Server Missing From Computer Listing In Network Neighborhood
Aug 26, 2011
We have a network setup on a Domain. Yesterday all computers were talking to one another correctly and were visible. We had a Linksys e1500 Wireless router when everything was running smoothly. We upgraded to a Linksys e3200 and swapped it into the system pulling the e1500 out.
No settings or configurations were changed on the server or any of the client machines, but as soon as the e3200 was installed and put in place all client machines on the network were visible to one another but the server was not.
After scratching my head and not having a suitable answer I decided to just put the e1500 back into our infrastructure and remove the e3200. Imagine my dismay when the server was still missing but all other computers were visible on the domain. Obviously the e3200 wasn't and isn't the issue, but it was literally the only change we made to our system in that period between... visible server and no visible server.
Anything I can check for a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard that has mysteriously vanished without explanation when it has been working fine for 4 weeks prior without fault?
I recently install Windows8 Enterprise build 9200 on my Dell XPS L502X and everything is working fine so far except my modem. In device manager its installed properly but the network manager doesn't list it as an option to connect to (as it usually would in win7),
i am interested in setting up a neighborhood wifi network between myself and friends. presently i own an Asus Rt N66u router along with a Hawking Technology range booster but haven't been able to get sufficient range from this. is their any router or networking device that i can use to at least achieve like 1 mile network range and coverage, which should be more that sufficient to accommodate my networking needs?
I am just wondering how to set up a home network with an old computer used as a server... we will have a wii, ps3, lap top, and 2 desktops connected to the network as well as two dell printers. The laptop runs windows XP and the desktops run windows vista. The old computer will will use as a server is windows xp or windows 98 (most likely wont use that computer). What will i have to do to set this up and run the server as well as the network.
I have a new dell computerMy problem is the computer doesn't start-up and instead he pop-up the error message "BOOTMGR is Missing"I tried to install "windows 7 enterprise" but no success the problem has back again.
We have a Comcast business class cable modem with a static IP address. There are two devices hardwired to it; a server and a Linksys WRT610N, The server is hardwired to it with port forwarding set for ports 21, 80 and 5900. It works perfectly and can be reached as intended by the outside world but not by our own network. Our Linksys WRT610N is hardwired to the modem. All computers on the wireless network see each other and can access the internet perfectly. So all seems well enough. BUT, no computer on our network can reach our server. Using the domain name or VNC connections from inside our system results in time outs and no connection.
At my office we have a dell server running windows small business server 2003, there are around 15 computers on our network running mostly windows 7 (a few with XP). I am wondering how difficult it is to add a computer to the network so it can log into our domain and all that.I just had to reformat one of the computers and would normally wait for our network guy to do it remotely but If i could do it myself it would save time (and money). I am already an administrator and basically i just need to make it so the log in prompt when windows starts has our office network listed as the domain instead of jus the local log in. It is a dell running windows 7 64 bit.
My old dLink DIR-655 router could serve as an NTP server for all the computers on my network. It would get the time from the dLink NTP time source and allow me to sync all the systems on my home network off the DIR-655.
I had to replace it with this new E4200 but don't see an option for it to act as a time source for my internal network.
ACE 4710 software A3(2.7) [code] Why is the fail-on-all option missing from the serverfarm that is of type redirect? This option is something that I would actually need in a certain situation.
I came across an interesting issue and thought I would see if anyone else has encountered it before contacting TAC.I have two Cisco Catalyst WS-4510R-E switches with a single Supervisor V module in each chassis. Both Sup cards are now running 12.2(54) SG1; ipbasek9 firmware; yes, I plan to move both switches to 15 code but that's another story. Anyways, prior to the upgrade the one switch was running 12.2 (33) code; I suspect the code was never upgraded; running ipbase non - K9 code. The other switch was running 12.2(44) with K9 prior to upgrade to 12.2(54).

There is NO connection although Belkin Wireless Adaptor is blinking to catch signal.Whenever there is no connection, I need to click Belkins Utility at System tray at the bottom in order to get connection, however it does not keep connected and lasts only 10-20 minutes.Besides this, I found when I clicked, icon of Belkin > Properties > Network and found there is no 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.

I am trying to set up port forwarding on this router but it seems I need to use virtual servers but in all the guides there is a menu for this under the advance settings nat menu.I do not have that option, I have downloaded the latest firmware but still nothing.
When i try to connect to internet i get error message this computer does not have a network adapter installed and configured. i have opened device manager and there is no dropdown for network adapter, it was working fine untill this morning my computer is packard bell imedia x2414 with windows vista x 86 i previously had router connected with xbox 360 connected by wired connection and was working fine and upgraded my graphic card to nvidia 9400gt.
Yesterday there was huge storm, and lightning smashed into nearby house. My computer was running and I turned it off just after that. Result of nearby lightning was that internet no longer worked afterwards.
Soon after I was able to connect on my laptop, (laptop was connected and turned on during storm too) but desktop was still unable to do so.
I noticed that in device manager there is missing network adapter in list. EVerything is connected as it should be, but ethernet port doesnt have any lights on. I believe there should be some small light on port as is on my laptop, but Im unsure.
how I could check whether my network card is ok? Or what could the problem be? I really hope its just software issue.
I reformatted my PC in order to remove a corrupt AVP. I reinstalled the OS without a problem, but after I could not connect to the internet because it said I was missing my network drivers.where I can get these drivers? I have Win 7 64bit. I'm not sure what other information you'd need so just ask. Here is the previous thread where I dealed with the AV problem.
We can not get on line with our home computer (dial-up). The computer dials out, the modem at our ISP picks up and then hangs up - Error 720.[code] The last two were installed by Avira Antivirus, a program which we have uninstalled. Can I download support files for a network adapter? Windows XP SP3

Having just solved the missing network controller on my Dell Inspiron laptop I thought I would try the old Dell dimension 455-0 desktop I have. It too is missing the network controller, I can access web through wireless usb but not though cable or wireless. I have the disc but I can't install from it as I get message saying it is outdated. Tried Intel but the download ends prematurely and so doesnt work.
All network icons missing after running, spybot. In device manager/advanced - wirelss remains off, even after selecting 'wireless on' after selecting wirless on, and closing box, when I open the advance settings, wireless is off again
I have been using FrontPage 2003 successfully and recently as of 2 days ago...I wanted to edit the website and the files are ALL missing. UGH!!!! Its very frustrating that I cannot edit the website now and we are missing valuable information. I did see the files when I created a new Network Place with the prefix but I cannot edit and save to our website. Now I did ask MyHosting administrator but they are seriously taking longer to get back to me then needed. I can open Front Page, but of course, cannot publish anything to the website. More so, even just opening the files in server.com is the actual issue because I cannot change the website page. That's the files I need to change in Front Page. I did go to my account settings within myhosting server to the File Manager and YES! I could see all the files....but again I cannot save anything to the website or publish..I DID NOT DOWNLOAD anything over the past few days and have not gone to unauthorized websites that would have provided a virus. Everything else works fine.
PC experienced a 2sec power outage today and now the Wireless Network Adapter is missing from device manager. I've tried rebooting several times but no success. All other devices I have in the house can all connect to the router with no problems.
I have a HP mini when i go into network connections the wireless icon is gone... I'm not sure what happen... I have already looked in the device manager and nothing is highlighted or has a ? or X.

My hard-drive crashed, and I bought it refurbished, so I never got a Windows disc. I got a hard-drive from a friend, and I am trying to use it with my laptop, but it is missing the Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, and the PCI Controller drivers. I have searched all around, and I can not talk to Acer, for my warranty is past. They just want to repair it.
