Windows XP User Can't Access Internet Explorer

I have 2 desktops and a laptop accessing a wireless Motorola modem using roadrunner broadband. My desktop/Vista and laptop/Windows 7 are working fine. My older desktop with XP has a wireless card and shows that the wireless is connected with great signal strength but won't access Internet Explorer. I keep getting an error message. I have tried re-setting up the wireless and shutting down the machine ,etc. I have seen a few older posts that suggest downloading some software, etc

I connected to a hotspot that is available for Me to connect to. I connected to one, then I went to the little bars to make sure it's actually connected, It says "Internet Access" (Windows 7) Which means it's connected. Then I clicked on Internet Explorer, to go on the Internet, and It says.. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I clicked on "Diagnose Connection problem" It started to detect the problem.. When it was finished it said.. "Website (Yahoo!) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts."
I went to Tools, Internet Options, LAN Settings, and I checked the First two boxes. Where it says "Address" I put in [URL]then I went back, and went on the Internet but It still says ---"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I went back to Tools, Internet Options, and took off [URL]then tried again, then I went back to the Internet but it still said the same thing saying-----"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Then I clicked on "Diagnose Connection problem" and it ---started detecting the problem.. and when it was finished detecting it said...---"Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings."
You only want "Automatically detect settings" checked. The second check box if for a configuration script or the like to setup IE settings. That is really only used by company's that want specific home pages and other settings set to match their networks.If anything is checking in the "Proxy Server" area, I would uncheck it as you won't go through a proxy since you are connecting to a hotspot. It is pretty rare for public locations to use proxy servers.I connected to a hotspot that is available for Me to connect to. Since some days we have a ASA5510, we connected it on a Windows Vista Laptop via ethernet cable (using at the back of the router the mgtm slot) and connect it on the network slot on the laptop. Laptop is getting IP addresses automatically.
Now we tried to reach the router in the Internet Explorer using: http://192.168.1.1, but we could not reach this site. When I try to ping the router via cmd and typing ping 192.168.1.1 I get answers.
For us it is very important to change the IP address of the router, as he will be used in a network with 10.xxx.xxx.xx addresses.

On the administrator side everything is fine, I can access the internet, my documents ect. We recently changed to AVG Virus protector
because with Windows Essentials had issues with a rogue Spyware Program saying we had viruses and wanted us to sign up
with some other people. So I have removed WE and now have AVG, the scan has run and it's all running well On my side of comp.
The problem is when I switch to my husband's side of the computer and click on the internet exp. the following message appears:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path or fil. You may not the the appropriate permissions. We have Microsoft Windows XP
Home Ed. 2002 Serv. Pack 3. He can access documents, but anything associated with the internet, this message appears.

I have this test windows 2008 r2 server. I can connect to the internet on this server.However my client xp machine, cannot see the server via windows explorer. I can however ping the windows 2008 r2 server. Using the servers ip of 192.168.1.230 Another thing is I cannot also remote to the server on the internal LAN. Using RDP.I ve even tried with firewalls turned off on the server for some mins.

I have some issues with win 7 64 bit pro. I have 3 computers on a cat 5 wired home LAN using a DGL-4500 router and in yhe same homegroup. All are gigabit capable. 2 are regular PCs, one is an HTPC. All have the latest drivers.1) File transfers never exceed 12% of the network capacity.2) If I transfer from computer A to computer B's public folder, I can transfer 1GB in a few minutes. However, if I attempt to copy/paste a file from Computer B's public folder to computer A, computer A takes forever "discovering" the file, then gives some absurd transfer time, say 11 hours for the same file.3) If however I go to computer B and paste the same file into Computer A's public folder, the transfer takes only a few minutes.
4) If at any point during scenario #2 I right-click B's public folder from A during a transfer, I get the spinning circle forever which 90% of the time results in Explorer hanging and requiring the process to be killed/restarted.

I have a small mixed peer-to-peer network comprising 2 Win7 PCs, an iMac and a Win7 laptop and 2 little file servers: a Netgear Stora and a LaCie-2big.Stora is correctly listed under the Network part of Windows Explorer, but LaCie isn't, although I have been able to map a drive to a share on LaCie.No problem accessing files etc.Why would the LaCie not be displayed in the Explorer file tree?

