I was upgrading the firmware of the WRT54G router when the notebook´ screen closed and it went to standby mode. It was sttoped the upgrade process.Now only the ports and Internet LEDs light up, but the power LED is off.I also cannot connect to the navigator for show the administrator´s window. What is the procedure to recover the operation of the router in a situation like this?

I read in the user manual that it is best to turn off the router when not in use for better security measures, but there in no power button on the router. So does this mean that the power cord would have to be unplugged from the electrical outlet each time to turn the router off? This is kind of inconvenient, especially where my cord is plugged in. Also would unplugging it from the outlet each time, would this mess up the settings on the router? Is it really necessary to turn it off?

View 4 Replies View Related I have many of these, many models and versions. I have a WRT54G v1, V1.1, V2....V8, I also have WRT54GS's WRT54GL's and others, Lots of other Linksys stuff, almost all of it in the Blue and Black boxes of varing sizes.I have a heck of a time when I reconfigure my network or the wife changes the furniture. I'd love a single document that lists the power specifications and adapter requirements for thens devices... I can't find them any where on the Linksys site. I Have looked and searched and nowhere can I find a consolidate list.Â

Any have a list of the DC power Specifications, Barrel sizes, and other stuff needed to buy a replacement Power adapter. This page url...lists a lot of information but does not list this critical information... I am amazed that Linksys does not have it listed some where here. Losing a wall wart should not be a reason to pull you hair out, just a simple purchase, If they don't want to stock them, then at least tell us what they are.
I need fixing my router. I updated the firmware and it said the upload has failed ever since then:

The WRT54 used to work as a wireless modem a couple of years ago. Tonight, it doesn't. power light blinks. Can't access any webpage interface for the thing. Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything. Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?
View 4 Replies View RelatedOur wireless network has started to drop out periodically. If we pull power and restore, the network immediately comes back up on all our our devices. We have the WRT54G, and we have 2 PCs, 2 Macs, and 3 iPhones, and a wired home phone. Normally there are not this many devices connected, but with everyone home for Thanksgiving and all these devices on the network we have started to see this issue.

Are there simply more devices than the router can handle? Is one of the devices crashing the network for everyone? What typically will cause something like this?
I have a Linksys WRT54G2 v1 router which is having a daily problem of connectiing to the Internet on my home wireless LAN. My temporary solution is to disconnect the power from the router for about 15 seconds and plug it back in .... and all is well.... at least for another day or so.The real problem is that instead of properly connecting to IPv4 address 192.168.1.100 ..... it randomly connects to Autoconfiguration IPv4 address 169.254.29.54 When this problem occurs the SSID list shows both my 192 connection as well as a public network with no Internet connection?

I've used this router for several years without a problem until I recently bought a new Canon wireless MG5320 printer which initially had problems connecting to my LAN. After a telco with tech support the printer works fine but now I am now experiencing the Autoconfig address problem.My LAN consist of the WRT54G router, a Motorola cable modem, a Lenovo laptop running Win7 64bit, a Hp desktop running Win7 64bit and the Canon wireless printer. (all connected wirelessly)
I have a few devices at my home that connect wirelessly to the internet via wrt54g. I want to connect to the internet via VPN. I would like to find out if it is possible to connect WRT54G router to the VPN via PPTP or L2TP? The VPN company provided me with PPTP and L2TP credentials. I can access vpn via OpenVPN on computers but I would like my TV connect to the internet also via VPN.

