No Internet Connection After DNS Flush?
Sep 1, 2011
I have not been able to get onto the internet in about 2 days now. I know my modem (2wire) is working correctly, I spent 2 hours checking it thoroughly with my internet provider. I have checked various websites and have flushed my DNS, brought back my computer to it's original manufactured settings, I even deleted and re-installed the network device but still I am only able to access my local network. I'm wondering if there are any other suggestions for fixing my computer

I have to do ipconfig /flushdns from my Laptop to access my PC, on my local network, for some reason when the Laptop is booted up.After that all works like it should. I made a batch file to do that command during Windows start up. Is there any reason why I have to do this or is it just something quirky with Windows? Both computers have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Both use the same DNS servers.

I have been encountering a can't find server (not page not found error 404) message in two ways. Either using a hyperlink to open a new web page or returning to a tab will yield this error. Refreshing the page will render the page properly. The two cures I have found that look to be the most promising are to run ipconfig /flushdns from the command prompt and to clear the prefetch cache.

Discovery got a little messed up when importing from LMS 3.1
Basically I want to flush all devices from all the different LMS modules. If I delete all devices from Device Management they seem to stay in Topology Services / Device Discovery / Data Collection etc.. They keeps the old device in their own database.
Is there a way of flushing all devices from all these different modules. I'm going to re-import them with a clean CSV import file.

I just bought a "DLink Xtreme N Gigabit Router DIR-655" I configured it correctly. It works well for the wireless connection but my Lan connection (wired connection) does not work. The Lan computer connects to the router but cannot access the internet. All of my machines work OK with a Netgear G router, including the Lan computer.

Every time I boot up my computer, everything will be working fine for about 5 -10 minutes, but after this, all my browsers will lose connection to the Internet. All of them: IE, firefox, chrome, even the steam browser, all of them just lose connection. The weird thing is, my net connection is perfectly fine: I can still play online games, still use online chat services, still open and use programs like utorrent. It's like something is just blocking all my browser connections. When I run a network troubleshooter, it says "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (Microsoft Corporation: Software, Smartphones, Online, Games, Cloud Computing, IT Business Technology, Downloads) is not responding."I googled this and came across some apparent fixes like flushing and re-registering my dns and restarting my modem, niether of which has worked. In addition, this problem is showing up on two totally separate shared networks and has only affected my computer. Other netwworked devices, like friends/families computers and my iPhone (which I am using to type this) work fine.

I have a desktop computer that I have used for years and it has always worked just fine. We have AT&T (DSL, not cable) and it used to connect just fine but then I moved out, left everything plugged in exactly as it was and when I came back it wouldn't connect. It connects to the LAN but not to the internet. When I go in cmd to type ipconfig the DNS suffix is blank on that computer but says gateway.2wire.net on my wireless laptop. I eventually disabled UPnP on it because that's what alot of people were saying fixed the problem but it didn't fix anything. All it did was make the Internet Gateway Connection box disappear.Originally it was plugged in like so: Cable from wall > Cable Box > PC Now it is hooked up like this: Data cable from wall > DSL > Router > PC It stopped working BEFORE it was switched to DSL so that isn't the problem The DSL we have is "AT&T 2701HG-B 2Wire Wireless Gateway DSL Router Modem" and the Router it is plugged into that goes to my PC is a Linksys Wireless Router Model WRT54GS The PC is Windows XP Home, SP2?

Case: My home has few laptops and mobile phones connected wireless to the home's Router -> & to cable modem.
Problem: When I turn-on this particular HP's PC and connect to the internet (wireless) - the whole house internet connection becomes intermittent (e.g. OFF / ON). The Internet connection is fine (no problem), if this PC is not connected to the Internet (not connected to ie or google).
Trouble Shoot (without success)
- I have reformatted the PC and scan the PC with Malware in safe mode (no infection).

Ive been having a problem for the past few days that seems to be "unfixable" ,When I googled for it I found somone on this forum had the same problem , but none of the solutions that were listed were able to work for me. ( virus , restore comp , process causing it )The topic im talking about is 2wire Ethernet Light Blinking -Very- Rapidly + other problemsIm having the same exact problem as this guy and have the same modem. The internet will go down , and come back up in like 20seconds or so. Also at times I will experience heavy heavy lag. What I noticed is when the internet goes down , the Ethernet light stops blinking and is turned off , once the light turns green , it starts working again.his problem occures on all the comps in my house , some hooked up via wire and some wireless

I recently moved into a new place and my internet's been very spotty at best. The internet seems very fast at times but slows down, and even completely stop working, at other times. The weird thing is that my computer never says I'm disconnected from the internet. Instead, I either get disconnected from my games or the webpages I try to load show that it "cannot be displayed." The place I moved into provides wall jacks for a T-1 internet connection. I've tried directly connecting the ethernet cable to my desktop/laptop as well as connecting it to a router and trying out the wireless, all to no avail. The problem only seems to be resonating from where I'm currently living, as when I go onto campus, the wireless is fine. Also tried turning off firewalls, using a different browser, resetting the router, and a new ethernet cable.

