Some time ago while of facebook i clicked on a link supposedly forwarded from a friend and some sort of flash player virus file was downloaded to my laptop. I proceeded to run a MAlwarebyte scan of the laptop and deleted the downloaded file.However, since then I've been unable to connect to facebook via Internet Eplorer or Goggle Chrome, and I'm getting the message 'Oops! Internet Explorer.

I have always been using internet explorer and have never had any trouble opening up web sites. However this week trouble has started when using a stock trading site. When I open up the "Home Page" of IG Index this opens in full no problem. But when I then click on the tab to open up the trading section section this opens but not fully. The tool bar across the top but the main body of the page, the frame, is blank. I have tried internet options, deleting history etc and disc clean up but to no avail. Have also tried system restore but no good. Have soken ti IG Index and they suggest changing from Internet Explorer to Firefox as my browser. I dont really want to do this as I am not a computer buff and I can see all sorts of complications arising if I change to Fire Fox

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small mixed peer-to-peer network comprising 2 Win7 PCs, an iMac and a Win7 laptop and 2 little file servers: a Netgear Stora and a LaCie-2big.Stora is correctly listed under the Network part of Windows Explorer, but LaCie isn't, although I have been able to map a drive to a share on LaCie.No problem accessing files etc.Why would the LaCie not be displayed in the Explorer file tree?

My connection on my wireless picks up great and shows signal strength as excellent. I took it to a place that was offering free check ups and they said that I caught a virus which I never seen any sign of catching a virus when it worked and that it had wiped out one of my hard drives and they could fix it for $229.00. I don't have that kind of money so I don't know what to do.

You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.
After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.
I can't connect to the internet through Google chrome or explorer, pages simply won't load.
-can't ping the pc from other pc but can ping the modem
- internet shows connected and receiving data
- all connections tight
- internet/wireless modem working fine working fine with my other pc/laptop
- all other programs on the pc seem to work fine
- I have changed no settings on the pc since I last used it and the internet
- I had not used the internet in approx 2 months on the problem pc
- I tried turning off the firewall.

I am in the process of opening an internet cafe. I dont know exactly what a pc server does on the network... or do I really need one? Is the switch/hub sufficent to connect all pcs to the moderm to connect to the internet?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a linux(fedora) which i use as a proxy. the proxy then connect to the router. the proxy also serves as my mail server (i use postfix). Problem is, since yesterday i discovered thta i cannot access the internet for any machine connected via the proxy (and any dhcp-assigned machines). As a result, even the webmail is not accessible from any machine.When i tried, i changed some computers so that they connect directly to the router -and they work fine for the internet. Problem is, I am still not able to access webmail.What could be the problem with the proxy.?(NB Postfix is running and http too is running).

View 11 Replies View RelatedSo, we've been trying to get our network ipv6 compatible and had to upgrade the IOS on our ASA 5510 to 8.4/Little did we know that upgrade to 8.4 would need me to change all out NATs and Access-lists. We have a 1-1 NAT configuration that I need to keep with a bunch of regular rules to different servers (http, ftp, rdp, etc..)
I've been able to change all of that and was able to test it out successfully in our test environment. But, when I moved this to our prod env, the servers aren't able to connect to the internet. I haven't changed any routes - no changes in IP's - just changing the ASA. [code]

Computer was bought refurbished and I believe XP had been re-installed and I am not sure if all the factory divers were properly re-installed...

I have disabled all firewalls and run diagnostics but it just tells me there is a problem with my router, despite the connection being perfect for other devices. You only want "Automatically detect settings" checked. The second check box if for a configuration script or the like to setup IE settings. That is really only used by company's that want specific home pages and other settings set to match their networks.If anything is checking in the "Proxy Server" area, I would uncheck it as you won't go through a proxy since you are connecting to a hotspot. It is pretty rare for public locations to use proxy servers.I connected to a hotspot that is available for Me to connect to.
