My second computer on my network randomly drops out all the time. I have a WRT54G router that is working fine with my first computer (Windows 7) but the second computer (Windows XP) is having issues. It'll be running completely fine and you can even get on the internet after it's been on for a few hours but after a few minutes on the internet (10min about) it drops out completely and can't reconnect.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a PC upstairs, let's call it (Peter-PC), my dad has a PC downstairs (Kris-PC) and I just setup a linux home server downstairs as well called (server).Now, Peter-PC is connected through Linksys powerline adapters to the router, and server and Kris-PC are connected directly to the router as well.Peter-PC stays constantly connected to the internet, only until Kris-PC is turned on, then Peter-PC connection goes mental and begins to disconnect, reconnect, can't ping the router. As soon as Kris-PC is turned off,Peter-PC is back to normal.However, if Kris-PC and server are both on, they both operate fine. Seems like Peter-PC is the only unfortunate one.I mean the powerline adapters have been working for over 3 years now, and the Powerline light is flashing meaning they are communicating, I highly doubt it's the adapters.
View 18 Replies View Relatedno matter what device is used to connect to our Linksys WRY54G v2.0 Router, whether it be CAT6, internal wireless card (Intel Wireless LAN (802.11a/b/g/n), or USB wireless card (Linksys AE1000), she drops connections at random and frequent times and has to disconnect the device and reconnect to get internet back. She is still connected to the network though. The issue has been becoming more and more frequent the past few days and has been ongoing for a few months. We are at wits end with the issue. I looked on Linksys' website for updated firmware for the router AND the AE1000, no new firmware and same driver that is installed for the AE1000. We have tried to enable Multimedia Environment, Disable 802.11, unchecked "Automatically turn off device to save power", changed router channels from 6 to 1, have uninstalled ALL third party firewalls and AV/Spyware/Malware/Adware removal programs (but not before scanning the system), and lastly tried the DHCP Braodcast Flag Fix.

It can browse the web all day, but the second a large file begins to transfer (video, a file download, etc.) it will drop the connection randomly, usually rather quickly. The computer does not need to be restarted to reconnect, it often reconnects on its own near-immediately, though sometimes I have to go to the system tray and reconnect manually.I thought it was too far from the router, but my tower in the same room connects flawlessly, and going in to the same room as the router doesn't work. This same laptop has been fine on every other network, and every other computer is fine on this network. I've web crawled off and on about this for months, but no one's problem is limited to one computer/network combination.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI got my wife a new laptop in October, and it runs on windows 7, since the 25th of december she has been having connectivity issues with her wireless card. She had 2 bars on her signal strength, and I wanted to take the signal strenght out of the equation, so I got a N range booster to put in the room she is usually in, she now has a signal strength of 5 bars. However she still loses connection to the internet.
ISP is Bell Fibe 25 Router is the bell modem/router in one. My son's Laptop goes in that room, and has no issues. I have made sure the drivers are up to date on both the router/modem, and on the laptop itself. The only thing I cna think of is that it is the card itself that is faulty.
We have 2 AIR-WLC4402-K9 devices at a remote location that will both drop their network connections some undetermined time after a reboot. We cannot reach them via telnet, SSH or HTTP. In fact, we cannot even ping them once they drop connection. The only cure we've found so far is to power-cycle the controllers. The controllers are in separate rooms and connected to separate switches. We've confirmed the links are configured as trunks and have the correct speed/duplex settings. I tried updating the IOS & boot loader on one of them but that had no effect on the problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my DIR 615 router for about 6 months, and have had no problems. I have a notebook (Sony Vaio) and I also have a Blue-Ray Player and my DirecTV DVR connected by ethernet. Starting a few days ago I was having connectivity issues. At first I could see the network on my Vaio, but the Internet kept coming and going.I did some troubleshooting on the adapter and that seemed to work. Now I am having an issue where every 2 hours or so the wireless drops and the network disappears from the list of available connections on my notebook. I have had my netbook on (connected wireless) and the issues are replicated on that system.
Both of my wired devices do not see any interruption in connectivity. Living in an apartment complex I suspected interference and indeed there are a ton of other networks in range (as per inSSIDer 2.0). As there is no channel that is clearly open, I have set my router to auto channel scan. I also have tried some of the steps outlined in other threads. The thing I am noticing is that when the network connection drops my network (which has a unique name) doesn't even show up on inSSIDer, it just disappears. When working, my network is consistantly in the -25 range on inSIDDer.I should point out also that my notebook is a mere 8 feet from the router, and there are no obstructions.
2 days ago my e1000 died, so I went big and bought the e4200 (due to newness, its already loaded with Firmware 1.0.03 build 14) to aleviate my networking woes. I'm running into an issue where I'm utilizing both the 2.4Ghz bands and the 5Ghz band. My desktop as an AE1000, and I'm utilizing that on the 5Ghz band. Everything else in the house (Dell laptop, 2x iPhone 4 and an HP printer) are all connecting to the network wirelessly.
I have had 0 network issues with regards to my wired connections, or my 5Ghz connection. But my 2.4Ghz connection will continuously be unavailable. I have both bands set to brodcast, they have different names so my AE1000 can connect via 5Ghz band. Both yesterday evening, and this morning, my phones, laptop and printer cannot connect, and for the most part, the network doesn't show up on available networks. When it does show up, the devices can't connect.I'm proficient enough to do the general home networking, but I'm at a loss as to how to fix this, without a daily reboot of the router (which seems excessive and unwarranted for a 2 day old e4200 [or any router to be honest]).
So I've had this problem ever since I bought my computer. The only wireless connection that I am able to connect to, is the one in my home. If i travel anywhere else, my laptop refuses to let me connect. The thing is, my laptop sees the connections, but when I click "connect", the box closes and nothing happens. The laptop seems as though it doesn't even try to connect to the network. Everything remains the same, yet when I come to my house, it connects automatically. Now if I click "Add" on the network config. it won't even let me add a network to my computer or anything. I click the "Add" button and nothing happens. I am running a Windows XP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery time I use internet applications, browsers, game clients, games, etc. the computer will completely lock up and I am required to manually reboot it. All devices stop working and the only way to get it working again is to hard reset. I'm so fed up with it, and have tried virtually everything. On top of that, I am getting only 1-9 Mbps download speed, opposed to all my other wireless devices, which are getting 34-36, which is what my wired connection is.

