View 1 Replies View RelatedI been using my WRT54G with no problems for 2 years now. I lost wireless. I have 1 pc wired to the router and it works fine, e-mail, accessing the internet, everything. But I have 6 wireless devices ( 2 PCs, a printer, Nintindo 3Ds, a laptop and a nook) that use the wireless part of the router at different times. Anyways, last night, one of the wireless PCs lost connection, not seeing the router. Then I checked with each of the other wireless devices. None of them see the router. I tried many different things: powering down the router for two hours, hitting the reset button for 30 seconds, I even uninstalled the router and re-installed it and ran the setup-wizard. Again the pc I have wired to the router works but none of the wireless devices can see the router.

View 9 Replies View Related My WRT54G lost the WiFi connection. I can get the internet if I connect the cable from my modem to my computer but my wireless connection is gone. So it's an issue with the router or settings. I called Linksys and was told the settings would have to be reset/updated. I was told there would e a fee. I did not want to pay a fee. I'd like to try to resolve myself.
I have a Mac laptop. Verizon ISP.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys Wireless Router, model WRT54G. I read in the user manual that it is best to turn off the router when not in use for better security measures, but there in no power button on the router. So does this mean that the power cord would have to be unplugged from the electrical outlet each time to turn the router off? This is kind of inconvenient, especially where my cord is plugged in. Also would unplugging it from the outlet each time, would this mess up the settings on the router? Is it really necessary to turn it off?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIve recently tried to update the firmware and everything went as instructed, then the power and LAN light went out. Now I have the indicator lights for the computer and modem, but thats is. No internet or SSID broadcast. I cannot log into or ping the unit, and have tried the hard reset many times, with no effect.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently set up a wrt54g router that I got used from a friend. I pressed the 'reset' button on the back, configured it for my computer according to the instructions on the website, and everything worked fine for a couple of days. Then I lost connectivity, tried powercycling my modem, but had to reset and reconfigure the router again. Worked fine again for a couple of days, then the problem repeated itself, so I reset and reconfigured again.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Wireless-G WRT54G router has a blinking power light and the startup software says "Unable to connect to the Router! Check that the Router has been connected to the computer, and that your Ethernet adapter is working." I tried uploading the firmware but I can't get to the router page to update. Is there a known problem or solution here or am I just going to have to find the router page?

