View 1 RepliesI just got ClearWire and frankly it's really good but only when wired directly to the modem. The wireless is a joke, my roommates can't even get a stable connection 20 feet away. So I was trying to hook up my DIink DIR-655 up to the WIXFPR-131 modem and it won't let me.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem. Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.

VCI: These 2 already came with presets. Should I just leave them?

Is there any way to clear the archived DHCP list on the Belkin F5D7230-4 wireless router? Over the years there have been a lot of connections, most are no longer around but the Belkin holds on to the list. I can find no way to clear it to get it back to what is currently connected. I have tried a soft reboot, unplugging power etc but it seems like I will have to do a factory reset and apart from not being able to find my ADSL login details, I would have to reset all my settings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an EA6500 router to replace the crappy Westell 7550 AT&T provided me with. The 7550 was easily hooked up with two cords: the Ethernet cord into the computer and the Internet/data cable hooked into the DSL filter. I thought the EA6500 would have an easy installation, but it has not gone so smoothly. I hypothesize it's one of two problems - either the Internet/data cable is incompatible with the EA6500 (the cable works; I've re-tested it on the 7550), or it is because all instructions mention plugging the Internet/data cable into a modem's port while I do not have a modem. My Internet comes from a DSL filter attached to a telephone jack in the wall.

Since the restart it has never stopped cycling the boot sequence without end. The download lights cycle and the router light flashes constantly. And I am unable to connect to the router page at 192.168.2.1 So I cannot reset the router, the hardware reset button just momentarily pauses the endless booting process.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin "ADSL 2+ Model with Wireless G" router suddenly stopped allowing wireless access this afternoon - right in the middle of use - although the wired connections to that router still work fine. No settings seem to have been changed on the router, and I'm the only one with access. Two phones and a laptop that normally work fine just won't get an connection. The laptop - running windows 7 - says the configuration saved did not match what the router was asking for. I tried another computer that doesn't normally connect by wireless and was prompted for a WEP key - which is odd because the router is configured for WPA/WPA2 AES access with a 9 character pre-shared key. After trying a key unsucessfully I haven't been able to get that prompt up again.Meanwhile I've gone into the router settings and it's definitely set to ask for WPA/WPA2. There are some WEP keys specified if I use the drop-down menu to select WEP, but I can't get any device to prompt me to enter one now.

IP Pooling End 192.168.2.100
Lease time: forever
LAN/DHCP Client List is empty. With the previous modem the IP addresses of the machines were from 192.168.1.2 upwards, but the new modem considers this range invalid.(This isn't specifically an XP problem as one of the machines is Window-7).

I had a working LAN/WLAN for my home & home office, and the modem I was using got fried by the storm. Strangely enough nothing else was affected..Anyway, I went out and bought an identical modem, and had it set up with Comcast. If I connect directly to the modem, everything works perfectly. But when I try to attach my router to the new modem, I have no connectivity over wifi OR hardwired to the router. According to the status light on the router, it can't find a connected modem.I reset the router back to factory settings, installed the newest firmware, and moved my DHCP pool out of the default range. I then power cycled the whole setup - twice - with no success.
