View 2 RepliesIs it possible to insert a Netgear wireless router b/g 108Mbs into a running 2008r2 network, making it a slave to allow wireless access?
At the moment the menu is only accessible thru 192.168.0.1, but I need to have it visible as a device subservient to 10.151.48.1? If this is possible, I can set it up to do a SSID broadcast for wireless access?
Will Tomato retain all current settings on my router, or will I have to set it up again from scratch? If from scratch, is there an easier way to ensuring I get all my custom configurations, then from going screen to screen and writing it down? I do periodically back up the config - will Tomato recognize that file?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'am using a modem/router to conncet my lan to internet. unfortunetly it is impossible to switch off the router of my modem. So i connect my RVS 4000 on the modem/router and i assign it static ip 192.168.1.10 as my modem has 192.168.1.1. i disable the DHCP function on my RVS 4000. I m still using it because of its gigabit ethernet capability.
My problem is i am unable to connect to my RVS from the outside. inside the LAN no problem I just use its STATIC IP. I have a NAS on this LAN. I write a NAT/PAT rule in my modem/router to route HTTP and FTP and the port for the interface to my NAS. It's just working smoothly. But not for my RVS. I have checked the remote management and translate the traffic incoming on this port to the same port on the 192.168.1.10.Unsuccessfull !!. ok that can't be considered as external traffic.so I disable remote management and all the protection firewall, DOS,BLOCK WAN REQUEST. I route the HTTP port 80 to port 80 192.168.1.10. I try to connect to /home.htm....unsuccessful !!
I just installed Tomato firmware (details below) on my wireless-N router and everything appears to be working fine on the router's end. I can connect to the Internet properly with a wired (Ethernet) connection; in fact, that's how I posted this question.
What I cannot do is connect to the router wirelessly in any way. At first, I thought that something was wrong with my wireless security settings, because I read about some incompatibilities between Windows 7 and AES encryption. However, when I changed to TKIP, the issue persisted; when I switched from WPA2 Personal to WEP, the issue persisted; and when I disabled wireless security entirely — just for testing purposes — the issue still persisted.
My Internet search for this issue brought up a lot of old forum and mailing list posts, most of which were useless. The only one that seemed promising suggested disabling Afterburner, but that came disabled by default on my install. I did try enabling it and then disabling it, but it had no apparent effect.
In case it's relevant: before I installed Tomato, I had a somewhat funky install of dd-wrt on the router. The first thing I did after installing Tomato was a full clean of the nvram through the web GUI's Administration → Configuration → Restore Default Configuration menu.
What do I have to do to get wireless running? I only have one computer available at the moment, but I'll try to update later if and when I can borrow more devices for testing.
Assorted specs:
Linksys WRT160N v3
Tomato Firmware v1.28.9054 MIPSR2-beta K26 Mini
Linux kernel 2.6.22.19 and Broadcom Wireless Driver 5.10.147.0 updates
EDIT:This is a computer issue, not a router issue. Two smartphones with wi-fi connections and another computer are all able to connect to the wireless network with no problems. However, the original computer was able to connect to the same router just fine before Tomato was installed. It has an internal wireless-B/G card, and I had Tomato set up to broadcast G-only, so it should have been compatible.
EDIT 2:The computer in question was the only device in the house that wasn't set up for wireless-N, so I went out and bought a Wireless-N USB adapter and changed Tomato to be N-only. Using the new adapter, I get connection again. I suppose it's possible that the computer's OEM internal wireless card failed at exactly the same time that I installed Tomato on the router, but that would be one heck of a coincidence. I'll see if I can connect to some other G or B network next time I'm around one....
we have a new IBM Bladechassie with two Cisco nexus 4001i switches.I have configured one external port on each nexus and connected them to a cisco 6509 with 1G cisco SFP-modules and MM fibre. Both the nexus and 6509 ports are configured as trunk ports, and set speed to 1000.I see light in the SFP-modules on both devices, and through the fibre. When I connect the devices, the link doesn't come up. No light on the ports, the nexus says "link not connected", and the 6509 says "notconnect". I have tried reconfiguring the ports in many ways, even as accessports, nothing seems to work. If I move the SFP and fibre from the 6509 over to a trunk port on a cisco c2960-24TC-L, the link comes up and everything is working fine. why this work on a 2960 and not my 6509 coreswitch? One of the configs I've tried on the 6509:interface GigabitEthernet2/20description *IBM Bladechassie 2 NW1*switchportswitchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport trunk native vlan 34switchport trunk allowed vlan 34switchport mode trunkend
Nexus config (works with 2960):interface Ethernet1/15 switchport mode trunk speed 1000
6509 ios: 12.2(33)SXI3
6509 SFP module: CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP / WS-X6724-SFP
My motherboard ethernet port went bad, so I purchased a Netgear GA311 ethernet card. The issue is that Win7 wouldn't natively add driver support, though reviews indicated this card might be plug & play. Not so, and the driver disk even though it has 64 bit drivers will not run the install program at all. On top of that, the ethernet card does not appear in the Device Manager so I can backdoor the drivers into place.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my RVS-4000 configured using static IP addresses in the LAN configuration. The users use DHCP to get their addresses (for the most part, a couple may have static IPs set on the computer). I have the maximum number of DHCP users set to 1 to restrict the ability of people to log in to the system. That one address is locked down.
