Home Network :: Losing Connection On Part Of Network?

Nov 27, 2012

I have a problem with my home network (diagram attached below). I sporadically lose connection between my Router and the devices behind the switch. I have replaced the Ethernet cable between the 2 so I don't think the problem's there. It will work for a week or so, then just lose the connection. I then try a combination of rebooting all of the devices on the network and/or unplugging and re-plugging the cable connections and sometimes that works. It's a relatively new router, but can a router be "underpowered" for pushing a signa

Home Network :: Using A Netgear WG602 Wireless Router - PC And Iphone Randomly Losing Connection?

Jun 2, 2011

Currently using a netgear WG602 wireless router which i use to connect to my 2nd PC and Iphone, with the Netgear router running from my main PC.I have recently been having trouble with my 2nd PC ad Iphone randomly losing connection and the only way for the connection to be reastablished is to reboot the wireless router. Once rebooted i am able to connect again to the internet with no problems, interestingly enough my main PC never loses connection. Also sometimes when i lose my connection and reboot the wireless router i will have a IP conflict pop up on my 2nd PC however i would i say i get this once in every 10 dissconects and not all the time. Sometimes i won't dissconect at all in a day but sometimes i may dissconect 5-6 times.

Losing Connection - Wireless Network Connection 2 Does Not Have A Valid IP Configuration?

Nov 15, 2012

I have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".

IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.

Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".

Laptops Losing Connection On My Office Network?

May 17, 2011

I have 2 older xp pro tough books that connect to my domain via a pair of versa vx 400 access points. automobile technicians use these computers to communicate with cars via a separate wireless card and WiFi device (SPX MVXI) that broadcasts a wireless signal.they always connect just fine to the network but sometimes they drop there connection and don't rejoin which screws up my scheduled tasks (nightly upload). They will reacquire the connection every time if i select it again manually in the windows wireless config.here is what I have done so far

1. set up exclusion range in DHCP distribution on my DC

2. set the laptops up with static IP's within the exclusion range.

3. configured the laptops to auto connect to the network even when its not broadcasting

4. set the access points on channel 7, and the devices on 1 and 11.

I have done a lot of research on this issue, a rep from versa told me that Intel proset wireless isn't very compatible with there product which i this is BS since it does the same with with the netgear WiFi PC cards.

Network Computers Losing Connection After Going To Sleep

Jun 15, 2011

I have three computers on my network. Two are wired and one is wireless. I continually run into the probably of getting a limited connection after the computer goes to sleep and I wake it up. I attempt to automatically correct it, but this doesn't work. I try to use the command prompt with ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew and it doesn't work. Then I try to disconnect the adapter and it doesn't work. I also reset the modem and the router with no resolve. Most of the time the only thing that works is restarting the computer. In addition I do use DHCP static addresses for the computers on the network. What is causing this and how do I fixt it without restarting the computer?

Dell :: XPS 8500 - Losing Network Connection

Sep 29, 2012

I am having a very frustrating problem with my new Dell XPS 8500's wireless connection - Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz). Basically, I am losing my network connection every couple of minutes. The process goes something like this:

1) Not connected - Connections are available

2) My network disappears completely (yet all other local networks are still visible) for a matter of seconds then reappears

3) I try to connect and receive "Windows was unable to connect"

4) I press "Troubleshoot problems"

5) "Resolving problems", "Resetting network adapter", "Troubleshooting has completed"

6) Problem with wireless adapter or access point - Fixed

7) I am reconnected to the network/internet with a full 5 bars

8) Process repeats itself five minutes later

I have been able to come to a conclusion that is not the adapter, or the router, but some sort of compatibility issue as:

a) I have tried connecting to a different wireless network and it has worked fine

b) There are other systems in the household that connect to the network and are not experiencing the same issue

It is not a distance issue as router is 2 meters away from the adapter with nothing in between, the other systems that use the network are much further away.

What I have tried so far: - Changing the channel from "Auto" to a set number

The router is a Belkin N300 Wireless N.

Dell Pe2950 - Losing Partial Network Connection?

Jun 28, 2012

We are running Sharepoint 2007(sp3 and wss sp3) on a dell pe2950 running Server 2003 std x64 sp2, 4 146gb 15k sas raid 10, 16gb ram, dual xeon 516 3ghz. the network card is a quad port intel 1gb pci-x server nic. Was running broadcom net xtreme dual port onboard, and had the same issue.

We are losing partial network connection, after about 14-15 hours of the machine working correctly. What happens is that it cannot ping, or access, any machines not on the same network segment(this machine is on 192.168.3.* and cannot access machines, or be accessed from 192.168.2.*, 192.168.4.*, etc, etc). what i have found is that when i try to ping 192.168.2.210(our dns, dhcp server). its times out about 20 times and replies 2-3 times, and then repeats the cycle all over again. i have done a winsock reset on the machine, and sometimes it starts back up and works again, sometimes it doesn't.

Dell :: 1520 Inspiron Keeps Losing Network Connection

Oct 12, 2012

I have an Inspiron 1520 which, approximately once per day, is losing the network connection. Basically I can be right in the middle of something then all of a sudden anything internet related (eg browser, email, skype, other software) stops working, and then a few seconds later the little globe disappears from my network icon at the bottom of my screen.

The only way to get my connection back is to reboot my computer. I've tried the "repair connection" tool, but that doesn't work. I've tried waiting, but that is futile (and impractical)

This happens whether I am directly attached to the router via cable, or I am going through wireless.

Other devices are unaffected at the time. It is only my computer that loses the connection. The two phones, two other laptops, desktop and tablet all remain connected. (Hmmm - I seem to have far too many devices!)

