View 1 RepliesAll the internet access from my company needs to be pass through a proxy server from the Global server which needs a LDAP user name/password in order to access the internet resource. Recently, I purchase 2 set of Windows 8 professional 64B OEM machine, the IE is ok as I embed the proxy IP/LDAP user name/password etc.. I can also install some Windows APP from the store, however, all live feed seems blocked..Tried quite a lot work around but no cure. Could I setup another internal proxy server (linux based) which store my LDAP user name/password in order to access the external resource and all Windows8 machine shall point the proxy to this Linux proxy server so it can use my LDAP user name/password.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with Norton 360 6.0. Everytime it updates its definitions, my internet disconnects and I have to reboot my computer to get it back. However, every time I try to command prompt a ping, it says I'm connected as does my networking center.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith Norton 360 Antivirus, is there a feature that allows you to make it clear your hard drive of all unnecessary files that are slowing down the CPU? (similar to what the technicians for dell do when you call, they delete everything unnecessary) I've done the temporary file removal and it didn't do much, along with the full system scan. If Norton can't do this, is there any way to make a software go through the hard drive and delete all the crap?
View 5 Replies View Relatedfirst I replaced a new internal hard drive. Installed new and updated drivers. connected to the home wireless network. everything working well so far as of last week. this week, I replaced new battery and ran norton 360 updates. after the updated, I can't connect wirelessly to my home network. I checked if Norton is blocking the communication but I don't think it did.

I ran the diagnostic tool and it said 'Invalid IP address' and repeated 'Unexpected error from iphlpapi: The pipe is being closed' several times
I tried rebooting the router and the following -
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log But nothing has worked. The 3 laptops and Xbox connected to the router are still working fine.....
Last year i installed nortor 360 gold edition onto my laptop and now it is telling me that it is not automatically protected against viruses and spyware, even though it has the latest update and no problems have been found on my laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Vista computer and my XP computer had been happily "talking" to each other, sharing files and printers. I got tired of paying $70 a year for Norton Internet Security, so I uninstalled it (using the Norton removal tool) and selected the Windows Firewall. I also installed Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Now neither computer talks to the other. When I run "\FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" I get "Windows cannot access \FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" . Check spelling, etc. Get error code 0x800704b3 "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available..." What have I messed up by going from the Norton firewall to the Windows one.

I just bought a new television so thought I would finally be able to get to play xbox live in a television away from the router! But of course like always there is is problems....
I'll start off by saying I understand about bridging your pc's wireless connection to the router and the wired connection from the xbox to the pc. I did the same thing last year with my old laptop and it worked fine.
However the problem lies in that my computer isn't recognising the xbox as a network device atal! They are connected using an ethernet cable (and the orange light comes on at port when xbox is turned on) but the only thing showing up in networked connections folder on the pc is the actual internet!
I had read that sometimes an ordinary ethernet cable isn't enough and it must be a cross over cable used to connect the pc and the xbox, so went into the shop today and purchased an adaptor that changes the cable to a cross over... but still nothing is showing up.
My computer is fairly top of the range, windows 7 and uses a netgear usb network card.
I have tried everything, port forwarding, switching wires, and resetting my router. NOTHING WORKS! I get disconnected every 15 minutes and i can even send messages to people.

Unfortunately I lost those sites.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot connect to X-box live. The test connects to my router, to the internet, but fails on connecting to Xbox live. I tried changing from n to g. Set up port forwarding with dedicated IP address on xbox. Still same issue every-time. Even see the x-box listed on the router status page indicating that the static IP I assigned is hitting the router. Using WPA- personal for security and the X-box game adaptor with a D-Link- 655 router.

I then attempted to connect to Xbox live at this time and that also worked fine. The connection began to get a little flaky (kept losing connection) so I reset my modem while they were both still connected. When the modem came back neither was able to connect. My other laptop, iPhone, and iPad also can no longer connect to the wireless.Windows troubleshooting tells me my DNS server is no longer responding. I'm assuming the desktop connection and Xbox connection are trying to connect to the same thing due to my reset, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I want to do is be able to control my PC from my TV screen. I mean I want to be able to stream a live ball game or movie I have on my PC hard drive & see it on my TV. I heard about Roku & thought that is what I wanted or Blueray with DLNA. But Roku just pulls streams from subscriber sites like Netflix & Hulu. DLNA will allow you to view video you have on your HDD but will not let you stream live feeds like watching a live event that is streaming on your PC. Is there any hardware out there that will allow me to have whats on my PC screen on my TV screen via wifi (or other means)?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a 825 and a WD Mybook Live. I have been going back and forth on the WD board trying to resolve a remote access issue with the mybook and I am being told to do some settings in the router and I am not sure I have dine them correctly> It has not resolved the issue but I would like to make sure I am correct before I claim its not a good fix. The mybook is connected into a network port on the router which is connected to a High Speed modem and then out to the internet. Initially I was told to enable UPnP on the 825, which was already enabled. Then this is what I was told to do by a WD tech. You could try assigning a static IP to the My Book Live, then making sure ports 80 and 443 are assigned to that IP on your router. It is possible that something else is taking one of these ports. We use uPnP to try to open up these ports, and if it fails, we resort to relay mode. In the future, we will allow you to set these ports within the My Book Live to other than 80 and 443.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to get a few answers in regards to VLAN implementation (thinking about doing this for a large network)...VLAN's always sound good on paper, but how hard/easy are they to implement to a live and running network?
1.) Have successfully implemented VLAN's into a production environment (e.g. placed servers, production, printers, etc. on separate VLAN's)?
2.) How much of a pain is it to do this? If you are on a 192.168.1.x subnet, do you have to re-IP all of your printers, switches, etc. This sounds like a lot of work – especially since re-IP’ing domain controllers is a royal pain.
3.) Have you seen much of a performance increase when implementing VLAN’s (i.e. chatty protocols and broadcasts?)
I'm a skydiver and since 2 years, the dropzone where I jump have been putting webcam around the area to see what's happening on the dropzone live online. I talk to them about a project and they said it would be great but I don't know how to do it or if it's even possible to do.We would like to put a wireless camera onboard one of the planes so that ppl can see what is happening up there and that would stream live directly on their website like the other cameras they have around... the thing is, we jump from 13 500 feet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Netgear Pro-safe VPN firewall. I have 3 or 4 Xbox consoles on my network. After a few days i got multiple complaints that the users kept getting disconnected from Xbox live after i installed this firewall. I have noticed that it only does it to the xbox, computers and laptops are working great. I also noticed that, 5 or 10 sec. before the router goes out. The firewalls indicator lights all light-up at the same time. Then it resets and the connection restores itself. It happens mostly when using Netflix through the xbox. I have tried port forwarding but it seemed like it made it worst.
