I am struggling to get a printer added through the print server. The printer is set up in the TP-Link USB Printer Controller and selected as the auto-connect printer. I can scan through the server, but can't add the printer in control panel or see it as a option when printing. The printer is a Samsung SCX-340F.
When I first installed my wireless router a few years ago, I did it with my old computer which has Windows XP as its operating system. It is on this computer that the Linksys "admin control panel" is installed, which allows me see what computers are connected through the router, see what the settings of the router are, etc. I recently purchased a new computer which has Windows 7 as the operating system. As I transfer programs and documents from my old computer to my new computer, I have run into the problem of how to transfer the Linksys "admin control panel" from my old computer to my new computer. The original installation CD for Linksys won't work with Windows 7 so I don't even have that as a starting point. I tried going to the web-based admin site, but can't access it from either computer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere is the setup: A US Robotics USR-9108 router is connected to an ADSL modem via ethernet cable. The modem, upon connecting with the ISP, provides a gateway address of 192.168.1.1 to the router. End-users including me connect to the internet through the router via WiFi and are assigned the IP 192.168.1.2...192.168.1.255.
When disconnected from the modem, I can access the control panel via 192.168.3.1 but once the ethernet cable is plugged in I cannot access the above-mentioned IP; connecting to 192.168.1.1 opens up the modem's control panel. Any possible way to access the router control panel while it is connected to the internet?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Tablet PC that came with the configfree software. It worked fine for a while but then it started giving connectivity problems. I tryed to disable Configfree by all means possible to no avail. Then I decided to uninstall it successfully, but I still can't return the network connections control to windows. It seems like it is still under configfree. My guess is that some internal switch at the registry level is still saying that the wireless control is not windows.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe purchased an EA6500 to take the place of the router function of a Verizon Westell 7500. We bridged the Westell, installed and set up the EA6500 and everything seems fine.
What is strange is that some devices on the network (our server, user PC, a NAS that isn't part of the domain) while accessible if you navigate to them via \ do not appear in the Network window.
This of course is causing issues for some users who don't or won't map network drives.
At first I thought this may be an issue related to us having some of our network devices with static IP addresses so we switched them over to dynamic - no change in the network window.
we will have to return this router and get a different brand/model if it won't work in this fashion.

I'am a user of perfect-privacy.com (who provide VPN access for safe internet usage) and want to force the users of my internet connection to use perfect-privacy. On my old router i only allow access to the domain *.perfect-privacy.com and deny all other domains. To surf the web it was nessesary to connect via VPN (example server: moscow.perfect-privacy.com) to surf the web.
I've tested the Parental Control, but when i have activated it, i can access perfect-privacy.com, but i can't open a VPN connection to a Perfect Privacy server. Is there any way to configure Parental Control to allow VPN connections, or realize me needs in another way?
After getting unusual IP conflicts on my laptop, I did a scan of my home network with a program called Zamzom and got the following results:On my Macbook I used a similar program and got more than 40 devices showing up: Neither program says which devices are active. The Mac results bring up BlackBerrys among other things. I upgraded my security from WEP to WPA2, but nothing changed. I use NOD32 and recently installed AdAware, which picked up a few things, but again, results are the same.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am renovation my own house, and I have started to hard wire for the network/s, but I am also trying to incorporate so much more than any previous “wireless” setup I have had, well I am a bit confused to say the least.I would like to set up a home network and media server system which includes:Internet browsing (multiple rooms and wireless) File sharing, printer sharing, scanner etc Music/Video sharing/streaming, TV etc.I have started wiring (we are renovating) with Cat5e, and have just replaced the old POTS (telephone) wiring with Cat5e and taken the individual telephone wires (including the incoming telephone cable) back to one central connection unit in a network patch panel. This has improved the speed of my DSL download connection speed from 1.2mbs to 6.2mbs. unreal!, so that did get me a bit fired up!I am currently wiring data points (Cat5es from each room) back to the same panel, but to be honest I am not really sure where to go from there! Also, I have wired Sat cables back to this point ready to be connected to sat TV (dish) in case if we get it. This patch panel is in a small passageway that goes through to the garage from the house. It is conveniently located next to the mains board which I have just replaced. My original idea was to put any extra needed equipment in the same location, but looking at it, I think that I may have to think again, for there is little room. I have found a small alcove in the upstairs games room which has a shelf, and which could take any hardware, also it will be dust free (unlike the place leading to the garage). I can run as many cables as needed from this location to the patch panel, but obviously I would like to know how many, as I am not familiar with networking on this scale, my only other experience being wireless setups. For example, would the switch need to be located where the patch panel is, or else can it be on the shelf with the other stuff? (away from the panel), and the existing D-link 4 port router?? is this no longer required?Im presuming i will need an old PC or some sort of media storage device here too... no ideas with this either. Have tried asking three different computer stores, got three different answers...?!
Have I dropped a clanger wiring to the passageway, when infact any server/switch or whatever wont be in the same location? Also, I am planning on getting a MAC book, and would like to use this on the system sometimes (might not be relevant), just thought to mention. And, I was thinking of trying Linux, as I am fed up with all the windows problems. But not sure if that is a good idea either. We have TVs in the (when its finished) media room, also three other areas, which I would like to get connected so that they will be able to get either TV or watch a film from storage wow this is getting complicated and if it matters I do have a PS3, which we only really bought to use as a TV storage system/recorder.
we have the WLC and 2 x Aironet AP's that is powers over PoE. The other day is was reloaded and since then the AP points are Blinking Red, according the the Aironet manaul this means some sort of boot error? They are also not appearing on the WLC from the GUI or CLI running a show ap summary. Interesting though I can see them via CDP, however they are not picking up IP's as they are listed as 0.0.0.0. After checking with colleagues I was told these were set statically.
Is it possible that the points not having IP addresses is a sign of a corrupt boot environent? I would have though they would not have appeared in CDP if they were corrupt?
I did not set this up in the first place so a little puzzled at the moment? Nothing has changed on the config bar using a different NTP server on the network?
I have a new E4200 (running FW 1.0.3) and connected a Seagate GoFlex 1TB drive to it. The drive is recognized fine by macs and PCs. However, I find random folders appearing in my mac finder as "alias" and hence innaccessiable. There are a bunch of them scattered in random areas. On Windows those items appar as an unrecongnized incon, a 4KB size and Type file with the "archive" option checked under File "Properties". On a mac they appear as kind "alias" with a 4KB size.I also didn't notice any particular oddities with the directory name (I.e no special chars). I tried renaming them and that didn't fix it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWell, I recently purchased a new ipod Touch for my birthday and planned on using Wi-Fi internet for my touch when I'm around the house. My sister had a router that had not before been in much use, the WRT54G Linksys router; so to save money we decided to use that. Well, we plugged in the router on October 7th, (friday) and everything was working -- we had Wifi connection; the WLAN light on the Linksys router was lit up. Now, last night, October 8th, right before going to bed I shut down my computer and I unplugged my computer cable. I did not unplugg the router. This morning, as soon as I turned back on my computer, as soon as it was done booting up I noticed the WLAN button on the router was not lit up. I immediately pulled out my ipod and it said that I was not connected to Wifi. All day I have been unplugging the router/modem, replugging them in, only to find that the WLAN button is still not lighting. The other buttons on the router - 'power', 'internet', and '1' (out of 1, 2, 3, 4) are lit. I have only tried rebooting the modem/router/computer once, which was about ten minutes ago and still nothing worked. Is there any way to get my Wifi back? The router is pretty much brand new, having never really been in use to begin with.
