View 1 Replies View RelatedI have three laptops (running ubuntu with different kernel versions) with wireless adapter Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945 ABG. Laptop A ----- Laptop B ----- Laptop CI created an adhoc connection in laptop A with: Essid: 'ad_hoc', IP address: 10.42.43.1, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 0.0.0.0, Now the laptops B and C can see the wireless connection 'ad_hoc' and I can connect to them after setting IP 10.42.43.1 and 10.42.43.2 respectively. So, I created the adhoc connection between 3 laptops. Now, I wanted to check the bandwidth between the different paths. The tool iperf was what I used for TCP bandwidth calculation. The bandwidth between A and B was around 4.5 Mbps , between A and C was around 4.0 Mbps but the bandwidth between B and C (B being server) was 677 kbps whereas C being server was 3.99. I don't understand how can the bandwidth drop so high when B was made the server. The system adapters are identical.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm on the road traveling and am having trouble with receiving an ip conflict error message shortly after connecting my windows 7 laptop to this particular hotels wireless network. Shortly after connecting to the correct access point is when the msg appears. I've checked my wireless adapters IPv4 TCPIP properties and ensured Use DHCP is enabled and that IPv6 is disabled. I've done a release and renew on the address after connecting as well (ipconfig /release and renew)to still no avail. Oddly enough, my internet connection works great in the morning at this hotel but has this problem at night time. Are there any known issues with 7 or such a thing as a Windows 7 "unfriendly" wireless router? I don't have this problem at home on my Linksys wireless router. Works fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a WRVS4400N as my primary router for a small office. I get the following message repeated over and over in my logs. This seems to happen for 2 or 3 days and then it will go away for about a week and then come back. What is causing this? The best I can tell I don't have any IP conflicts on the network and most of the time the network has very little traffic other than 2 or 3 computers surfing the web. [code]

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have a new 2911 that needs to be configured, unfortunately it's at a remote site. I had installed the following config: [code]
Now, I do get a dhcp ip on the G0/0 interface and I can ping it from my remote network and the local router as well as the local lan. The hands and eye guy is able to telnet from the local lan but I am unable to telnet from either my remote lan or the local router. The only error I receive is "connection refused by remote host". All lines are clear so I have no conflicts with multiple telnet sessions.
I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-ray player that allows a bunch of networking options including wireless and wired. I was using the wired option when I came across some conflicts with my network using a Linksys WRT350N v1. The Samsung conflicted with the Linksys's DHCP server. The blu-ray player turns off automatically when inactive. It was causing conflicts with my iPad 2, MacBook Pro and Motorola Atrix android phone whenever it got assigned an IP address. When I reset the router and my cable modem, it wasn't assigned an address for awhile, which fixed things, but as soon as it got an address again, it was caused conflicts by being seen as a LAN by my router. When it wasn't receiving an address, it got the automatic private IP address of 169.x.x.x. When I removed the connection with my router, the conflicts disappeared and my computers were able to access my wifi again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm trying to configure a 7204 for radius login authentication, although the router is also configured with radius for VPN access. How can I configure it for both using 2 different raidus servers? the login via radius is working fine on another router, although that one is not doing VPN access so there's no conflict.
My config:
aaa group server radius RADIUS_AUTH server x.x.3.11 auth-port 1645 acct-port 1646
aaa authentication login networkaccess group radius local
[Code]....
For some reason, this does not work. I cannot access the router and authenticate via x.x.3.11 radius server. I think there's a conflict between the VPN and the login authentication but im unsure how to resolve this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 older xp pro tough books that connect to my domain via a pair of versa vx 400 access points. automobile technicians use these computers to communicate with cars via a separate wireless card and WiFi device (SPX MVXI) that broadcasts a wireless signal.they always connect just fine to the network but sometimes they drop there connection and don't rejoin which screws up my scheduled tasks (nightly upload). They will reacquire the connection every time if i select it again manually in the windows wireless config.here is what I have done so far
1. set up exclusion range in DHCP distribution on my DC
2. set the laptops up with static IP's within the exclusion range.
3. configured the laptops to auto connect to the network even when its not broadcasting
4. set the access points on channel 7, and the devices on 1 and 11.
I have done a lot of research on this issue, a rep from versa told me that Intel proset wireless isn't very compatible with there product which i this is BS since it does the same with with the netgear WiFi PC cards.
My wife has a little Dell Mini running Windows 7 Starter. It connects to the network but gets a message that it cannot connect to the internet. Other laptops on the network CAN connect. This issue is new, the laptop has been fine up until a few days ago.
Per a separate thread, I went to the command prompt to try to run the ipconfig all but it comes up as user/owner and I don't know how to get to admin mode. Also, the proxy option is unchecked.
I have battling this issue since I bought this router, at least 2 years.
Using:
DIR-615
PC XP Wired
2 Acer laptops Vista wireless
All DHCP reserved
Security using wpa_psk
Not sure what other router info you need. All are connected to the internet, but can't see each other on the LAN. We can see each other from time to time. Sharing is allowed. Passwords are shared. I can power off the router and the network will be fine for about a day, then gone again. Workgroups are the same.
Here's the layout: Cable modem in the basement. Several devices in which I'd prefer a wired connection in the basement. Upstairs on the 1st and 2nd floor of the house are many devices in which wifi is fine or preferred. Here's the problem: As you might guess, wifi is weak upstairs and certainly on the patio and 2nd floor. I have an access point upstairs that I've experimented with but it is flaky.

I want to get the modem and router out of my computer room and in the basement where the cable enters the house. I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet. I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired. I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.