I have a desktop that had issues, so I cleaned the hard disk and reinstalled the software like when it was new. I have updated all the windows and network card updates. When I first start the computer, I can connect to the internet for about 2-5 minutes then lose the connection. Often, internet explorer shows a screen that says the site is busy and try again later, but we can connect fine on other computers. Our internet connection comes from a DSL modem to a Cisco Valet Plus wireless router, however this computer is connected by a hard wire to a port on the router. I have changed ports, but have the same issue. The computers connected wirelessly stay connected.
I can restart the computer and the internet will work for 2-5 minutes again, but then do the same. If I go to ipconfig and release and renew, it still will not connect to the internet.

My PC can pick up my and connect to my wireless network but i still can't use the internet. This has just happened randomly, i haven't changed anything in my entire setup. There is a Laptop, an xbox and another Desktop along with an ipod and ipad that are all functioning properly whilst being connected to the same network. I also have an xbox in my room next my PC which is having the same issue, it picks up xbox live but nothing works. Perhaps the issues are connected or share a common problem? either way it has left me stumped .I've power cycled multiple times, uninstalled and reinstalled my wireless receiver a even tryed using a brand new one. I called telstra (my isp) and they said they can't do anything because the receiver i use is not from telstra. I can use a wired connection fine its just the wireless, however it needs to stay wireless as i'm on the 2nd story of my house and my modem is on the first story. here are my results from ipconfig /all. I've got a wireless connection in my house going through a Linksys WRT54GC router and also a wired connection with Cisco gateway (only 1 laptop uses it). About 1 month ago some strange things began to happen with the wireless connection, my PC seems not to be able to connect unless I reinstall the protocols and it's really annoying to do that every time I run my PC. Also, the wired connection stopped working (probably because of cable being broken) but it requires a router restart 90% of the time when I want to connect the laptop (that used to connect through cable) to the wireless network. The 2nd laptop has an issue mentioned in the title, the LAN works but it can't connect to the Internet through the router. Ipconfig /all shows that DHCP isn't working, there's no default gateway and DNS seems to be wrong. Could that all be related to router not being updated for a long time? I tried reinstalling drivers, unistalling and installing back network card and doing most of the things mentioned in similar threads but nothing seems to work.

I have a Linux OS running here with a broadband DSL connection. Everything here is okay. A friend of mine has a 3G modem with a slow connection (I don't know the exact speed - near dial-up).
Well, I was thinking of setting up a VPN between mine and his PC, using Hamachi. I read on LogMeIn Hamachi website (while logged in) in a page to set up a VPN, where there are three types of network:
Mesh Network In a mesh network, every member is connected to every other member. It is a typical choice when it's essential to reach every member of the network.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. Ever since I installed some Bluetooth software the internet connection icon has displayed a red X and is not reporting on the real name for my router. It only says 'Network 2 Internet access Unidentified network No internet access'. I have seen a previous post on this subject in this forum, but I want to clarify EXACTLY what I would need to do to fix the problem. According to Device Manager I have two entries under Network Adaptors: NVIDEA nForce Networking Controller VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter (I am using VirtualBox to run Windows 8 and Ubuntu). If I were to uninstall the NVIDEA driver what would I reinstall? The existing version on my hard disk somewhere? I used Update Driver and it said I had the latest drivers so I assume that's what I have available locally.

My computer recently (two months ago) became unable to connect to various websites such as Facebook, various web comics, and Slashdot. The weird part is that I can ping the websites and get returns. Also I can connect to Spotify, YouTube, Netflix fine. This tells me it isn't a bandwidth issue. I also have troubles with Dyn Updater and Drop-box not connecting, this tells me it isn't a chrome problem. My laptop can access everything fine from the same connection.I have reformatted my desktop hard drive and the problem returns.

Im trying to connect to a wireless internet connection on my xp laptop. Using an edimax wireless lan usb adapter (which is very old but should still work!) when i plug it in it finds the signal automatically, i click connect, enter the correct network key, it trys to connect a few times and then just stops altogether. When I try and repair the connection it says: 'the following action could not be completed: Disabling the wireless network adapter. Make sure your network adapter is properly installed'.
