View 1 RepliesI have just got a new laptop from work (Lenovo T410) but cannot seem to access the internet via wireless at home. The wireless mode at home is 802.11n. On my previous laptop (a Lenovo T60), I had to buy a belkin N Wireless USB adapter and used that. But I don't think I need to use it on the T410, right? When I switch the T410 on, the Access Connections box comes on and I can see all the different wireless networks available and they have good strength, but I just cannot connect, I don't know why? I have entered the 10 digit encryption key.

It doesnt matter what network I use , it does the same thing. When the connection is lost it will also cause any other wifi devices (computers, phones) to lose there connection and have to reconnect. I have tried just about anything and everything including using an external usb wifi.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad U310. I'm very satisfied with everything about it... except for one little problem. It constantly drops the wireless connection, unless I'm in the same room as the router. If I'm in the same room, everything runs super fast, however, if I'm across the house or upstairs (the router is downstairs), it'll drop connection every 20-30 minutes. The weird thing is, other devices (4 laptops & 3 iPhones) work just fine. Even my old HP laptop has fine connection upstairs, so I'm starting to think it's a problem with my laptop's wireless card.Another thing that makes me think it's the laptop's problem... I was with my dad at a public library using their wifi the other day. The card is Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200. I've updated the driver directly from the Intel website, but no luck. I've tried changing channels, no luck. I'm not sure what else I can do. Is it just simply because the laptop has a weak wireless network card? It can't be the router's problem right? Since all other devices work?I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core i5, and since the laptop is new, I haven't downloaded/installed anything that may have brought in a virus.

1. Comcast cabel modem with highest speed of 8Gb.
2. Linksys E1000 router
3. three devices-- Lenevo W500 laptop(2 years old), Nook(latest) and Lenevo G550 (6months old)
4. Earlier I had WRT54G router and all were working fine.
Now, I replaced WRT54G with E1000 router and symptoms are below.
a) on my W500 laptop, it works fine with Wired connection but when I switch to wireless, the internet speed reduces drastically in 10 minutes and finally crawls..
b) other devices (nook and Lenevo G550 are working fine withwireless)
Called Linksys support and they blamed on laptop and comcast cable.
I have Lenovo N100 , today i installed a new xp window but after that my laptop is not detecting network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my Lenovo y560. One of the members here had the same prob. but his thread is closed,so i can't write him anymore. PM also doesn't work.[URL]"...I have a Lenovo Y560 that worked fine up excepting a keyboard issue that I fixed based on a youtube posting. The fix was to tape a small piece of antistatic tape under the keyboard over a screwlike piece of metal. Apparently that metal was causing static by rubbing against the keyboard data cable. It fixed the problem. Previous to the fix, various keyboard keys prompted shortcut keys (maddening and couldn't type). After assembling the keyboard and the top of the keyboard pad (was very careful to not bring static and assemble properly), the wireless connection began to drop. I have another laptop (Asus) with a similar set-up but a Centrino wifi card (vs. Intel 1000 bgn for the Lenovo) and it was connecting to the wifi no problem. Often, I'll see a yellow sun symbol over the wifi bars or a blue animated circle or a red x. Changing the standard settings does not work. Attaching an ethernet cable brings up a perfect connection.
1) I've covered an antenna of some sort with the anti-static plastic (pea-sized piece).
2) My wifi card is bad and coincidentally went out when I fixed the other problem above.
3) When the keyboard problem existed, I hit a shortcut that reconfigured the wifi somehow (but it worked fine before I opened up the keyboard.
I'm using a Lenovo Y 560 using a wireless connection to an Apple Airport extreme. I have been using this set up for a few months without any problems. However, recently, my computer has been disconnecting at random time for 30-60 seconds. There isn't any lag before or after and this occurs when gaming or browsing. The weird thing is, there are about 15 other PCs and Macs using the airport and none of them are experiencing this problem. I used my 'one key recovery' button and restored my computer to the factory default and updated/reinstalled all wireless drivers and the problem still persists. At this point I'm stumped, any suggestions?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble keeping my lenovo laptop (running windows 8) connected to the internet. I have been able to connect successfully to multiple wireless networks and access the internet until I tried to connect to the new network.Initially everything is OK - I can connect to the network and access the internet. However after a short period of time (anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes) the network connection will change to limited, without internet access. If I simply disconnect and reconnect to the network the internet will immediately be working again (at least for a few seconds/minutes)alternatively, if I run the troubleshooter, I always get the message that the default gateway is not available, which has been fixed by resetting the wi-fi adapter.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a lenovo G560 laptop. The specs say that it has gigabit ethernet. But I seem to only be able to get 10/100 on it. I have looked at the device control and can only find 10 or 100, half or full duplex; or auto negotiation under speed and duplex. My router is showing the connection as 100m rather than the 1000m it shows for my other gigabit devices. The device is labeled as Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Lenovo Ideapad y500 a few days ago, and the internet speed has been incredibly slow from the get-go. Loading images on pages takes way longer than it should, I can't watch streaming videos that last 4 minutes without it pausing to buffer every 5-10 seconds. It took about 20 minutes to download a 50mb file. My 4 year old laptop loads everything way faster, especially when downloading files. I did a ping test on both and everything was about the same, except I got a download speed of .75 mb/s on the new laptop, and between 12-17 mb/s on the old laptopI did a few ping tests, and this is what I got:Ping: 25 msDownload speed: .75 mbpsUpload speed: 4.10 mpbs.
And then I tried the same test with the laptop plugged directly in to the router with the ethernet cable and I got a ping of 20 + download speed of 25.12 mbps, and I tried loading a few youtube videos and they ran perfectly. Then I ran the test again over wifi, only this time I ran it sitting right next to the router. Still got download speeds of about 20 mbps. As soon as I got back to my room (which isn't that far from the router) the download speed dropped back to ~.80 and everything went back to loading slow again. The thing is, running the test from the exact same spot in my room on my old laptop, I still was able to get download speeds of around 18 mbps. My network card is an Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 and the router is Linksys WRT150N wireless-n.I've tried downloading the wireless drivers from Lenovo, and it didn't change anything. So those are up to date. There were no firmware updates available for the router on Linksys' site

