She just had her PC connected directly to her modem for several years, so I eventually got her a router so when her kids and grand kids came to visit they could use wifi. It was a very basic and inexpensive Belkin model, but I don't recall the model number. The problem was the Internet connection would become inactive every time the desktop PC that was connected to router via Ethernet would go to sleep. The only way to get the Internet connection back was to wake up the desk top PC. I checked all of the router settings, googled to see if I could find similar problems, etc... and never could fix it; so I eventually set up my trusty old wrt54g at her house. It worked fine in my home for years; and when I set it up at her house, it still had all of my original network settings in it. I just changed the network name and password.But the same issue is still there. Every time the desktop PC goes to sleep... The router loses Internet connection and does not get it back until the desk top is made active again

Oct 2, 2011My laptop is an Inspiron N5010 running the standard Windows 7 64bit. When returning from sleep/hibernate, the internet wont connect automatically. And there is a little red cross over the Internet access icon in the bottom left.After I click to connect to the network it still cannot make the connection. And a yellow '!'' appears over the icon. After I click 'Troubleshoot problems" it will make connection though it can take a minute till its up.
I have checked the option to automatically connect to the network in range. And this used to work fine, but somehow it doesnt work correctly anymore.I have the latest bios and network drivers already.

Jun 19, 2012I have two computers. In my first computer Linux operating system its a domain controller and in my second computer server 2003 operating system. In server 2003 I have my oracle database back end. The problem is that oracle is two slow and users are very disturbed it means I have installed front end of oracle in my clients users of domain. Now I am facing the issue of slow down of oracle. It will take a long time to perform a little activity. I have already gave heat and Greece to its processor, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

Jan 4, 2012Put bluntly, my laptop will not connect to any ftp site/server via any of the following methods:Command Line Software FTP Clients (Filezilla and other such programs) Windows Explorer (window) Browsers
However, if I try to use a WEB-BASED client, I am able to connect without a problem. What's stranger, if I try to connect to the same server on a different computer using the same wireless network (I'm running on Wifi), that computer has not problem connecting to the FTP server via all the methods mentioned above. So that should at least eliminate the wireless network itself from the list of possibilities.
And to the best of my knowledge it has nothing to do with the firewall as I've made every possible setting tweak to allow ftp connection in and out - I've even turned off the firewall and antivirus with no luck.
Which is why I have reason to believe it has to do with my laptop itself.
Computer Locks Up When Wireless Drops?
Feb 12, 2013Every time I use internet applications, browsers, game clients, games, etc. the computer will completely lock up and I am required to manually reboot it. All devices stop working and the only way to get it working again is to hard reset. I'm so fed up with it, and have tried virtually everything. On top of that, I am getting only 1-9 Mbps download speed, opposed to all my other wireless devices, which are getting 34-36, which is what my wired connection is.

16GB DDR3 Corsair
1000w Kingwin
Zotac 4gb GTX 680
240 Sandisk Ultra SSD
z77 AsRock Extreme 4 motherboard
D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N Wifi Card

Also, When first installing the card, I used to get around 34 Mbps, as this started occurring just in the past week or so. It works fine in other computers though and my signal strength is showing 100%.
Second Computer On Network Drops Connection
Oct 27, 2011My second computer on my network randomly drops out all the time. I have a WRT54G router that is working fine with my first computer (Windows 7) but the second computer (Windows XP) is having issues. It'll be running completely fine and you can even get on the internet after it's been on for a few hours but after a few minutes on the internet (10min about) it drops out completely and can't reconnect.

Mar 24, 2011I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

I have changed the power management option on the network card so it can't turn itself off, but it still goes to sleep after a certain amount of time.I've also tried with a different docking station and network cable in case that was an issue, but the same thing happens. Jan 17, 2010I'm having trouble keeping my server asleep. I've been thorough in my process of elimination, and have narrowed it down the DIR-655.
I am trying to get my server to go to sleep after say, 30 mins.. and stay asleep until either me, or my wife try to access a file on it. However, it wakes up around 30 seconds after going into sleep... every time.
I've disconnected everything else from the network, and it still does it. I've disconnected my modem from the router, thus having no WAN access, and it still does it.
No other software is running on the server that is waking it up. No tasks are running that can wake it up. However, if I pull the ethernet cable from the back of the rig, it sleeps just fine.
I've disabled DHCP as all machines have a static IP.
I'm at a loss as to what else to do now. Clearly the router is broadcasting something that keeps the server awake.
I hope so, otherwise the DIR-655 goes into the trash. I need the server to sleep when not required.
Cannot Communicate With Primary DNS Server After Sleep Mode?

My laptops are fine and can connect to the internet w/ the wireless however.When I have windows diagnostic run a troubleshoot and repair, it tells me it can't communicate w/ the primary DNS server and that resetting the Local Area Connection will fix it (And it does).If I restart the computer, it seems to fix this problem as well.I don't get why it can't communicate w/ the DNS and that I have to manually reset the LAC everytime I turn on the computer from sleep mode.

Jun 28, 2011I used to have ATT DSL but we recently switched to U-Verse. I have a Trendnet TEW-452BRP 54g wireless router than was handling the PPPoE function. It was set to work flawlessly with my wireless cards. No dropped connections, speed or security issues. It always connected quickly from wake up and on start up. Now we have a 2Wire i38HG wireless router/gateway and it's been difficult to properly set my network up as before. I use the Trendnet behind the 2Wire as my wireless router. Took me a while to figure out what to do, but DHCP is disabled on Trendnet so 2Wire does what it needs to. This option works fine for me. The only problem is that at first my wireless card would not automatically connect to the network through the Trendnet when it is in range like I had it set to do previously. When I would force it to, after 3 times it would magically connect on it's own. I made some changes in the Trendnet (Mainly disabling dynamic DNS and NAT) and that seems to have made a difference. To be honest, I don't know if that is significant or not or if it actually made a longterm difference but it seems like it has. So my problem is now that when I put my laptop to sleep and have it wake up, it does not automatically reconnect. It takes about 2 minutes then it does on its own. I read the event viewer and this is the info it gave me - Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x0018DE0682D8. The following error occurred: 0x79. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

Network Computers Losing Connection After Going To Sleep
Jun 15, 2011I have three computers on my network. Two are wired and one is wireless. I continually run into the probably of getting a limited connection after the computer goes to sleep and I wake it up. I attempt to automatically correct it, but this doesn't work. I try to use the command prompt with ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew and it doesn't work. Then I try to disconnect the adapter and it doesn't work. I also reset the modem and the router with no resolve. Most of the time the only thing that works is restarting the computer. In addition I do use DHCP static addresses for the computers on the network. What is causing this and how do I fixt it without restarting the computer?

Apr 30, 2013I am completely baffled by what is going on, on our network. We have four HP C4005 Printers. All of them connected to different switches around the network. About every 1-3 hours they all give the error 49FF09 (which is pretty vague, basically a network connectivity issue). Have to reboot to get rid of the error, then it will work again for an hour or so and give the same error (whether print jobs have been sent or not). This started a few days ago out of no where.
I am starting to think its an issue with the network, because they will all go offline at the same time. If I run a constant ping to them, they will all go offline at the same time and return the error. We use all cisco equipment. If I check the port statuses they all say up 100 full with no errors.
I have tried disabling sleep mode on the printers, turned off multicasting, updated firmware for printer and for jetdirect, and used different drivers.
