How To Watch Live Streaming Events From Pc On Tv With Wifi

Dec 19, 2011

What I want to do is be able to control my PC from my TV screen. I mean I want to be able to stream a live ball game or movie I have on my PC hard drive & see it on my TV. I heard about Roku & thought that is what I wanted or Blueray with DLNA. But Roku just pulls streams from subscriber sites like Netflix & Hulu. DLNA will allow you to view video you have on your HDD but will not let you stream live feeds like watching a live event that is streaming on your PC. Is there any hardware out there that will allow me to have whats on my PC screen on my TV screen via wifi (or other means)?

D-Link :: DIR 615 - Live Streaming Video On Websites

Apr 13, 2013

i've lost the ability to view live streaming video (adobe flash, i think) on several websites.  it happened gradually over several weeks and now videos will not load.  the dir-615 has functioned flawlessly over several years but it might be showing its age now.  connecting directly to my com cast broadband modem fixes the problem.  can i tweak the router settings or do i need to replace it?

my setup:  dir-615,  H/W Ver. E1,  F/W Ver. 5.00NA,  two wired connections to X Box's and one to Win 7 PC.  wireless connections to several Win 7 laptops and other tablets/phones.   com cast high speed broadband with their Norton security suite.

if replace.....i need a recommendation.  the best bang for a buck while staying within a tight budget.

Cisco :: VLAN Implementation To Live And Running Network?

Mar 27, 2012

Just wanted to get a few answers in regards to VLAN implementation (thinking about doing this for a large network)...VLAN's always sound good on paper, but how hard/easy are they to implement to a live and running network?

1.) Have successfully implemented VLAN's into a production environment (e.g. placed servers, production, printers, etc. on separate VLAN's)?

2.) How much of a pain is it to do this? If you are on a 192.168.1.x subnet, do you have to re-IP all of your printers, switches, etc. This sounds like a lot of work – especially since re-IP’ing domain controllers is a royal pain.

3.) Have you seen much of a performance increase when implementing VLAN’s (i.e. chatty protocols and broadcasts?)

Laptop Drops Connection When Streaming On Specific Network?

Oct 9, 2011

my laptop, which connects fine to all other wireless networks, has trouble on this one. It can browse the web all day, but the second a large file begins to transfer (video, a file download, etc.) it will drop the connection randomly, usually rather quickly. The computer does not need to be restarted to reconnect, it often reconnects on its own near-immediately, though sometimes I have to go to the system tray and reconnect manually.I thought it was too far from the router, but my tower in the same room connects flawlessly, and going in to the same room as the router doesn't work. This same laptop has been fine on every other network, and every other computer is fine on this network. I've web crawled off and on about this for months, but no one's problem is limited to one computer/network combination.

Home Network :: Managed Switch Selection For Video Streaming?

Jul 27, 2011

looking to pick a good managed gigabit switch for my central media server implementation.I will have probably 10-12 tvs connected to this along with other things like ip pbx extensions, music streamers, ip cameras etc.Now I can imagine about 2-3 tvs simultaneously streaming HD quality movies. In that case, I am assuming I will need a minimum 150-200mbps throughput switch. Is my assumption wrong?I have been looking at some switches which seem nice and relatively inexpensive but the throughput is much lower than that.If I wouldnt need that kind of throughput then can you explain me how do I come up with my max limit.I initially thought that since its going to be a gigabit switch it would be able to handle that kind of traffic through all its port at once, but I guess thats not a correct assumption. Throughput is what reall dictates simultaneous maximum? Am I correct?

Home Network :: Using Switch Causes Local 1080p Streaming To Buffer?

Sep 25, 2011

I began having a problem with streaming 1080p content from my media server to a router, wired to a switch that serves a few devices in my home theater (including a HTPC, my Boxee Box). Every 15 seconds movies have to buffer. After a while, I narrowed it down to the switch, since wiring the Boxee Box straight to the router caused the movies to run perfectly.Logically, I thought the switch was the problem, since I really made no changes on my network/DD-WRTRouter other than running a Minecraft server (which shutting that down made no difference in network performance). I ordered a brand new gigabit switch, same problem. Pinging the BoxeeBox returns 0 packet loss whether it's connected to the switch or router, but movies still play perfectly fine when directly connected to the router. Different cables didn't work.

