Losing Network / Internet Access Every Couple Of Minutes?
Dec 26, 2012
There are 3 laptops in my house including mine, and i keep losing network/internet access every couple of minutes so I have to go to the router, unplug the device, and plug the device back in every couple of minutes, usually 10-15, although it varies, and the same has been going on with the two other laptops, so it's not just my laptop.
My desktop is connected to the internet via cable modem, then to my laptop via network bridge between the LAN and wireless NIC, then through to the laptop via wireless ad hoc network.
The problem I'm having is that my laptop loses connectivity every 5 minutes, though it doesn't show a dropped connection. The desktop does not show any connections to the current network at anytime, however I still get connectivity on the laptop albeit only 5 minutes at a time.
I have, on both systems, disabled power saving for the wireless and wired connections; and also that they have the most current drivers.
It does not have to be idle to lose the connection either, I can be in the middle of something when it drops.
I just have recently been experiencing some dropping off the internet.. My phone company has been out here and has done tests, and changed out my wireless modem with a new one, switched me to a new high speed port.. cleaned up the cables outside my house.. installed a new jack.. and we have yet to solve this intermittent dropping and reconnecting... I am starting to wonder, if not anything else with my outside line.. is there something else causing the problem. I switched my channel from 11 to 9.. *my neighbor is on channel 11* thought maybe his was interfering with mine .I am using WPA, I have disabled the power adapter from "saving power" in the adapter settings..
When the internet does drop off the DSL light on the modem goes out, and then comes back on..its not blinking off and on, just off.. then waits.. then reconnects to the net, it's almost like it's refreshing or something every couple of minutes. The modem is a Siemens Speedstream 6520
my ping spikes to 1k+ all the time, making online games pretty much unplayable. Sometimes I'll lag up to 3k ms and by the time my ping is back to normal, the game is so behind it is messed up forever.I've looked online for days trying to find solutions, and trying all kinds of things. The problem started after i reinstalled windows xp (it actually started right after my power flickered after i reinstalled, but i think that may be coincidence. I'm not sure though.). I've reformatted since then, but the problem still persists.I think the problem might be WZC, but when I try stopping the program like other people have done, my wireless network disconnects pretty soon after. I've also tried just using the intel software, but that didn't work either. It was fine for a while last night after I changed to the intel software, but after maybe an hour or so it went back to lagging.I have Intel PROSet Wifi agn 5100 as my network card. I'm on a laptop. I also tried doing a ping test in command on my mom's laptop, and it never spiked like mine. Is my network card maybe just too old? I got the laptop almost 4 years ago.
I have 3 computers on the same modem--one is wireless, other 2 desktop. The one which is having problem is my office desktop. Can't stay online. Have tried many diffrent fixes and cleaned malware, etc to no avail.
When I try downloading from fileserve it starts downloading and after maybe 3-4 mb it stops for no reason also in JDownloader it starts and after 3-4 mb it says no permission to write to hard disk all other filehosts are working fine and all other downloads work perfect.I'm using ESET smatr security but I'm disabling Web access Protection and the firewall is set to learning mode so all attempts of any application to connect to the internet would be allowed
I have an issue with my current network where every couple of hours I will lose my connectivity and it will not come back unless I do a power cycle on my router/modem. I originally thought the issue was with my router, however I'm beginning to think it's an issue involving the modem. I've tried two different routers and this happens on both. My main router is a D-Link WBR-1310 (crap I know but it was free) and has lasted for years, and my modem is a Toshiba PCX2500 from Time Warner Cable. The second router I used to test this was an older Linksys BEFW11S4. I was going to replace my router, but when I saw that both of them reset after a few hours (today was only 5, last night it was connected for over 8 hours as I slept). I ran an IPCONFIG /ALL when I was connected with internet and when I was connected without and the only three changes were: [code]
ON WINDOWS 7 every 30 minutes or so i notice that "turn off network discovery and turn off file and printer sharing keeps resetting to ON" this is odd? i have to keep going and turning them off manually all the time.
I have recently purchased a RVS4000 router and am experiencing major downtime.Almost everyday the RVS4000 router losing internet connectivity. I noticed that when this happens I cannot login into the router from my pc which is connected to the RVS4000 network. The only way to restore connectivity is to restart the RVS4000 by disconnecting power and powering back up.The router's WAN is connected to my Cable modem. The RVS400 has two PC connected to it. (port 3 & 4) I have a Cisco 8-port switch connect to the RVS4000 with 3 additional PCs/devices on it.
I want to use cisco connect with the Router E1200. There is a wireless connection between laptop and E1200 Router. When I run the "Cisco Connect" after couple minutes searching It can not find the Router and I have to put an (Router name SSID) and password.
What could b the issue with my internet connection i keep losing the connection every few minutes if im idol on sites not games related i stay connected when i go onto games i start losing the connection. [code]
For the past 2 weeks i have been losing internet connection on my pc, ps3, laptops and phones every 15min and i have no clue what to do. It has never done anything like this.
We have a newer linksys router supporting 4 laptops, 2 desktops, 3 iphones, an ipad, an apple tv (also a smart tv, two wifi blu-ray players, but I'm less concerned about those devices). Everything is relatively new (1-2 years old). Most everything is turned on during the day but only a few things may be in use at a time. Many of my devices are loosing connection multiple times per day, my ipad is losing connection every 15 minutes, my apple tv takes a lot of finagling to connect (my level of tech expertise is basically me power cycling everything and prayer). Once my laptops get online, they tend to stick. It seems my apple devices lose signal more frequently.I've updated the firmware on the router and played with wideband settings and channel selection and haven't noticed much difference. I do see a lot of other wifi signals around me. The constant disconnecting has been going on for a couple of months. We have Comcast/Xfinity as our cable provider on 20/MB internet.