My Samsung phone is working as it should as an USB device (using KEIS and such). However though it receives ip address from DIR-655 router and is registered by MAC address in router - also possible to ping its IP from windows I cannot see it in /Network from my WIN7 64bit OS? The desktop comp is wired to the router, phone is on wireless.
I ve tried several settings and almost had it. It did work some months ago...

I replaced my D-link router with a new EA4500 last night.I can get to the internet, I set up 2 computers wirelessly, I set up a printer wirelessly.I am struggling with the NAS.I have a D-link DNS-323 which was previously connected to the D-link router via ethernet cable and worked fine.The Cisco Connect software does NOT have the ability to "connect" an ethernet-connected device, only USB or wireless.Windows Explorer does not see the DNS.The DNS- 323 has a fixed IP address which I know. I type it into my browser and it can't find it.I have shut down the DNS and unplugged the power for a full reset.I am running Win 7 Ultimate on my PC.

We're planning to ope a coffee house for teens at my church. We want the internet to be accessible to them but want to restrict what sites they can access so homework, games, etc. can be accessed but not the stuff rated for violent, rrisky behaviors.

I suddenly can't connect to the internet using IE or Firefox every time I try I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". My connection on my wireless picks up great and shows signal strength as excellent. I took it to a place that was offering free check ups and they said that I caught a virus which I never seen any sign of catching a virus when it worked and that it had wiped out one of my hard drives and they could fix it for $229.00. I don't have that kind of money so I don't know what to do.

Used to access the FTP server using "My computer" as some reason we cannot use the IE explorer to direct access...However, under the Windows 8 enviornment, it just prompt out "No Such Interface Supported" and cannot direct open the file... but only can copy/copy to folder etc...

No connectivity for any application other than Internet Explorer.Can not update any applications. Can not sign in to any apps, such as Paltalk, AIM, etc.Internet Explorer runs fine.
Computer Specs:
-Compaq Evo N800c
-Windows XP SP3
-Pentium 4 - M 2.0ghz 1.99ghz
-512MB RAM
Computer was bought refurbished and I believe XP had been re-installed and I am not sure if all the factory divers were properly re-installed...

I have always been using internet explorer and have never had any trouble opening up web sites. However this week trouble has started when using a stock trading site. When I open up the "Home Page" of IG Index this opens in full no problem. But when I then click on the tab to open up the trading section section this opens but not fully. The tool bar across the top but the main body of the page, the frame, is blank. I have tried internet options, deleting history etc and disc clean up but to no avail. Have also tried system restore but no good. Have soken ti IG Index and they suggest changing from Internet Explorer to Firefox as my browser. I dont really want to do this as I am not a computer buff and I can see all sorts of complications arising if I change to Fire Fox

I am getting the error message "internet explorer cannot display the webpage", my computer tells me i am connected to my wireless and that internet is available but it will not open any webpages, no matter which browser i try. I have disabled all firewalls and run diagnostics but it just tells me there is a problem with my router, despite the connection being perfect for other devices. My computer is relatively new and i'm sure its not a virus as i have run different anti-virus and malware softwares.

Some time ago while of facebook i clicked on a link supposedly forwarded from a friend and some sort of flash player virus file was downloaded to my laptop. I proceeded to run a MAlwarebyte scan of the laptop and deleted the downloaded file.However, since then I've been unable to connect to facebook via Internet Eplorer or Goggle Chrome, and I'm getting the message 'Oops! I come here today with a problem that has been plaguing this laptop forever and a day. You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.
After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.

can open in safe mode only. This is my son's laptop. Yesterday it started not opening up Internet explorer. I ran Mcafee last night. I can open Internet explorer in safe mode but not regular. I checked the proxy it is checked. I am uncertain what else to look at.

I Have a problem with Internet connections. My laptOp will connect to Skype but not to Internet explorer. No error message appears, it just struggles to load web page.