I thought maybe the other devices on that switch were causing some sort of conflict.changed the BoxeeBox's static IP just in-case, unplugged every other device from the switch so that only the BoxeeBox and Router were connected to the switch. It worked fine! Yay! Tried a different cable, still worked fine. Great, I thought, so the problem was never my switch... plugged the old switch back in, then the problem returned. Ugh. Changed back to my new switch (each time power cycling all of the network devices) and the problem persisted, even with the SAME EXACT setup I just had a few minutes previously that worked fine. Tearing my hair out at this point.Since that moment I still haven't been able to reproduce a perfect stream unless the BoxeeBox is directly connected to the router. This doesn't make ANY sense as I had this setup running perfectly fine since November 2010. I am COMPLETELY out of ideas other than running multiple ethernet wires to that drop or running all the other devices on wireless.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS To Connect Xbox Live Using Home Network

Nov 29, 2007

I have a xbox 360 that I want to connect to xbox live with, using my home network. Every time I try to connect to xbox live the only part that fails is the connecting to xbox live part. This is how my network is set up. I have Cox Cable as my ISP, a Linksys WCG200 gateway(v2), and WRT54GS(v7). The cable wire is connected to the WCG200 gateway, then an Ethernet cable connects the gateway to the WRT54GS router, and finally an Ethernet cable connects the router to my xbox 360. I have contacted Cox, Linksys, and Microsoft about the situation and they all say the problem is the version of the router. Someone told me that I may just need to change the firmware, but I don't know how to do that.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Drops Network Shares WDTV Streaming

Jan 3, 2013

Basically I use the WDTV to stream movies from my PC and external harddrive (which is plugged straight into the router) to my TV. The WDTV has a "Network Shares" section and my PC and harddrive usually appear here.

The only way I can get them to show is to reboot the router each time I want to use the WDTV player.

Is there a setting on the router which I need to enable/disable which will prevent the network shares drop?

Connect To XBOX Live Using PC?

May 2, 2012

I just bought a new television so thought I would finally be able to get to play xbox live in a television away from the router! But of course like always there is is problems....

I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.

However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!

I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.

My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.

Streaming Videos From PC To PS3?

Dec 11, 2011

I have some 1080p video files on my PC. Since my PC isn't powerful enough to play the files smoothly, I have been streaming the content to my PS3 using Windows 7 media sharing.

This works well with no noticeable loss of quality.

My problem is that I have to go into the services on my PC and restart the WMPNetworkSvc service every time I switch the PS3 on, otherwise the PS3 doesn't detect the PC.

how to make this a permanent arrangement?

XBox Live - DNS Server Is Not Responding

I'm having an issue with my wireless connection.I was connected fine to my wireless internet on my desktop perfectly fine. I then attempted to connect to Xbox live at this time and that also worked fine. The connection began to get a little flaky (kept losing connection) so I reset my modem while they were both still connected. When the modem came back neither was able to connect. My other laptop, iPhone, and iPad also can no longer connect to the wireless.Windows troubleshooting tells me my DNS server is no longer responding. I'm assuming the desktop connection and Xbox connection are trying to connect to the same thing due to my reset, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Do Streaming Files Actually Exist?

Apr 27, 2012

Everyone speaks about video and music streaming, however I am under the understanding that there isint actually any such thing as legitimate real time streaming, ALL files are saved to the disk or the RAM. If this was not the case, disrupting your Internet connection would cause an instantaneous crash of the streaming media, and well, I have had my Internet crash a lot of times while viewing streaming median and in every case it continued to play for some time.

Streaming From PC To Media Player

Feb 27, 2012

All I'm trying to do is play music files stored on my PC upstairs with my Dune Media Player downstairs which is part of my home cinema system. The Dune player is hardwired ethernet via Homeplugs and can "see" my PC and media library and the folders in there, but everything shows up as empty - photos/music etc. The Dune will "see" a netbook we have via wireless and displays the contents no problem. Netbook is running XP Home and the PC Win 7 64bit.Initially, all worked in that the Dune player saw the Win 7 PC and libraries. I could do a slide show of photos and see the music files but couldn't play them - unsupported Codec. All my music on the PC is lossless and in WMA Lossless format to make things easier when using WMP12. However, nothing really supports this format and most devices prefer FLAC/ non Microsoft - and here's the collision. WMP12 doesn't like FLAC - even with plug ins I've tried, it's hard work.Decided to dump WMP12, clear libraries and wipe it's database. Installed Mediamonkey version 4 instead as this will do all I want - apart from maybe photos. Have transferred some FLAC albums over to Music Library and Mediamonkey gets all artwork etc and plays them. Have enabled Mediamonkey to act as a UPNP server and it's running. However, the Dune Media player still sees empty folders in the PC Libraries - music and photos. All the folder are shown such as All Music, Albums, Artists etc, but there's nothing in them. When clearing WMP12 library and database, I stopped Windows Media Player Sharing Service in services.msc.I have restarted this in case it makes a difference. No change.

why can't the Dune Player (or Roberts Internet DAB radio we have) see what's in the library folder when using Mediamonkey. It's the same using WMP12 with FLAC files. It did see everything when WMP12 was fully loaded and set with WMA Lossless - but the codec isn't really supported by anything other thanm Microsoft.