View 4 Replies View Related I have many of these, many models and versions. I have a WRT54G v1, V1.1, V2....V8, I also have WRT54GS's WRT54GL's and others, Lots of other Linksys stuff, almost all of it in the Blue and Black boxes of varing sizes.I have a heck of a time when I reconfigure my network or the wife changes the furniture. I'd love a single document that lists the power specifications and adapter requirements for thens devices... I can't find them any where on the Linksys site. I Have looked and searched and nowhere can I find a consolidate list.
Any have a list of the DC power Specifications, Barrel sizes, and other stuff needed to buy a replacement Power adapter. This page url...lists a lot of information but does not list this critical information... I am amazed that Linksys does not have it listed some where here. Losing a wall wart should not be a reason to pull you hair out, just a simple purchase, If they don't want to stock them, then at least tell us what they are.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDropped VPN connections.I experienced a similar issue a few years ago with my LinkSys WRT54G router with dropped connections to my corporate network using the Cisco VPN Client. To make a long story short the problem was the result of the following:
1. The default ""Client Lease Time" on LinkSys routers is 0 which means 1 day or 24 hours.
2. By DHCP Protocol definition, DHCP clients must renew the DHCP client IP address lease at the 1/2 life cycle of the lease (12 hours if using the router's default setting). This is deadly for VPN clients as the short period of time when the client IP address is no longer valid, the VPN client considers this a loss of network connection. The LinkSys E-series routers further aggravate the situation by randomly assigning new IP addresses to DHCP clients instead of reassigning the client's previous IP address and tends to favor higher host IP addresses in the defined range.
Suggestions to prevent lost VPN client connections:
1. Change the "Client Lease Time" on the router to 8640 minutes (6 days 00:00:00).
2. Prior to establishing a VPN client connection, use the Windows Command Prompt to issue the "ipconfig /renew"
command to obtain a new IP address from the router that will be good for 3 days (72 hours).
3. Configure your E-series router to use the <DHCP Reservation> option to pre-assign IP addresses to your systems making sure they are outside the range of the dynamically assigned DHCP addresses. Using default settings, these would be in the range of 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 as the router starts at 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149.
I've seen related to flashing power lights on the router involve fixes via firmware upgrades off a PC.I'm on an iMac os 10.6.7. The WRT54 used to work as a wireless modem a couple of years ago. Tonight, it doesn't. power light blinks. Can't access any webpage interface for the thing. Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything. Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOur wireless network has started to drop out periodically. If we pull power and restore, the network immediately comes back up on all our our devices. We have the WRT54G, and we have 2 PCs, 2 Macs, and 3 iPhones, and a wired home phone. Normally there are not this many devices connected, but with everyone home for Thanksgiving and all these devices on the network we have started to see this issue.
Are there simply more devices than the router can handle? Is one of the devices crashing the network for everyone? What typically will cause something like this?
I have a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router which is having a daily problem of connectiing to the Internet on my home wireless LAN. My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?
I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem. My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. (all connected wirelessly)
I purchased a used WRT54G router that has DD-WRT firmware installed. I do not have the user name and password for it. How do I get around that issue so I can set the router up on my network. I would like to keep the DD-WRT firmware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a office that was converted from a older townhouse. The building has 3 floors with the distant of each floor expands no more than about 60 - 75 feet from end to end of the building. Not sure what's in the walls as the building is at least 20-25 years old. Total number of users is about 20 - 25.
Here is the problem..
I have a WRT54G wireless router setup to provide wireless coverage for this office, located on the 2nd floor, For some reason, about 10 - 15 feet from the opposite end of the building, the signal drops off big time. Regardless of the floor. So to assist with the signal, I installed a wireless 300N Gain extender on the same floor on the opposite end of the building where the signal was weak. At first, it seemed to work by boosting the signal, but then it seems to show the same issue as before.. sporatic signal loss, signal fluctuation, etc.
My question is should I replace the wireless booster with multiple wireless APs located throughout each floor... maybe 1 per floor? If so, is there a trick to configuring all 3 APs to have the same SSID and same encryptionsso it will be seamless to the users? Since the first AP works fine, I wanted to get 2 additional WRT54G units.
From what I understand, it requires a 5V 2.5A adapter ... alas, cannot find one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to connect to the internet a second, older tower using the WUSB600N ver 2 adapter, the unfortunate part is that I have lost my CD's that originally came with the adapter. I am on my primary machine right now so I am able to get online. I am wondering if there is a way that I can get the proper drivers or software, put them on a USB drive and then put them on the computer that I am trying to connect?I have already tried this, but I cannot seem to get the steps right or I don't necessarily know what I am doing. I am at the Linksys support Page [URL] and I have tried to do as I mentioned before, but I am sort of just expecting it to GO and its not working. The computer i would like to make the WUSB600N adapter for is running windows XP pro Service Pack 3?

I have 3 windows 7 computers but only one wireless g usb wireless adapter from tenda. I also have a linksys wrt54g wireless router that I can use.
I have tried to set up the router as a wireless bridge by loading a DD-WRT bin on my linksys but it seemed way buggy -results - I was only able to get 2 of 3 online and if I restarted any of them I lost the connection completely.
Went back to stock firmware and tried to set up a lan between the 3 towers with the linksys then just bridge the two connections on the main pc - results -no internet at all on 2nd and 3rd pc... and when the connection to the wifi network is started I loose my networking to the 2 pc's on the linksys.
Im not sure if im not setting these up correctly as im just following guides and such but since im fairly good with computers this is making me crazy...to be able to set three computers up on 1 good clear wifi should be an easy task but it's just not working out..
I'm finally upgrading my internet from my currently pathetic 1.5 mbps to a robust 20 mbps cable connection. It's getting installed over the weekend and my question is, should I try to place the modem close enough to my pc for a direct ethernet connection, or will wireless be fast enough to take advantage of the full 20 mbps? I have a linksys wireless-g wrt54g router. It says it's 54mbps so it should be far beyond my cable speed. My adapter on my pc is a Netgear WNDA3100-100NAR dual band usb 2.0 wireless N adapter that claims up to 300 mbps. So it seems like I should be able to achieve the same speeds wireless or wired, but really don't know much about networking other than basic router setup so wanted to double check. It will be a bit of hassle to try to route the modem into my computer room as I don't have any lines run there currently. If I place it by the tv and go wireless it's a lot easier setup.