I'm currently using a Lenovo V360 and my issue is that my computer, which connects via wi-fi, disconnects from the network randomly. The network will be completely removed from the list of available networks. The other networks available will still be visible. I tried turning off the wi-fi button on my laptop and turning it back on, but the list of available networks still does not include the network I was recently connected to. The only way to see the network on my Lenovo is to restart the computer. The connection works perfectly after I restart. It is definitely not the network's problem because I am still connected to the same network with my other laptop. If necessary, my laptop runs Windows 7, my router is a D-Link, and the encryption is WPA.

I'm using a Linksys Wireless-N router (WRT160N) with WEP encryption. I'm running two Windows 7 laptops, LG BluRay player, Apple TV, Xbox 360 (Wired) iPhone 4, and a iPad 2. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore.
Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider)
Changing wiring.
Disabling / Enabling.
Disabling virusscanner.
I've tried two different brands of wireless network adapter now: a Netgear and a Belkin. They've both had the same issue.I'm running Windows 7, and the network connection will just randomly drop out. If I unplug and plug in the adapter, the network will reappear and it will connect to the internet just fine, until the next time it drops out.

Longstanding problem with Ethernet connected computer losing connectivity to E3200. Connectivity reestablished by powering down, cutting power to cable modem, computer, and E3200, and restarting. Other wireless connections (iphones, ipad, other dos -based laptops have no problems--never any loss of connectivity. Things I have done to date: removed Linksys E-series software and reloaded, updated drivers, changed all wiring to router, and checked IP addresses and they are different.

Im using wifi and I have tried a lot of things in case something interferes like changing channels. My signal strength is great and my isp and speed is fine and my connection is 54mbps. What is kind of weird is that my wifi doesnt disconnect it just stops transmitting data and the only way to fix it is to reset the router or unplug and replug my usb wifi adapter. I downloaded the wireless tool from this website, since my windows language(Windows XP) is in greek so is the reg file and some characters are just weird symbols. To Kedar:Unfortunately, no its impossible to change the language of your OS ive tried it before, the only way is to buy the English version and reinstall windows.

My son's pc is wireless, and every day when he goes to get on it for school (he's homeschooled through a virtual academy), the LAN icon, instead of bars, has the yellow dot on it indicating connection. He has to reconnect every day, and sometimes even throughout the day if he leaves the computer long enough (such as when the monitor goes off, there is no screensaver). View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having some issues with my network connectivity for a while now, and I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. I run a wired connection to an Ethernet port in the wall of my university dorm. I have verified that it is not a global network issue or an ISP issue; this problem only happens on my PC.My network connection drops/disconnects randomly throughout the day. When I say disconnect/drop, I mean that all attempts to ping or access the internet fail. A few minutes pass before the Network and Sharing center task tray icon shows a warning sign saying that my computer could not connect to the internet.This is temporarily fixed by doing an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, but I have to execute these two commands about 2-3 times a day on average.
There is no exact interval between the disconnects, nor does it happen when I am running particular programs. The disconnect happens regardless of what I am doing at the moment (gaming, browsing the internet, leaving the computer idle).A month back, I installed some Windows Updates and suddenly my internet connection was almost completely broken. I was experiencing the same issue, but much more frequently. My internet would die within 10 seconds of executing any download, but Windows wouldn't recognize that something was wrong. At first I thought the ZoneAlarm, Avast!, or the SafeConnect (as required by my university) services were causing trouble but uninstalling/disabling these services did not fix the problem.I also tried reverting to my default ethernet drivers, which did nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of my drivers to no avail.However, the internet worked just fine in Safe Mode with Networking, so I cross-referenced the processes/services running in Safe Mode w/ Networking against my normal startup, guessing something else was at play.After some poking around, I discovered that disabling the Server and Browser services permanently fixed the issue of instant connection death. My router is a Linksys E1000 and the wireless adapter is a Netgear WG111v2. The problem is Every few mins I drop connection for may 5-30 secs and then the internet is fine. During that time it does not say I only have local connection or anything like that it constantly says I have internet connection even when I dont. It is very noticable when i am playing an online game on my computer. I will get a few mins in and then it will drop kicking me out of the game and by the time I get kicked out my Internet is reconnected and I can join again.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and have been experiencing problems when connecting to my personal wireless network. It seems that whenever I'm downloading anything or using the connection extensively I'll lose internet connection and the wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show an orange star to indicate that connections are available. However if I go to available networks I can immediately reconnect to the network I was on.
I have other notebooks that run on XP that do not have this issue and use the connection without a problem. Also when I connect my notebook directly to my belkin router via Ethernet cable the connection has issues. I'm running my computer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and my Wireless adapter is an Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi adapter which appears to have up to date drivers.
I have a Windows XP machine which uses a USB wireless adapter. When I plug in another USB device, the wireless adapter drops the wifi connection.
