I can't print in my network printer using my Laptop (WIFI). I have check the default gateway of the desktop PC on which connected the printer and its different from my Laptop. Also I cant "SEE" this desktop PC on the LAN.

View 2 Replies View RelatedClient is having 1 file server running small business windows server 2003. Server is not configured with domain, it is working only on workgroup. We have around 15 users who are using that server as file server only. Now my main question is do i need to configure DNS server in that server?we also have internet connection running (have problem in that also, will explain next time) with wireless router to connected with switch. So do I need to setup dns in server also or just put static ip (I prefer static then dhcp) & dns server from ip will be ok? If I put dns which I got from ISP, so will it create any problem with using those file from server?the second question is..

hrome threw me a DNS lookup failed. I go into my network settings and I noticed that I had limited connectivity. It would switch between no network access and no internet access every few seconds. After a bit of fiddling around, I got it to connect through assigning myself a static IP. This isn't exactly convenient because I use this computer on multiple networks. When I try to have it on automatic IP, I get no IP address or default gateway when I do an ipconfig /all. It would appear that my router quit assigning my laptop an IP for no reason whatsoever. DHCP is enabled on the router, and all other devices work fine. What could possibly be the problem here? I'm 99% sure it's not an IP conflict either. It's not being MAC filtered because I'm on the thing right now posting this through a static IP. It's not my A/V because it's worked great in the past. Perhaps I should also mention it occasionally says "unidentified network" instead of the SSID

My wife has a work laptop that she uses to connect to the internet and she can only do this through her work VPN.
I have a windows 7 desktop and can connect fine to a wireless HP 6500A Plus wireless printer on the same home network that my computer is connected to. So my computer prints wirelessly just fine.
She needs to print onto this same printer. We just spent 2 hours on the phone with a tech support guy from her work and we can't get it.
I'm computer savvy but not familiar with VPN's at all. How do we get her laptop, connected through VPN, to connect to the printer on my home wireless network.

3 Computers 2 using vista - 1 using XP. Printer is a HP 2727nf. Will work for a couple of jobs then receives an error code and will not print anymore for any computer. Only a hard reset of turning the printer off and clearing out the queue will print the job that was getting stuck. Wondering if anything can be done so error code won't show up and we can get this printer to run smooth again. PS we have another HP printer that works fine on the network.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small network of computers and printers in my tax office and consist of three computers running in window xp professional, one computer is designated as the server workstation and the c drive is the share drive and the other two work stations are mapped to the share drive c on the server workstation . so i am using peer to peer networking and these three computers are connected by a seven port router and two other printer are attached to the router also. i am having a problem printing from the computers to these printers, one is a hp laserjet 4200 and another is a hp laserjet all in one 3055.
In the past i just click and i would print, but a few day ago when i click print from either workstation it would que it to printing but it would have a message that it could not find my printer on the network. dont know why it all of a sudden stop working. do not know anything about setting up a printer on a network. do note the printers are connected to the router and not directly to the server workstation computer via usb. So the two workstation and the server workstation have the printer software on the C drive of each computer but for some reason it could not find the printers on the network. How to network a hp laserjet 4200 and Hp laserjet 3055 in a network that is connected by by one seven port router. why is the printers not in the network?
The printer, EPSON SX515W Series, is connected to the old computer, plugged in. The other laptops were not connected to the printer and would print as wireless. However now only the old computer prints directly to the printer, the other laptops fail to print it says that the laptop has the EPSON printer as it's default printer yet when ever I try to print, an exclamation mark in yellow triangle appears on the icon, in the control panel>printer section. Troubleshoot does not fix the problem either.The other problem is I can't remember how this was set up as my dad did it, and he will kill me if I don't fix it back. Also the old computer is different to the laptops. Old computer has Windows XP, and the laptops are vista.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't see a forum for the DIR-665 so I am posting this here.I have setup my network using the DIR-665. I can print to my network printer (not plugged into router usb it is a Network printer) from WIN XP and Mac Snow Leopard and Lion via a network cable.
When I connect to the router via WIFI it shows the printer is ready. Then I click print and it starts trying to find the printer but then fails saying the printer is not on the network.
I am currently having a problem connecting a hardlined (ethernet connected) PC to a wireless printer. I want to know first of all if this is even possible. If so, how can I make this work? I know just enough about networking to be dangerous, but not enough to see what I am doing wrong. My network structure is as follows:
a 2Wire wireless modem/router provided by my ISP. a win xp laptop connected wirelessly a vista laptop connected wirelessly a win xp pc connected via the 2Wire ethernet port a Lexmark 4530 printer with wireless adapter connected wirelessly wireless config is WPA-personal (TKIP)
The laptops are able to print to the printer, but that is only because I used the CD for the printer to setup the wireless printing. When I look at the network neighborhood on both laptops, the printer does not appear. This leads me to believe that the printer is not connected to the network, the laptops have just created a printer connection (the port designation leads me to believe this as it just shows Lexmark 3500_4500 and not an actual address). The hardlined PC can connect to the internet, but is not visible to either of the PC's. When I try to type in the IP address listed on the printers config page, it doesn't see it. I can ping it, but can't connect. I think my problem is in the connection of the wireless printer. I can see it in the connection screen of the 2Wire status page, but I have a funny feeling it isn't configured properly. There appears to be no way to configure the printer outside of using their "wireless connection utility wizard" on the CD.
There is one other twist to this, I have a Dlink DGL4300 wireless gaming router that I use for my XBOX and to give me additional hardline ports for other things. I don't have it connected right now (my box is out of commission waiting on parts), but I did have it connected behind the 2Wire before without any problems. I would like for it to remain this way once I have the printing problem resolved. I am using DHCP right now with auto assigned IPs, but I can reconfigure the network to whatever will allow me to get this to work properly.
I recently upgraded my d-link router DI-524 for Netgear N600 WNDR3700v3 and every component (wired or wireless) is working except network printer. I have it wired directly to the router and all pcs on the home network can see it, however when i select to do a test print, nothing prints to the printer and i get error. I had this setup using the d-link router with both the printer and the XP PC wired directly to the router and using the XP PC as a network pc sharing the printer to other pcs (Vista / Windows 7) on the home network.The printer is a Toshiba e-studio 160 series.. I re-added the print drivers for XP and still not able to print. Is there anything else I can try?

