Wireless works fine as my iPad connects easily.Have looked at previous postings on the site that looked similar and reset the ie tools section to default..Recently had norton security expire and have uninstalled all of norton program.Have just signed up to new online security package through my Internet provider called Homesafe.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just reinstalled XP on my Dell inspiron 1100. Everything works good expect I can't connect wireless to the internet. I use my Ethernet cable and everything works great. The wireless setting say's I'm connected with excellent strength, also I have an IP address. I went to disk management and check for conflicts and noticed the PCI modem was yellow. I was told to disable it because I don't use a modem so it should not be a problem.

My connection on my wireless picks up great and shows signal strength as excellent. I took it to a place that was offering free check ups and they said that I caught a virus which I never seen any sign of catching a virus when it worked and that it had wiped out one of my hard drives and they could fix it for $229.00. I don't have that kind of money so I don't know what to do.

You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.
After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.
I can't connect to the internet through Google chrome or explorer, pages simply won't load.
-can't ping the pc from other pc but can ping the modem
- internet shows connected and receiving data
- all connections tight
- internet/wireless modem working fine working fine with my other pc/laptop
- all other programs on the pc seem to work fine
- I have changed no settings on the pc since I last used it and the internet
- I had not used the internet in approx 2 months on the problem pc
- I tried turning off the firewall.

I have a Toshiba 650 laptop it was Windows 7, the hard drive broke so I bought a new hard drive and fitted into the laptop and installed windows vista ultimate now I can't get on-line it won't connect by cable from the router or wireless I put my CD in from BT to connect and it failed to load the internet what do I need to do?

I have not been able to connect to my wireless network.I have downloaded and installed the drivers and installed in the recommended order. Issue is that I cannot get a dynamic IP address issued to me. It says I am on the network, but the only packets are outgoing. View 3 Replies View RelatedThis issue just started happening. I have a Sierra Wireless Aircard 595 plugged into a WRT54G3G-ST. I will be browsing the internet and all of a sudden, I get the message that Internet Explorer cannot find the web page. At that point, I cannot get to any website. I have several PC's, both wired and wireless connected and they all have the same problem,. I have tried Google Chrome, Firefox and IE9 and all browsers have the same issue. My email continues to download through Outlook, I can use WS FTP and I can also log in to a remote computer using Logmein. It is just browser access that is affected.
There is no set time table to the error. Sometimes it happens within minutes, sometimes it is 30 minutes and sometimes it is over an hour. The only way out of it is to either unplug the router, let it set 30 seconds, then plug it back in or I found that I can go into the setup and do a disconnect from mobile broadband and reconnect and it starts working again. Of course, Sprint says they do not deal with issues unless the card is plugged directly into my PC, which is not the environment that I am running in (even though I bought the router and card from them.) Does Linksys still make a mobile broadband router?
Since some days we have a ASA5510, we connected it on a Windows Vista Laptop via ethernet cable (using at the back of the router the mgtm slot) and connect it on the network slot on the laptop. Laptop is getting IP addresses automatically.
Now we tried to reach the router in the Internet Explorer using: http://192.168.1.1, but we could not reach this site. When I try to ping the router via cmd and typing ping 192.168.1.1 I get answers.
For us it is very important to change the IP address of the router, as he will be used in a network with 10.xxx.xxx.xx addresses.

I booted up, noticed that my internet connection would go from the red x to the swirly blue to say it was connecting, but back to the red x. I installed drivers from my MB CD just to get them on there, and I installed the LAN drivers that came with it. No luck.I go to Device Manager and see that it has my reltek LAN ethernet driver in there, NIC(NDIS 6.2) #3 So, then I checked the cable, I assumed this wasn't the issue, but just double checked. It worked in this laptop I'm using now. Then, I tried to window trouble shoot it. IT says a network cable is not properly plugged int(false, i tested the cable)It then says, Local Area Connection 2 doesn't' have a valid IP configuration.I went into CMD and typed /ipconfig release and renew I would get No operation can be performed on local area connection 2 while its has its media disconnected and An error occurred while renewing interfaces local area connection 2 : The operation was cancel by the used.

When I look in device manager, there is a yellow question mark next to Ethernet Controller (along with some other devices). I have identified that I have a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Controller (don't know the term for exactly what I am looking to find drivers for, is it just the "ethernet chip"? or "ethernet controller?"). But now my connection has dropped massivly to 40kbs being the peak. The internet was faster in the stone ages -_-. Anyway, i want to figure out if its the wires in the area being faulty or as someone told me it might be my wireless router (Netgear). I'm trying to plug my laptop directly into the internet without the use of wireless to find out if it is the router being the problem. The only cable i could find an ethernet to ethernet cable. I've tried plugging into router and a bit that said modem and tried to set up a connection. It didnt work so connect my laptop to the internet without the wireless router.

After I connected the ethernet cable to the router and plugged everything in, I installed the program from the CD that it came with. After the whole process, it says "You are now connected to the internet!". Yeah well when I try to get on the internet, it suddenly takes the connection off. On my wifi status, it says it's not connected anymore. When I try to connect again, it says I'm connected, although if I get on internet explorer, it takes off the connection again. Though when it is connected, it says no internet connection available although I am connected to the router. So basically, I'm connected to the router, but not the router to the internet.

The laptop can find our connection, it says "Connected". However it then says "Internet access denied".

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have always been using internet explorer and have never had any trouble opening up web sites. However this week trouble has started when using a stock trading site. When I open up the "Home Page" of IG Index this opens in full no problem. But when I then click on the tab to open up the trading section section this opens but not fully. The tool bar across the top but the main body of the page, the frame, is blank. I have tried internet options, deleting history etc and disc clean up but to no avail. Have also tried system restore but no good. Have soken ti IG Index and they suggest changing from Internet Explorer to Firefox as my browser. I dont really want to do this as I am not a computer buff and I can see all sorts of complications arising if I change to Fire Fox
