I set a password and everything on my n300's Netgear Genie, but every time I go to routerlogin or 10.0.0.1, it just shows me the full control panel and never prompts me to log in. Isn't security a bit too lax over there? I even click log out and it says i logged out, then I re-visit and I'm always automatically logged in.
View 3 RepliesHere is the setup: A US Robotics USR-9108 router is connected to an ADSL modem via ethernet cable. The modem, upon connecting with the ISP, provides a gateway address of 192.168.1.1 to the router. End-users including me connect to the internet through the router via WiFi and are assigned the IP 192.168.1.2...192.168.1.255.
When disconnected from the modem, I can access the control panel via 192.168.3.1 but once the ethernet cable is plugged in I cannot access the above-mentioned IP; connecting to 192.168.1.1 opens up the modem's control panel. Any possible way to access the router control panel while it is connected to the internet?
I can not get to my control panel. I have tried 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.0.1,. I do have it flashed with DD-wrt. I can access the internet with it, the lights look correct, I don,t believe it is bricked. I have tried hard reset and soft reset.

I can not remember how to go into the control panel and configure settings so the OS will detect my wireless network or should i say i can not get my OS to detect my NIC so i can to connect to my wireless network. I think i may need to install the device driver for the NIC but i don't remember which driver i need for the NIC of my laptop and i can not find it on the Toshiba website, not supported anymore.

I am struggling to get a printer added through the print server. The printer is set up in the TP-Link USB Printer Controller and selected as the auto-connect printer. I can scan through the server, but can't add the printer in control panel or see it as a option when printing. The printer is a Samsung SCX-340F.
When I first installed my wireless router a few years ago, I did it with my old computer which has Windows XP as its operating system. It is on this computer that the Linksys "admin control panel" is installed, which allows me see what computers are connected through the router, see what the settings of the router are, etc. I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows 7 as the operating system. As I transfer programs and documents from my old computer to my new computer, I have run into the problem of how to transfer the Linksys "admin control panel" from my old computer to my new computer. The original installation CD for Linksys won't work with Windows 7 so I don't even have that as a starting point. I tried going to the web-based admin site, but can't access it from either computer.

They replaced it with an RCA (Thomsen) which worked great for about 3 months.Now (3/13) I am losing my connection at least once a day.I started to download the new Netgear Firmware update, but in the middle of that, you guessed it, the connection dropped. So now my router is useless. There's probably a way to reset it, but I haven't found that yet. And so far the Netgear phone # is locked inside the router somewhere! I'm hard-wired to the RCA modem now, so we'll see. I have a feeling, after reading the previous thread, that my connection will be fine.I have my own cable modem, needed for a previous cable provider, and a new Netgear N600 2-frequency router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new Netgear N300 router to go along with the Mediacom cable internet I just signed up for. I can plug the ethernet cable straight from the modem into my computer and get internet. Unfortunately this only works after I run the windows diagnostic to correct the errors that wont allow me internet access (unable to connect to IP address, lack of DNS server) but eventually I get access. The instruction then tell me to run the ethernet from the modem to the router and then another cable to my computer from the router. When I do this, I lose all internet access. I thought I just had to instal the router using the provided disk but it never gets past the internet connection test.I have tried to provide the correct IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and dns servers like requested but clearly I am messing something up.

I replaced my bog standard belkin 54g router (which never dropped out, never lagged), you just plugged it in, stuck your isp settings in and away you went. Not the same story with this netgear, it promises to give you a better connection in game, but since installing it, all games lag, my laptop is slow browsing, it is getting to the point where we cannot game at all and I am giving up waiting for websites to load! View 6 Replies View RelatedI got 3 windows 7 pc's at home. IP V6 and IP 4 are enabled. I setup my wireless system and it worked 100%. After 3 months I add a LAN cable to two of my PC's. This is when it all started. My internet browsing became very very slow. When i shutdown the one machine it become fast again. I did the following. Pulled the LAN cable and it was still slow. I then put the cable back and disabled the Wi-Fi and it still was very slow. I rested the defaults and restored my old backup and it still slow. Now I can get any access to the internet any more. I the disconnected the netgear router and take a cheap router with only LAN ports and it work 100%. All the above i did with many router and server reboots.

I am using a DLink router but for some reason I am getting some weird issues.
First of all, after using the netgear usb adapter, my mac address is something like E0-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx with the xx being the other numbers. Is having a macaddress starting with E0 wrong? All the other 5 devices on my router have mac addresses starting with 00.
Secondly, I am getting a 169.xxxxxx ip address. This is really starting to bother me because I can't set it up using DHCP.
How do you connect two routers together to increase signal through the whole house? I am trying to use the n300 as my main router (its hooked to cable modem) and use the 2wire as an access point.The two are connected by a known good ethernet cable.

He wants to connect one to the internet in a home. The other would go out to his shop and he would like to get the internet out there too. He would also like to access the internet wirelessly with a laptop at either end. He has a wireless laptop setup and it works. The shop is line of sight with the home with no obstacles. A wire will not be able to connect one wireless router with the other due to terrain features. His laptop can get the internet from the Linksys (the Linksys is set up in the home) while he is in part of the shop, and he is trying to increase the range so that he can move to another part of the shop.

I noticed in the router settings that the internet port had no ip address, as in it was just 0.0.0.0.
I recently bought a practically brand new HP LJ P1006 with an extra brand new HP brand toner cartridge for $1 at a local auction. I have tested it, and it works perfectly, so all is fine there. I would like to know if it is possible to print wirelessly to it at all. I do not have it hooked up to a computer right now, we only have two laptops, so there is not a desktop to have it hooked up to in order to put it on a home network (I believe that is how that works).
I do have a Netgear N300 router with a USB port however, and I was thinking I may be able to do something there.
Is it possible to hook this printer into my router via USB and then be able to print to it from our latptops? If so, how would we go about setting that up to do so?