Almost daily one or more of the users will lose their IP address and a hard reset of the router is required. The user this happens to seems random and it may be more than one but seldom all of them. The network includes Windows7 (Home & Pro), a FreeNAS, Macs (Leopard and Snow Leopard) and an AirPort Extreme used as a WAP (DHCP is disabled). The AirPort is plugged directly into the router and has a staic ip on the RVS-4000 but is set to DHCP. It seems to be the most common problem child.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI picked up a WRT54G 3.1, installed Tomato 1.28, and went through the instructions here to setup WDS: [URL]. As soon as I hit SAVE, I can no longer access the router, wired, wirelessly, or any other way shape or form. I'm sure i didn't change the IP address on the router (thus changing the admin local URL), I've tried going with HTTPS but was pretty certain that wasn't the issue anyway.Right now, I've got a chunk of blue and grey plastic on my desk, and no extended network. My plan was to use this to extend the Time Capsule network so I can plug my XBOX into the WRT54G in another room. In any event, if it were only network config I was dealing with, but how in the heck can I connect to the Tomato admin on the WRT54G now?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a better connection in my detached garage. I'm currently using the built-in WiFi on my laptop getting. My signal is decent (50%) but internet gets laggy (at some points unusable). My current router is a WRT54GS v4 with Tomato and signal output at 92 on a unused channel. I was intending on getting WRT54GS v2 to use as my router and the v4 to use as a bridge then plugging in the laptop directly into that. Could it be possible my router is going out or just plain doing to much? I have a BEFRS41 to do routing duties so the 54GS can stick to WiFi.

I know it has to do with the configuration of the printer.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a Cisco RVS 4000 to test a new 10M/10M internet connection. I'm having a small problem performing the ISP's speed test (speedtest.cavtel.net). The download test consistently gives me 10Mbit/s, full speed for the connection, however the upload speed is usually about 5.5 Mbit/s. My ISP has been onsite and has checked the lines and tested directly, and we have determined that if connected directly we can test to full upload speeds, but when the RVS is connected, we cannot get full speed.
We've tried different cables, reseting to factory defaults, updating firmware, changing port settings, and toggling most of the other setting on the router. Some settings do have a minor effect on the upload speed, but nothing that gets me back up to 10Mbit/s.
I did notice that there appears to be no way to set speed and negotiation settings on the WAN port. Perhaps I am missing it, because that seems like a possible culprit.
Otherwise, the only only thing I can think of is a warranty return to determine if the unit itself is defective.
I have a newer N Router (Dlink DIR-655) and the wireless signal coming off of it, just isn't strong enough. I was planning on using the WTF54GL to repeat the signal and inturn increase the coverage area. I've installed the latest version of Tomato on there (v1.28) and have gone through setting it up as a wireless client, wireless ethernet bridge (which works for picking up the wireless signal and then plugging something in via ethernet has internet), access point, access point + wds and just wds. None of which I can get to seem to properly repeat the wireless signal with internet connectivity. I have both routers set to G only channel 6, WPA Personal, Is this even possible? Or do I need a router that can run the tomato firmware on the main (host) router that is connected to the net?
View 1 Replies View RelatedCurrently I have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wireless router running tomato 1.28. The router sits in the basement in the front corner of the house. The signal is actually very good from the basement, but only on the side of the house where the router is sitting.
Is it possible to add a second router to extend the wireless? I would want to have the second router connected via Cat6 instead of wireless. I would probably go with a WRT54GL.
I recently purchased a rvs 4000 wired linksys router for my business. Everything works great with the exception of my VOIP PBX server. I can receive a call and make a call one at a time. If a second line rings in and is picked up the first call and the second go dead air. I am sure that it is a security setting somewhere that I just can't seem to figure out. I sure would like to get some direction on this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Swann Communication security camera system with their DVR8-4000 hooked to an IPv4 router, connected to the Internet using the new HughesNet Gen4 service. The Swann DVR wired to my router requires a static IP address. HughesNet Gen4 is implemented with IPv6 and I am told that it does not accommodate an IPv4 type static address.
I have discussed the issue with both company’s technical support. HughesNet Gen4 reps recognize the issue and may support static addressing in the future, but not now. Swann reps will not modify their implementation because of the relatively small Gen4 market. The Swann rep suggested that replacing my IPv4 router with an IPv6 router might resolve the “static IP address” issue.I am looking at several Linksys IPv6 routers including the EA4500 SMART WiFi Wireless Router N900, but know too little about IPv4, IPv6 and router/static addressing to proceed unassisted.
1) can I implement a static address with an Linksys IPv6 router cdonnected to Gen4?
2) Which Linksys routers offer IPv6 support?
3) How does one go about setting an IPv6 static address using HughesNet Gen4 on a Linksys router?
