Linksys Wireless Router :: Connecting E3000 To DIRECTV DVR?
Sep 12, 2011I want to setup a hardwired connection between my Linksys E3000 router and a DIRECTV DVR. I have the most recent firmware on my router. I have checked the ethernet cable and it is good. The lights on the ethernet port on the DVR light up when I have the DRV and router connecter. The DVR gives me an error message when I try to connect. Some other posts have suggest setting a static IP on the DIRECTV DVR using the following settings:
IP Address : 192.168.1.10
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1
DNS : 192.168.1.1
I tried this and still get an error message so I am going to call DIRECTV. Before I do call I would like to know if these are the correct settings for a Static IP?
Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 And DirectV Cinema Set Up?
Jul 9, 2012I have Verizon IP with a Westell 6100 Modem and a Linksys E2500 Adv Dual Band N Router, that seems to be having problem since hooking up our DirectV Cinema on Demand to it. It constantly drops the internet connection to BOTH the hard wired and wireless internet . The internet drops and returns every few seconds it makes connecting impossible. Any one have Manual connection instructions for this set up?

Sep 12, 2011Currently I have Verizon DSL and which supplied me with a Westell 7500 modem/wireless router. I am also connecting a Linksys WRT54GS (firmware Version: 7.2.08) to the Westell 7500.
When I connect via cable or wireless to Linksys WRT54GS I am not able to establish VPN connection. I get the error “Error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. So the port used for this connection was closed”.
However, when I connect via cable or wireless to Westell 7500 I am able to connect to VPN.
I tried resetting the Linksys WRT54GS to factory settings and reconfigured but no success to VPN.
At work we have a Windows 2003 setup with VPN Role on it and on my laptop I am using the built in VPN connection within Windows 7.

Oct 20, 2012I have a WRT54GS V7 that I have been running for a few years now with no problems until today.My wife used the internet from her laptop through the day but this evening after she moved to the bedroom and booted up the laptop, she found there was no internet connection. I tried what I know in cases like these, unplugging the router or modem for brief periods of time to try and get things going again but to no avail. So I tried using the Easylink Advisor which basically suggested the same process.
At this point, my internet connection is coming in from the cable just fine. I have access on the desktop which is wired and works with no problems. The modem and router lights are both signaling that everything is fine but no wireless internet coming from the router.
Using the desktop I tried looking for some solutions and tried resetting the router. I ultimately called customer support but being out of warranty they wanted too much although she suggested that I needed to reconfigure the router since I had reset it. I followed the online instructions for reconfiguring but still have gotten nowhere.
Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS Connection Reset During Firmware Upgrade
May 8, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54GS (v5) router. I noticed that my firmware was outdated and tried to upgrade it tonight. During the upgrade progress, the browser reset the connection and now cannot access my router configuration pages.I did a hard reset. Then I did the 30-30-30 reset.
The reset worked but no matter what I do, I cannot navigate to any readable page within the router. I get the log in box and successfully log into the router. However, the configuration page(s) are all jumbled and devoid of useful information. It almost looks like a web page that needs flash to be enabled. Lots of colors and boxes but no text or links to other configuration pages
I know it's an old router but it has served me well. I would love to reinstall the old firmware (or new!) and copy my saved configuration file back to the router.Is there a way to access the configuration via a command line interface?
Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gs Switch From Dsl To Comcast / Now No Internet Connection
Jan 5, 2011Hard wired network (15 workstations.) I had a dsl modem connected to my network switch and linksys wrt54gs router connected to that modem. All hard wired workstations had internet access AND there was a wireless internet connection. With any wifi device I could access the internet.I switched from dsl to comcast. All hard wired work stations still have internet. but when I plug my wireless router into the modem (comcast business IP gateway) there is no wireless internet connection. The hard wired workstations can still get online and there IS a wireless network, but it does not allow internet access (page cannot be found etc.)
Comcast says it absolutely should work. Linksys says it requires simple reconfig of router settings (reset router, clone mac address.) I have read knowledge base articles from linksys and followed each step. The lan ports of the modem are all working if I connect to them directly with a laptop and cable. I have reset router multiple times, cloned mac address, dhcp release/renew.
My physical connections are correct. In the router set up utility, I can see the mac adrdress and ip address but can't tell if the IP is from the modem or the router. Default gateway is always 192.168.1.1 in the router AND in any workstation ipconfig screen. Ip addresses are 192.168.1.xx in ipconfig at any workstation AND in the router set up status.
I cannot access internet via router even if plugged directly into it. It is as if the router is not getting the correct information from the modem. However, it worked perfectly with the DSL modem the day before we changed.My workstations are all hard wired and work. I simply want to have Wi-Fi also... for phones and laptops w wireless etc.
Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g - Regular Wifi Connection Failure After Updating To 4.21.5?
Aug 26, 2012I recently updated my WRT54G V3 to frimware 4.21.5 and now get regular wireless connection issues. The wired connection never has any problem (can connect to the router and the internet), but none of the wireless devices can see either.
The problem happens every couple of days, and cycling the power seems to be the only fix. When the problem does occur, the wireless devices don't even see the broadcasted SSID. But cycling the WRT54G's power fixes that.
I've gotten a few suggestions to do a "30-30-30" reset, but can't find exactly what that entails.