Do I have a failing part? Or is this maybe a software issue? I'm thinking perhaps it is software because after a reboot everything returns to normal and the problem tends to go away for 24 hours or so.

However, the problem is, the exe file tries to connect to the local host ip address 127.0.0.1 and i cant change the ip since it's been coded. So, I'm wondering if i can use the device connection (which already has a different ip like 169....) as a local host connection. So whenever it tries to connect to the loopback 127... it automatically connects to the external device.

What happens is that all our computers lose the internet connection from one moment to the next while the signal strength remains unchanged. when you try to sign back into the home network it is basically impossible. When rebooting the BT router it works, sometimes for a few moments only sometimes it lasts.I am wondering if the reason is that the computers are losing their ip address or has it something to do with the security key?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 1721 / Change Remote Site Network Configuration With / Without Losing Connection?

Sep 19, 2012

My company just assumed management of a remote entity.  The network has several misconfigurations and I need to make some network modifications from my office w/o losing access or incurring lengthy outage to the clients.  The network consists of 1721 router and  three 2960 switches.

- I only have access to the router from the Internet.  I telnet off the router to the 3 switches.

The site uses a single class C 192.168.1.0 / 24.  The router is running RIPv2 even though this is the only network.  The prior network person (contractor) set up separate native vlans on each switch and all the ports are defined as Native trunk and access are defined to the VLAN interface  assigned to the switch.  So of course the logs are flooded with Native VLAN mismatch,  Each 2960 switch is a VTP server but has no VTP domain.

basic network layout:

Internet  => Eth [Cisco 1721] => Fa 0 192.168.1.254  ==> [SW1]
 [SW1]
 interface Vlan1
no ip address
no ip route-cache!interface Vlan220ip address 192.168.1.219 255.255.255.0no ip route-cache

[code]....

!interface GigabitEthernet0/1description SW2 Gi0/1switchport access vlan 204switchport trunk native vlan 204!interface GigabitEthernet0/2switchport access vlan 204switchport trunk native vlan 204!interface Vlan1no ip addressno ip route-cache!interface Vlan204ip address 192.168.1.224 255.255.255.0no ip route-cache Normally, I would assign the current 192.168.1.254 to a subinterface to Router Fe 0/0 but with each switch having its own native VLAN I am afraid I will lose connectivity to the downstream switches -- my only access is telnet off the Cisco1721 Router.

Home Network :: Advanced Home Network Setup (3 Subnets) And Port Forwarding?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:

- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface

Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.

- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.

- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.

Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.

Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)

Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

Unable To Link PC To Server On Another Part Of Network

May 26, 2011

I am having linking a computer to our SBS server. The computer in question is set in a warehouse on our site. We have a leased internet connection which is used on a number of different offices. The sbs-server has an IP address of 192.168.50.254 with a gateway Ip address of 192.168.50.1. The firewall on this network has an external IP of 10.50.0.37 with a gateway of 10.50.0.254 and this links to the leased line equipment. The external IP address for this network is 62.7.70.237. The PC in the warehouse has an IP address of 192.168.0.2 attached via a router to the leased line. The routers Ip address is 192.168.0.1, the external IP address is 10.50.0.55 and a gateway of 10.50.0.254. This links to the leased line and seems to have an external Ip address of 62.7.70.238. My issue is that I want the PC in the warehouse to be able to connect in some way to the SBS-Server. I cannot seem to access it via the external IP or the gateway (10.50.0.37).

I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired. I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.

Is this possible? If so, what would I need?(Other than a crossover cable and router)Side note: I'll be sharing this connection to a wireless router - so I'm hoping to basically relay the connection that way.I know it is possible to buy extenders that extend the range of wireless connections, but this is where the restrictions come into play...-We are not able to network these computers on the wireless network, as we do not manage it and have some quite strict privileges.-The router will also be used to share a hard drive via USB.

Home Network :: How Best To Share A CAT5 Connection

Dec 30, 2011

For the purposes of a high def throughput, I have a wired connection from the router to a Windows Media Center appliance in a separate room. However, now I have a second media appliance (Roku device) that I want to run in a wired fashion as well. Here is the thing, I don't want to run a second Ethernet line from the router to new roku device. Is there some way I can share the existing ethernet line between the roku device and the media center appliance? Ideally, since the two devices would never be used at the same time, I was hoping some other network device (another router?) could be hooked up to split the line between the devices. Worst case, is there some simple splitter I can use? Obviously I am trying to avoid the worst case scenario: switching the ethernet connection manually between the two devices every time I want to go from one to the other.

Home Network :: Wireless Connection Sharing Over Ethernet?

Aug 11, 2012

I'm sure this may appear to have been asked before but I've scoured the Internet and can't find anything exactly applicable to the setup I'm trying to achieve. I had a sky ADSL connection in my living room that had my tv, ps3, NAS and netbook wired in. I've since changed to a sky fibre connection but this had to be installed in the master phone line which is upstairs. This obviously isn't a problem for all of the wireless devices around the house including the netbook and ps3 in the living room. The NAS and TV are still wired to the old router so can see each other with no problems. Any pc trying to connect to the NAS can just switch to the old router via wifi if desired. The only problem I have is that the TV can no longer access the Internet.

I initially tried to use ICS on the netbook (it's left on permanently) - it's wired to the old router and wirelessly connected to the new one. This appeared to be working for a while but is no longer playing ball. I've tried bridging the connections and the tv and NAS both had Internet access but it's very sporadic. Is this a reasonable setup or should I be looking for another solution? I can specify a manual ip, subnet and default gateway on the tv if necessary - I was going to point it towards the bridge's gateway but I don't know about IP?