And only 100mbs Ethernet.Yesterday my brother tried to stream via wired connection some very high bit rate 1080p movies, which unfortunately, some stutter/buffer a little, or had video glitches every 5 secs.I want to try gigabit Ethernet, is there a way to get gigabit Ethernet on my laptop with only esata and USB 2.0 available connections?? And if there is, do they really work??

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop (Lenovo g560) runs windows 7 Home ed. About 3 months ago my parents changed the wifi password and so my laptop was unable to connect to our home internet, and I never bothered to fix it. It's been 3 months and now when I need to connect, it won't. The network appears in the list of detected networks, i correctly typed in the new requirements of the SSID, and when i press 'connect' it instantly pops up with 'Windows was unable to connect to XXXXXXX'. The modem is from Netgear. I've tried switching the modem off and on, the wireless activation swith on my laptop off and on, the Fn+F5 for wireless and bluetooth off and on, reinstalled drivers etc.I know its not a problem with my modem as wifi works for other mobile devices (like my iphone, other laptops etc), and my laptop has no problem connecting to the uni wifi network. There only seems to be a problem with connecting my laptop to the home network. Perhaps i've tried fiddling around with the 'properties' of the network too much and I've accidentally changed some settings i was not supposed to? how to restore the wireless settings of this network 'back to default' or in the state it was when i was able to connect.

how to use a computer in the time before Windows, comfortable with using command prompt. Have fixed many issue over the years with old and crappy computers, through research. Not very familiar with wireless connections. Last week laptop started freezing on Windows load, going automatically to safe mode. If I restart the computer after loading in safe mode, Windows opens fine the second time. Have tried stopping all other programs from loading at start up. If I do a system restore, everything works fine for a few days, then starts freezing on Windows load again. When Window does load I get the application error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002) click ok to close. but can still log in to Windows. Also, When I plug my cell phone, via USB to computer it charges fine and can upload and download between the phone and laptop, however, if I connect a (USB) thumb drive I cannot open the folder, save to it or open from it. This is the issue I wish to fix first so I don't have to keep switching between my ancient and slow CPU and my Laptop trying to fix the above problem(s): Laptop recently stopped connecting to home WiFi (automatically or manually.) Ran troubleshooters, suggested I do a full power off the router and turn it back on. Did that still not connecting. Did a full power off of laptop and modem and router and restarted everything. Still doesn't work. Used manual Diagnostic tool and it fails the association test, suggests that I check the profile. I don't know much about wireless as I said, so I do not know what profile I need to check or where it is located. The laptop does connect sporadically to the internet at home, via WiFi, for a few minutes at a time on its own, according to the wireless network connections. During this time I see one of two messages in wireless network connections: Unidentified network or limited access. If I go into the network sharing centre it says I am connected to an unidentified public network and shows that this network is not connecting to the internet. If I use the manual diagnostic tool at this time it passes the association test but fails the ping test.
Distance from the router does not seem to make a difference.Often when it is disconnected I cannot even see my router in the list of available wireless network connections.I can connect wireless to the router from my phone and have had no problems even while the laptop is unable to connect and the old CPU I am currently on, which is a wired connection, has had no trouble either. Other things I tried:I've scanned for hardware changes in my network connections: none and tried updating my driver software: nothing to update all are enabled.
I uninstalled all of the Lenovo built-in remote assistance software, but still am getting an error on initiating the VPN.When I try to run the client, I'm asked to select the Group, enter the Username and Password, which I do.
I get a message saying "Establishing VPN - Repairing VPN adapter", then it crashes and reports: "AnyConnect was not able to establish a connection to the specified secure gateway. Please try connecting again."
