How do I add names to the list so I know which devices are using what ip etc. I have tried the advanced settings in the router to see if I can do it this way , but no luck.

I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

I have three computers wired to it and their Host names (as specified in the set-up of each computer) show up in the router's DHCP device table. I also have two printers (one old Brother HL5250DN laser printer and one new HP Photosmart Premier C410a inkjet printer) connected and there are blanks where the Host name should go. I would like to be able to tell which printer is which when I am looking at the DHCP device table. How can I get a names associated with each printer's IP address in the router's DHCP device table? (The real problem is that the router seems to have both printers at the same IP address (192.168.1.100) and if I can get one of them to change I'd like to know which one it was!)

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a router connected to my ISP which can get me 2 different IP's at all times (the router gets one IP).Now i want to get my computer to have a different ip as my router has (seen from outside my home network) - i want my computer that accesses the internet through my router to have a different IP as my router. I know that if my computer gets it's IP from my router's subnet, then it will (seen from outside) always have the same IP as my router. So the question is how do i get around this ? Do i just have to change my PC's DNS / gateway settings to match my router's ? The PC is connected to my router via wifi. Or would forwarding some ports on my router work ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing a sg300-52 switch I created two VLANs that share a port for access to the internet. All original devices added to the VLANs are functioning correctly so I have to beleive the VLANs are set up correctly. I added a new desktop and an old laptop to the VLAN and neither worked. I was able to get the desktop to work by enabling VLAN tagging in the network adapter. The laptop is 5 years old and it does not have any such setting in network adapter. There are 2 other devices that share the same port with the laptop and they both function properly. My conclusion is that the laptop does not support VLAN tagging. Is there someway to configure the switch to account for this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a recently purchased 28 port SG300 switch. Everything is working well. Unfortunately there is so much traffic flying around that a 10MB half duplex device is struggling to function as it is overloaded. Removing some of the sources of traffic fixes it.
Fortunately I only need to access that device from one PC on the network. That PC however needs to access everything else on the network.
Is there a simple way to shield the slow device from everything except traffic from the PC ?
The switch is in Level2 mode at the moment. Everything is on a single sub net.
I purchased 2 SG500x switches that I will stack and connect to a NAS device at 10G. I need to purchase transceivers. The documentation has me confused. I just want to make sure that I can use SFP-10G-SR to stack and as the interface to the NAS. S1/S2 for stacking and XG1/XG2 to connect to the NAS all at 10G.

I'm doing this to, among other things, run some tests to evaluate the impact of my router on my bandwidth.However, removing the line seems to be causing problems.Everything is fine when I'm behind the router, but once I unplug the line from the router and plug it directly into my computer, I can't connect to the internet.