Oct 3, 2011I was in the Wireless tab>Basic Wireless Settings and then I clicked the "Reset Security" button. I don't know what that did but I've been completely shut out of my connection ever since and I don't know how to fix it. I tried doing the install sequence of the router just now (Clone MAC address, then release and renew DHCP, power cycle modem, router, and PC) but it still didn't work.

I've been bouncing around gathering info, and what I've learned is that the goofy way CenturyLink tech support told me to hook up my old wired router (modem line into outgoing (LAN) router port) is because the Westell 6100 is a "smart modem/router". Therefore, when I run the Linksys setup CD, it sees the modem as a router, and won't properly configure. I've also learned that the Westell modem can be "dumbed down" into simply a modem by putting it into "bridge mode", which is where I'm at right now - trying to get it reset to factory defaults and resetting the connection type from PPPoE to Bridge. In the meantime, I also reset the WRT54GS to factory defaults, and now I've got another problem: the router will not allow me to set up encryption. The default setting is "Disabled", and when I click the down arrow and try to make any selection at all (preferred selection is WPA2 Personal), it reverts to Disabled. I've also tried to change the router's IP address to 192.168.2.1 (and alternately to 192.168.1.253), so it won't conflict with the modem's IP, and it freezes up every time I try.

Feb 27, 2013I just purchased 2 AE3000 adapters to update my wireless network and cannot get either of them to connect to my wireless network through either of two computers I tried. It hangs for a while looking for address and then I get the 'limited or no connection' note. But yet when I plug in my old AE1000 adapter into either computer I get connected right away. I've looked under the device manager and it shows up there, the LED lights come on and I see my wireless network show up on available networks. I am using the windows wireless manager in lieu of the Linksys one and as such I don't think any specific drivers are being used. I bought two updated adapters to start with is to keep current and NOT have problems.

May 30, 2012I have a Vizio smart tv with built in wifi. I have Centurylink dsl service with a Westell 7500 gateway. All of my wifi devices, including my tv can access the internet appropriately. I also have a wii connected to my tv which can access the internet via wifi. My question is---is there anyway to setup an internet connection to my directv hd receiver using the wifi connection through my tv or wii? I really do not want to buy anymore equipment and I only have one phone line run with dsl service.

Without the switch, I can connect wired and wirelessly to my WRT54GS. However, when I put connect my any port of my D link switch to ports 1 - 5 of WRT54GS, I loose internet all together either wired/wireless to the router or wired to the D-link switch.I wonder why the IP Address will change as I understand that the switch is just a pass through switch.

Mar 23, 2012I will just explain my setup:
I have a ADSL Huwavi modem by my ISP installed at my place.. Now the wireless from that device is very bad.. So I purchased WAG120N to setup a daisy-chain kind of setup in my other bedroom. I also put another D-link DIR-600 in between to give a connection to the first floor (via Ethernet cable).
So my huwavi is the ISP device, then a LAN from it goes to the dlink internet (WAN) port. then one cable from the d-link LAN port to the LAN1 of WAG120N and another upstairs.
Now all of this was working perfectly.. I put same SSIDs and Pwds on both ISP router and WAG120N and i was getting seamless net..
Now yesterday we removed the ISP modem to do some shifting.. Upon reconnecting, the ISP modem, Dlink work as before, but the WAG120N refuses to connect to the net.. it shows DSL down and doesn't access the www.
What I felt is that since i changed LAN ports on my ISP device and dlink, the static IP settings on the WAG120N should be changed.. i modified it, set to to point to the dlink for internet and huwavie for DHCP.. yet nothings happening..
I even connected the WAG120N directly to the Huwavie, yet it fails to connect to the net..
Can't Connect To Internet Using Linksys Wireless Router WRT54GS
Feb 4, 2012i have been using a WRT54GS LINKSYS ROUTER for 2.5 years problem free until now. All of a sudden i cant connect to the internet through it at all. when i diconnect it and hook my desktop directly to the modem it works but i need the wireless to use my laptop. I have tried everything to get it working again, no dice. when using w7 diag tool it reports back local area connection doesnt have a valid ip config.

I have recently upgraded my router for my home network from an old Linksys WRT54GS G router, to a new E2500 N router. I have heard/read that it is possible to reconfiqure my old router to act as a range extender for my network but I am unclear how to do so. I think this may be the same thing as an access point, but all the FAQ's I've found seem to have this work as a solo device, not as a device on existing network. I have my e2500 setup with the modem in my study and broadcasting from there, and would like to use my old G router set up as a range extender to be located in the front living room area and picking up the network signal and rebroadcasting from there without a modem or computer attached.