My team has installed a 1905 series router at one of our offices. It has been connected through lease line to our servers at our head quarters. When we start internet access it slows down and subsequently it hangs. When we log into the router and start verifying its configuration it hangs after some time. We have replaced the router but the other router is also behaving in the same way. the possible areas and settings I should look into including lease line connectivity.
I have noticed that I have to reset the power on my srp527 more and more often, at first I thought it may be a glitch with my service provider but this is now happening more and more regularly. The internet just goes off, the network still exists and all the lights remain on (both adsl lights stay on) all the computers on the network (3 computers) cannot access anything on the net. A simple power off/on of the router restores everything but surely you do not need to do this everyday?
My computer connects to an unscured wifi near my home and i have internet acces for a few minuets, then it just stoppes. Sometimes if i reconnect it will run for a few more minuets 5-10. I have tried two different computers with same results. about a month ago the connection worked fine. This just started recently.I can connent and access internet at other public places with no problem. It seems only this network i have trouble with, why?I am running XP on one, and Win 7 on other, same results.I have read alot of things and tried them all,
-resetting internet options - changing tcp/ip - system restore with no results.
The issue is Windows7 (notebook ASUS N61Ja connected through Wi-Fi) loses and can not find again network HDD storage (Western Digital My Book Live 3TB). Rebooting of the notebook works but after I close HDD folder window the issue comes back. The issue exists only with Wi-Fi connection. Everything is fine using LAN connection.
We are using a ADSL 827h in one of our sites. This router has worked fine until a month ago. Users are losing access to the internet overnight. The VPN tunnel stays connected, users are unable to get to any outside websites, i.e. Yahoo, google. We unplug the router and it comes back fine; until the next time.
I am connected directly to my modem. My isp is Verizon fios. my internet randomly freezes for a couple of seconds sometimes. mostly when im in game and on ventrilo i notice it. any idea why its really frustrating when im in game cuz i freeze and come back dead.
As mentioned in my topic title, I am losing my internet connection every 14.75 minutes for about 10 seconds at a time. I've tried another website (Tech Guy Support networking forum) and I've come to a dead end. I though maybe that a site more dedicated to networking. but in the interest of saving time and making sure I've got everything formatted correctly, I have a few pictures that will clarify what is going on as well.
I'm at wit's end with diagnosing the problem and I don't know what else to try to get my network to stop acting up. Finally, here is my detailed problem and all the steps I've taken to troubleshoot the network. [URL]. Here is a picture of my network setup for those who want to jump to a picture: [URL]
On C6500 series I have to create a separate community to send a SNMP trafic for a couple of gig interfaces. The user that will collect these informations has a Monitoring server and is only interested in monitoring traffic on those link and maybe pps.
I understood to create a an ACL pointing to his IP of the server, and that create a community and associate this access list with that community. Those commands I have, but I need to send the user the MIBs or other relevant info on how to collect and forbid everything else but thos interfaces.Do I need to give the SNMP HOST command and associate with this community after that.
This is my second post today trying to fix the NAT types for my 2 xbox 360. I tried the port forwarding method but with this router when I enable the ports I lost internet access in my wired devices but my wireless devices still have internet access. I even lost internet access on my computer. I never had manu problems with a router trying to get my NAT type open on my 2 xbox.
I have a Linsys E3200 router for almost a year. It's been working fine until recently. It kept losing internet connection every a couple hours or even shorter. I have to power cycle the router in order to make it to work. However, sometimes that won't work either. I also tried to restore the router to the factory default but that doesn't seem to work.
I have updated the router with the latest firmware (1.04). I am using a cable connection and it never gives me any problem if I just connect my computer to it. I also test my network with another old netgear router that works just fine.
I have a problem with an internet connection with a customer. They have a Zyxel 660 in bridge mode and the public ip is delivered to the eth0/0 outside interface of a 5505 ASA.They lose internet connectivity a couple of times per hour. What solves the problem immediately is disconnecting the ethernet cable from the eth0/0 and then directly plugging it back. Then it runs for 20-30 minutes or so.The isp doesnt't notice any errors on the dsl connection, only that they cannot ping the outside interface from time to time (duhhh)However, yesterday, when problem appeared for first time , I noticed that this Zyxel was very hot since it was placed on top of the ASA. Now it is set apart. In the meantime I already replaced all cables, but I think it's the Zyxel so I urged that the ISP send a new Zyxel.Though it sounds strange. [code]
I have a problem with my home network (diagram attached below). I sporadically lose connection between my Router and the devices behind the switch. I have replaced the Ethernet cable between the 2 so I don't think the problem's there. It will work for a week or so, then just lose the connection. I then try a combination of rebooting all of the devices on the network and/or unplugging and re-plugging the cable connections and sometimes that works. It's a relatively new router, but can a router be "underpowered" for pushing a signa
My connection is up for a minute and then goes off for a minute. I don't think it has anything to do with the router itself as my room mates' laptop works just fine.
I just bought pc anywhere software, after instalation in my host pc and laptop(remote) it work very well when I used it in the same network in my Rv camping ground where I have a mobil router with a Verizon broad band card.Later when I come back home where I have a cable internet with a router, I tried to access the host pc but after several minutes trying it said cant find host pc.
just today, my PC's connection will work for 10 minutes then totally shut down. Although it still says it is connected nothing will connect. Im posting from my old laptop and obviously is still working with my internet.
