Windows XP Machine Connected To Router Wirelessly But Cannot Be Pinged
Jan 11, 2011Windows 2003 R2 Server machine cannot be pinged, not XP? I'm running a highly modified version of Windows 2003 R2 to make use of an old PC. It connects beautifully to a Verizon router (I can browse the Internet), but I can't figure out how to share folders on my network. I have a Macbook and Win7 machine and both cannot see this old PC on the network. I have tried to ping the old PC from my Win7 machine, and it will only timeout. Below is some relevant output from the old PC

Routers / Switches :: Setup An Home Network With A Wireless Router And Use Multiple Switches?
Jan 29, 2011I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.

Feb 23, 2011I can connect to the free wireless with no problem on my company laptop. Last night, I was using my personal laptop (as I have been for 2 weeks) on the wireless internet when I suddenly lost connection. In the Network and Sharing center of Windows Vista it shows a connection to the router but an 'X' between the router and the internet. When I run the diagnostic I get "Cannot communicate with primary DNS server (4.2.2.1)" The it says "Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receive a response".

Sep 11, 2012We have a 2960 switch (switch2), whose Management IP cannot be reached/Ping'd. Could not Ping . We have checked the following, but still no clue on the root cause. Haven't tried a reboot yet.
Topology.
All switches are cascaded through trunk and allows all v lan's.
L3switch1 <-> switch1 <-> switch2 <-> switch3 <-> L3switch2
Switch 2 has correct ARP entries for the other switches that we try to ping.Mac address table is fine.Switches other than Switch 2 has proper ARP and Mac entries.This Mgmt v lan is not pruned across any trunks. (we are able to ping switch3 crossing switch2 when tried from switch1)Switches are running PVST and convergence is fine.No access list to deny the traffic.Tried sut/no shut on the V lan interface.
But still switch 2 could not be reached.

Mar 27, 2012I have a problem with siemens industrial profinet apparatous and my Cat2960.
Siemens host can be pinged without any problem but they are not able to do any other kind of traffic. If i look at the interface I can find that all ingress packet are UNKNOWN DROPPED.
I found a document where si explained that "probably" siemens host are using packet with 802.1p header and vlan 0.
I tried the following tests:
1) port in access mode - failed
2) port in trunk mode with native vlan - failed
3) port in access mode with voice vlan - failed
4) port in acess-mode with voice vlan dot1p - failed

Apr 29, 2011i have a router connected to my ISP which can get me 2 different IP's at all times (the router gets one IP).Now i want to get my computer to have a different ip as my router has (seen from outside my home network) - i want my computer that accesses the internet through my router to have a different IP as my router. I know that if my computer gets it's IP from my router's subnet, then it will (seen from outside) always have the same IP as my router. So the question is how do i get around this ? Do i just have to change my PC's DNS / gateway settings to match my router's ? The PC is connected to my router via wifi. Or would forwarding some ports on my router work ?

Oct 27, 2011I'm trying to remove my router from my home network and connect my computer directly into the line coming into the house. I'm doing this to, among other things, run some tests to evaluate the impact of my router on my bandwidth.However, removing the line seems to be causing problems.Everything is fine when I'm behind the router, but once I unplug the line from the router and plug it directly into my computer, I can't connect to the internet. I get a "limited or no access" error on my Local Area Network. Once I reconnect the router, though, everything's fine.I've tried several things.I've tried turning off the Windows Firewall to no avail (I have no other firewalls on my computer).I've checked to make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are checked, which they are.I ran ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew only to receive the following error:"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server.
