View 1 Replies View RelatedI been using my WRT54G with no problems for 2 years now. I lost wireless. I have 1 pc wired to the router and it works fine, e-mail, accessing the internet, everything. But I have 6 wireless devices ( 2 PCs, a printer, Nintindo 3Ds, a laptop and a nook) that use the wireless part of the router at different times. Anyways, last night, one of the wireless PCs lost connection, not seeing the router. Then I checked with each of the other wireless devices. None of them see the router. I tried many different things: powering down the router for two hours, hitting the reset button for 30 seconds, I even uninstalled the router and re-installed it and ran the setup-wizard. Again the pc I have wired to the router works but none of the wireless devices can see the router.

View 9 Replies View Related My WRT54G lost the WiFi connection. I can get the internet if I connect the cable from my modem to my computer but my wireless connection is gone. So it's an issue with the router or settings. I called Linksys and was told the settings would have to be reset/updated. I was told there would e a fee. I did not want to pay a fee. I'd like to try to resolve myself.
I have a Mac laptop. Verizon ISP.
I recently set up a wrt54g router that I got used from a friend. I pressed the 'reset' button on the back, configured it for my computer according to the instructions on the website, and everything worked fine for a couple of days. Then I lost connectivity, tried powercycling my modem, but had to reset and reconfigure the router again. Worked fine again for a couple of days, then the problem repeated itself, so I reset and reconfigured again.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDropped VPN connections.I experienced a similar issue a few years ago with my LinkSys WRT54G router with dropped connections to my corporate network using the Cisco VPN Client. To make a long story short the problem was the result of the following:
1. The default ""Client Lease Time" on LinkSys routers is 0 which means 1 day or 24 hours.
2. By DHCP Protocol definition, DHCP clients must renew the DHCP client IP address lease at the 1/2 life cycle of the lease (12 hours if using the router's default setting). This is deadly for VPN clients as the short period of time when the client IP address is no longer valid, the VPN client considers this a loss of network connection. The LinkSys E-series routers further aggravate the situation by randomly assigning new IP addresses to DHCP clients instead of reassigning the client's previous IP address and tends to favor higher host IP addresses in the defined range.
Suggestions to prevent lost VPN client connections:
1. Change the "Client Lease Time" on the router to 8640 minutes (6 days 00:00:00).
2. Prior to establishing a VPN client connection, use the Windows Command Prompt to issue the "ipconfig /renew"
command to obtain a new IP address from the router that will be good for 3 days (72 hours).
3. Configure your E-series router to use the <DHCP Reservation> option to pre-assign IP addresses to your systems making sure they are outside the range of the dynamically assigned DHCP addresses. Using default settings,these would be in the range of 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 as the router starts at 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149.
I purchased a used WRT54G router that has DD-WRT firmware installed. I do not have the user name and password for it. How do I get around that issue so I can set the router up on my network. I would like to keep the DD-WRT firmware.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a office that was converted from a older townhouse. The building has 3 floors with the distant of each floor expands no more than about 60 - 75 feet from end to end of the building. Not sure what's in the walls as the building is at least 20-25 years old. Total number of users is about 20 - 25.
Here is the problem..
I have a WRT54G wireless router setup to provide wireless coverage for this office, located on the 2nd floor, For some reason, about 10 - 15 feet from the opposite end of the building, the signal drops off big time. Regardless of the floor. So to assist with the signal, I installed a wireless 300N Gain extender on the same floor on the opposite end of the building where the signal was weak. At first, it seemed to work by boosting the signal, but then it seems to show the same issue as before.. sporatic signal loss, signal fluctuation, etc.
My question is should I replace the wireless booster with multiple wireless APs located throughout each floor... maybe 1 per floor? If so, is there a trick to configuring all 3 APs to have the same SSID and same encryptionsso it will be seamless to the users? Since the first AP works fine, I wanted to get 2 additional WRT54G units.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe only way I could get my EA6500 to work as auto DHCP to my Roadrunner Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard cable modem was to disable IPv6 support on the router. It appears that the EA6500 attempts to issue the DHCP request for address assignment from the modem using IPv6. I could see the status of "Connecting" for IPv6 in the Diagnosis Reports and it would hang. Once I disabled IPv6, the modem assigned an IPv4 address and everything worked fine. However, am I giving up any functionality by having to do this? I bought this router and the WUMC710 Universal Media Connector for the 5GHz connectivity for streaming and just wondered if I'm impacting UMC performance or any other functions of the router by having to disable IPv6.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy E3000 has been running for months without a hitch. Last night, it lost connectivity on the 2.4 GHz. I can connect on my laptop (Dell, XP) on the wireless 5 Ghz only. Wired connections (2 PCs and one video device) connect fine. All wireless equipment (laptops and LG DVD device needing 2.4 GHz) see the 2.4 GHz with good signal but will not connect. Of course, I rechecked name and passwords.
I tried the MSR restart and reboot several times, including turning things off overnight. Checked to be sure settings were not corrupted in setup.E3000 running firmware 1.0.04.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem: running a standard single band 2.4gz BT homehub. When using my xbox and wireless headset (razer chimeara) the xbox loses connection. When i tuen the headset off i no longer lose connection. This suggests to me that the headset is simply emitting on the same frequency and bullying the connection, thus the xbox disconnects I have purchased the wireless N adapter to allow the xbox to run on the 2.4 or 5ghz band. I am now looking for a duel band router to allow my xbox to connect to the 5gz band and hopefully this will rectify my interference issue with the headset. I have been lookijg at the e4200 as this supports seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz band, so the xbox can run on the 5ghz and the intererence from the 2.4ghz headset should subside - do you think this would work? Also, with the single ssid duel band routers, where 2.4/5gjz share the same ssid - how would my wireless N devices know to run on the 5ghz and not the 2.4?

1) I had no power loss;
2) I didn't reboot nor I didn't switch it off/on;
3) I didn't copied files since days;
4) The last time I used it I just browsed files;
5) It's not exposed to the internet but just to local network;
6) The router hasn't logged admin logon other than from my computers.
I used the CD to set up my new EA3500 with my Wild Blue Satellite internet modem.An IPhone or IPad can connect and work like a charm, remaining rock solid at all times. Windows 7 on the other hand, will work and then lose connection to the internet. The PC appears to remain connected to the EA3500, but the connection between the EA3500 and modem appear to be lost. I can click on the bar Icon at the bottom and it shows everything to be fine. I click on disconnect and then wait a few seconds and click on connect again and it works for a few minutes before having to do it again. When I look at the router properties the CD set it up for DHCP.