My problem is that whenever 2 devices have joined the wireless network, I will not be able to do so despite placing the laptop or iPhone right next to the router, hence getting excellent signal strength. Or, if I am already connected to the network, I get knocked out repeatedly. I don't think it is a hardware or software issue because I'm still able to connect and get a very stable connection after someone leaves the wireless network.This is getting frustrating and I have tried all ways and means to resolve this but to no avail. Is this about some setting that I can tweak, e.g. to allow more users onto the network? But this has already been configured to '50'!
I could not log into any of the 4 FTP sites that I normally update without immediately getting disconnected. The message I am getting from the servers is "Port command failed, error loading directory - disconnected". To save some time and posts, here are the facts....1.) It is definately not my DSL modem. When I connect directly with the modem, without a router, I can connect to FTP fine2.) I have already done a /flushdns in IPconfig.3.) I have already done the typical power off/power on/reboot procedure numerous times.4.) I have already tried PASV mode, and tried turning PASV mode off as well.5.) My login information is correct, and I have problems on multiple sites.6.) This problem has been reported before by other users of WRT54G, but the other forums I see have no solution to the problem.7.) I have already tried using other PC's and different FTP clients on my home network. No matter which PC or laptop I use behind the router firewall, I can't maintain FTP connection. 8.) I have never had to open ports to be able to connect to FTP, since I am the one doing the request. I did also try opening ports 20 and 21. 9.) XP firewall is disabled. 10.) I have tried both ethernet ports on my PC. But then again, that is irrelevant because none of my other PC's which connect wirelessly, can connect either.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI my parents have a WRT54G linksys router, they have a DSL modem. Everything was working fine with the wireless network until one random day POOF! the wireless no longer would connect on laptops. However, the internet is working just fine with the computer that is hardwired up throught the router. Since this is working it lets me know that the router is working fine and routing the connection through hardwire. Hard wired works on laptops but all laptops are unable to join the network and most of the time it will not show up in the list of available networks.Even my iphone wont connect saying unable to join network. We bought a brand new linksys router and same problem. I then took his old router to my house and hooked it up...and WOW it works as it should all devices can connect...even my iphone.

My ipod detects the wifi network but when i select it , it asks for password. now i dont know which password is this bcoz everytime i poer on my computer or laptop i never type a password b4 accessing internet.. it is auto connected. i know the admin password for my router but that is denied by ipod to connect to internet. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am replacing a WRH54G with a WRT54G. Â First I unplugged everything and waited 5 minutes. Then I plugged my ethernet cord from the DSL modem into the WRT54G. Then I plugged in the DSL modem. I waited for the lights to stop blinking. Then I plugged in the WRT54G and waited for LEDs to show connection. Then I plugged the ethernet cord from the WRT54G to the computer. Then I turned on the computer. I was able to access the Interface for the WRT54G but I was not able to connect to the internet. I tried power cycling multiple times both the DSL modem and the WRT54G. I was unable to access the internet. Finally I plugged the WRH54G back in and everything worked fine. why the old WRH54G can connect to the internet and the WRT54G cannot?

View 1 Replies View RelatedChecked cable router (brighthouse), working. Router (all lights on but network traffic flashing indicates one way traffic). So I go to my wife's computer. It too has no connection. I open my laptop to connect to the wireless, IT WORKS! Pull power on Cable Modem and Router, wait 60 secs, power up Cable Modem and then power up Router (I know it wasn't nec to do modem but I wanted a clean start). Wireless is still working, no LAN. I can't even connect 192.168.1.1. Linksys software says it can't detect the modem. Reset time, hit the magic button in the back and sure enough everything stops working (which I figured). Still can't connect to it, and now I've lost wireless. I connect computer directly to Cable Modem and type this message. Seems to me that Router has failed.

I open the router using "admin", reset Wireless Security and reset my password. Wireless laptops, wireless camera now works fine but now iPhone will not connect? Now, the computer sees the router but it won't connect to the internet. I have other computers that connect fine, so I thought it was the wireless adapter in my computer. However, I went to someone else's house and connected perfectly.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe had a power outage the other day, and now the wireless router cannot connect to the internet. Network Magic shows there is no connection from the device to the internet. I tried repairing it through Network Magic but it wasn't able to fix it.

My PC is directly connected to the wireless device by LAN cable. If I connect the PC directly to my DSL router I can connect to the internet, but not if I connect to the wireless router and from there to my DSL router. I tried resetting the wireless router to factory defaults and then going to [URL] and resetting up the router security settings. But Network Magic still shows the bad internet connection.

I then tried resetting the router to factory defaults again and installing it from scratch using the setup CD but that failed as well. I'm not at home right now so can't remember exactly at which point it was but I think it was either when the setup wizard tried to detect the device or install the device.This is the second time I've had to reset up my router due to power outage. Last time I was able to get it working by doing the first steps above.
Due to some reason I had to reset my linksys router WRT54G and now I am not able to connect to internet using my router. I tried coupld of settings followings some suggestion over internet sites but doesn't work for me. Still I get no network access message.