I am trying to set up a PPTP VPN connection which also provides internet access. I have the following configuration. The router named "Router1" connects 2 computers PC1 and PC2 on the LAN side with a network address of 192.168.1.0/24. It is a PPTP server and a DHCP server. It gives IP addresses to PC1 and PC2. It has a static address of 192.169.1.2 on the LAN side and a static address of 10.2.9.1 on the WAN Side. PC3 has a static address of 10.2.9.2 and is connected to the WAN port of Router1. "Router2" is connected to the LAN side of Router1 and it has a static IP of 192.168.1.1. Router2 is connected to the internet and provides internet connection to PC1 and PC2. PC1 and PC2 connects fine to the internet and can see each other. However, PC3 cannot connect to the internet even though it is connected to Router1 by PPTP VPN connection. PC3 can see PC1, PC2, Router1 and Router2 but it cannot connect to the internet because Router1 does not give it the default gateway(192.168.1.1) to connect it.
When PC3 connects via PPTP, It receives a correct IP address(10.2.9.3), correct DNS addresses but the ip4 default gateway field is left blank, and the DHCP option is not enabled on connection properties of PC3. Router1 is a DD-WRT firmware router (DLink Dir 400) and has PPTP server enabled as a service. How do I get Router 1 to give PC3 a default gateway IP? And how do I forward all outgoing packets from Router 1 to Router 2? I do not need portforwarding for some ports, I need full access to the internet from PC3 though the PPTP connection via Router2
New Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine.Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed.No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install.On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.

I have an HP L7590 printer I'm trying to hook up to my wife's computer so she can print from it. Her desktop computer and the printer are in the same room and I know I should probably just get a long usb cable and hook it up to her Vista machine when she needs to print but I've been trying to network it so she can just print easily. I have the Ethernet cable running from the printer to the Motorola SBG6580 modem. The modem is hard wired directly to her desktop and I just use my laptop wireless. I have Win7 on my laptop. I've configured all the network connections and we are sharing. Her desktop does see the printer both wirelessly and stand alone connected. I've tried to connect both ways but no joy. I've even been able to do a test print from her machine but that's all it will print for some reason. It looks as if it will run the print and it shows the printer icon in her taskbar but it won't print.

Now when issue a print command to the printer, the printout delays until i restart the machine before it comes out. If i issue another print command, i would have to go through the same process again.
