Jan 28, 2011I have a Linksys Cisco system router and cannot get it to work, I believe I have it hooked up right. I am wanting it for a Sylvania wireless mobile internet device.

May 12, 2011I have a motorola usb modem which is connected to my laptop and i have shared the connection and have an ethernet cable from laptop to wireless modem (TP-LINK) such that other wifi enabled devices can connect to it.Now we have electricity blackouts and when that happens my wireless router gets turned off. Internet on the laptop is working fine, now when the electricity comes back and the wireless router is on, the net does not work on the other wifi devices and only my laptop (as its directly connected to the modem).I have to reboot my laptop for the shared connection to work.

It seems the problem is probably from my home wireless router supplier by-aol as I can access work from my laptop anywhere else except my home. However if i set WEP password to protect the wireless connection, i am not able to connect to the wireless connection. Everytime i enter the passphrase, when trying to connect to the wireless network, it refuses to accept the password. I have tried this with 2 laptops (both running windows 7) and both have same issue.

My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

Apr 29, 2011i have a router connected to my ISP which can get me 2 different IP's at all times (the router gets one IP).Now i want to get my computer to have a different ip as my router has (seen from outside my home network) - i want my computer that accesses the internet through my router to have a different IP as my router. I know that if my computer gets it's IP from my router's subnet, then it will (seen from outside) always have the same IP as my router. So the question is how do i get around this ? Do i just have to change my PC's DNS / gateway settings to match my router's ? The PC is connected to my router via wifi. Or would forwarding some ports on my router work ?

Oct 27, 2011I'm trying to remove my router from my home network and connect my computer directly into the line coming into the house. I'm doing this to, among other things, run some tests to evaluate the impact of my router on my bandwidth.However, removing the line seems to be causing problems.Everything is fine when I'm behind the router, but once I unplug the line from the router and plug it directly into my computer, I can't connect to the internet. I get a "limited or no access" error on my Local Area Network. Once I reconnect the router, though, everything's fine.I've tried several things.I've tried turning off the Windows Firewall to no avail (I have no other firewalls on my computer).I've checked to make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are checked, which they are.I ran ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew only to receive the following error:"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server.
