get an address on the computer and an old router by directly connecting the cable to the computer or the router. I can also daisy-chain the e3000 to the old router, and I can get an address on the e3000 from the old router. And it's not just the internet, I have a media server connected to it, and usually when I put something on it, the transfer rate is about 3.5MB/s (not bits, bytes). But everything is slow, I top out at speed of maybe 1/6 normal on the internet as well.

I used the e3000 router when we lived in town with broadband internet and it worked fine. I can't get it to keep a hold of a signal. I can connect to the router from the computers but the router drops the signal from the tower.
